Upon Vestia: Chapter Four

As they made it back to Vestia Heny would of dozed off in her chair, semi curled up. Vestia greeted them but seem slightly annoyed about something.

Ellie followed the others and sat down comfortably on a couch. "Look at us, all sophisticated! Hey, why you watching me, Heny? Admiring my pretty hair?" the human winked.
Asher attempted a subtle exit, hoping to go check on the Star Dragon eggs, and avoid the silliness that always accompanied strong alcohol.

"Oh, just curious of how your human body would take to this strong of whiskey." She shrugged, "gotta make sure if need be to whisk you to the med bay for poisoning."

"Eh, don't worry about it. Asher will make sure I won't die, he's programmed to do that. Right?" she said, raising her voice slightly to make sure he heard.
The android peered back into the room, "Right. But I'll ask Kay to look after you, and he won't be nice like I would."
Ellie went pale. "Okay. Maybe just a little bit then, Heny."
Asher made his exit, feeling slightly smug.

Shane got his glass, looking over to Ellie then at his glass. He used to be worried about that, though he didn't have to e event then

She chuckled, "Go on then.."

Ellie hesitated, then sighed. "Oh well, pound-sign why-oh-hello, as the ancient Greeks said." She took a sip, and abruptly had to stop to splutter and cough.

The android headed over to sickbay to check on the eggs.

Heny went into a pure snickerfest, "you okay ellie?"

Matt found a seat to fold into and kinda lounged comfortably, feet up over the arms of the chair. He chuckled at the conversation.

"Careful, remember to breathe!"

Kay looked up when Asher came in and nodded. He was reading something on the omnicom.

Shane smiled and shook his head then took a sip from his glass, holding it a moment before letting it slide down his throat. "Good stuff" He said with a smile

"I'm good, I'm good. Heny sure knows how to get hammered though," Ellie said, wheezing, then taking a less tentative sip of whiskey. "You gotta try this stuff, Matt."

Asher smiled at Kay, and went to check the eggs' temperature, before coming over to talk to him. "I hope you don't mind me stopping by, our friends were breaking out the strong alcohol, and I wanted to avoid the inevitable silliness that follows that decision."

Starr was never too far from the sickbay with the eggs, though she tried to be respectful of their caretaker. She came in and looked at Asher and Kay then went over to check on the eggs arcana.

Matt cautiously sipped the whiskey from his glass, coughed and put it back down. "Woah... that is uh.. quite a thing."

Kay smiled and nodded. [Alchohol? Why do I get the feeling my brother is somehow involved? If they come in here with hangovers in the morning, they're getting no sympathy.]

He waved to Starr.

Heny chuckled and softly sipped hers, enjoying the flavors as she watched the youngsters "enjoy it".

"Good, I'm not a wuss for spluttering like a fish out of water," Ellie said cheerfully. "I think once my tongue is deadened to the pain, I'll quite like this stuff."

"Your intuition was correct. He is very much involved. I told them if they get alcohol poisoning, you'd be the one to deal with them. Ellie got scared." Asher found a chair and sat down. "Hello, Starr. Does the incubator look all right? I wasn't sure if the eggs had specific humidity requirements."

Shane chuckled and shook his head "It is quite potent, maybe you should tryadding a bit of juice to it"

"Coke is always a good to mix in." Heny offered.

Matt held up the glass and examined the contents critically. "I think after a few sips it'll be more than just my tongue deadened to pain. Man... the med bay should stock this stuff as pain relief!" He took another sip, made a pained face and put the glass back down.

Kay nodded. [Oh he'll no doubt end up here. He can't even process alchohol properly the idiot, yet still insists upon drinking to excess. I keep telling him his kidneys will fail on him but he's stubborn and stupid. Oh well, not MY problem. ] He looked to Starr. [How long do you think we've got before we're under attack again? And do you think they'll take the bait?]

Shane looked to his own glass and smiled a little

Starr shook her head "Depends on what all that little scout ship said and who is behind the attack. If they are the same group as attacked us when the trip started, then they will want more than just the eggs, they will want us all"

Kay looked anxious. That really didn't sound good.

[So what's the plan? You have a plan right? And please don't tell me it's "don't get caught" because that's Matt's plan all the time and it ALWAYS backfires]

"Only the weak dilute such a fine whiskey," Ellie said with all the wisdom of a holy leader. "I will take this pain and become one with it, until I can harness it and wield it as a weapon."

To Kay he said, "Vestia is much better prepared for combat than she was last time we were attacked. We'll be all right."

"I was thinking we could put the fake eggs on the shuttle and send it off when and if anyone comes searching. That may provide enough of a distraction to get away again" Starr said then shrugged

"dont blame me if you wake up nude hanging from the ceiling some where." Heny commented as she just kept on slowly sipping.

Matt burst into laughter at Ellie's remark, raised his glass and declared "i'll drink to that!"

Kay didn't look convinced by either argument, but he had no better ideas. He just nodded.

"Is that a threat?" Ellie asked Heny slyly. She grinned at Matt and took a long sip, "To pain and strength!"

"I know in the military, you're used to having plans, but it doesn't usually work that way out here," Asher said to Kay. "There are way too many unknown variables on this ship to figure things out ahead of time. Believe me, it makes me nervous too."

Shane raised an eyebrow and looked to Ellie curiously then back to his glass to sip some more of it.

"We can have a general plan, but not a specific one' Starr said then shrugged

"Hey, you know it was a good time when you wake up nude hanging from the ceiling." Matt nodded sagely, as if he had personal experience of this and took another swig. He hissed at the burning, then started laughing. Yep, it was going straight to his head.

[I worked on the frontier, it's quite a bit more chaotic than the regimented ranks. Still, a contingency plan of sorts helps. Will these decoys show up the same on ship scanners? ]
