Upon Vestia: Chapter Eleven

She blinked and nodded, "Yea...?"

"Mmm," said Ellie. She tossed her omnicom in the air, nearly dropping it as her dulled reflexes almost failed her. "I choose this now, but can I choose something else if I regret this when I'm sober?"

"Whatever you please." Third said, attempting to sound very gentleman-like. His grin gave away at how obvious he was enjoying this, like a cat watching a fish bowl.

Vestia muttered unhappily. "Don't do this, Ellie."

Ellie knelt down and held out her hand to Third. "Deal."

Vestia groaned.

Third offered up a teal-socked paw, nodding, before a wide grin split his face again and he began to walk off. "I look forward to it in a week's time." He suddenly laughed wildly and returned his direction to Matt's room.

Matt was fast asleep and totally snoring slightly in his drunkenness. Whoo.

Kay looked at Asher, nope, he didn't look like he totally believed him. He nabbed the pens. [It's not real grumpiness if you can hide it.] He teased, waving the pens in his face as he hurried back to his own chair.

"But I'm a robot! I'm really good at hiding my feelings," Asher protested, eyes wide with distress. He subsided into a fit of laughter, taking the opportunity to slide Kay's paperwork back over to him, and pulling the stolen pen from his pocket.

Kay shook his head. [If that's the case, you're a terrible robot then] Kay told him, smiling affectionately. [But that's why I like you.] He batted at him as Asher stole back the paperwork.

Asher leaned back in his own chair, looking pleased. "Well then, I guess I can't be sad about being a terrible robot, can I?" He pushed some paperwork back over to, "Because you're being nice," he explained.

Kay looked amused. [You wouldn't be you if you were a good little robot. I doubt many of you really are to be honest.] He glanced down at the paperwork and shook his head, returning the pens to their proper place.
[You're in a very good mood. I take it you enjoyed spending some time with your brother?]

"I'm pretty sure most of us are terrible robots," Asher agreed. "The ones I've met certainly are." He looked a bit embarrassed, "Yeah, it was wonderful to see James again. I never expected this to happen--normally once you're sent away, you can expect to never see anyone you knew again. I know I should be more serious since our friends are in danger, but I just can't."

Kay nodded. [I get it. It's nice to be able to just... not worry for a while, even if it's fleeting. Matt would say "what's the point in worrying about something you can't change", and he has a point.] He shook his head [What are the odds that in a universe this vast, both our younger brothers wouldn't just end up on the same ship, but would run into us? Web would argue it was fate or something, certainly it's a little too much of a coincidence. But i'm glad for it. Knowing they're okay is an enormous relief. One less thing to worry about. ]

"It certainly is weird, but I'm not complaining," Asher smiled softly, "We're incredibly lucky to have this happen."
"Oh," he added, "I saw something interesting today, that i thought you might want to know about."

[I'm not certain it's luck, but it's definitely something] Kay tilted his head. [Interesting?]

"Whatever you call it, I'm glad it happened," said Asher. "While I was" he coughed "collecting Matt, I noticed that the security chief had eyes that were extremely similar to yours. He looked like a minotaur otherwise, but his eyes made me wonder if he might be part of your father's species."

Kay chewed his lip, that certainly WAS interesting. [I wonder... ] He shook his head. [Do you think he'd talk to me?]

"He isn't terribly sociable, so far as I can tell," Asher said, frowning. "He sits with the brim of his hat pulled down, and doesn't talk much. And when he does talk, he's grumpy."

Kay looked amused. [Maybe that's a species trait.] He shook his head. [Still, what if it's my only chance to find out ANYTHING about my father's race? I don't even know what they called themselves. ]

"It's probably worth trying to talk to him," agreed Asher. "I'm not sure how happy he'd be if I came with you," he looked sheepish, he really needed to stop getting that guy's attention, "but you should probably bring someone."

Kay nodded and thought about that. [Matt would be an even worse idea. ] He smiled softly. [I'll think about it. You never know, maybe someone else will get themselves arrested. With THIS crew... ]

"Bets on who's next?" Asher asked with a grin.

Kay shrugged, smirking. [Maybe Ellie will offend a shopkeeper... Though Shane usually manages to keep her out of trouble. Mourn perhaps, he's never seemed much of a fan of rules or law. ]

"Ellie's a safe guess," Asher said, nodding. "I'll bet something riskier." He thought it over, "I bet Shane will get arrested."

Kay smiled. [Now THAT would be interesting. He seems so sensible.]

"It's always the sensible ones who do dumb things. Maybe he'll get drunk." Asher chuckled, "I do hope not though. That was too exciting last time."

[mm true, the one you least expect to do something stupid.] He shrugged. [And yes, Angry drunk Star Dragon isn't something i'd like a repeat performance of.]
