Upon Vestia: Chapter Seventeen

Kay always tried so hard to be sensible and pragmatic. Asher had always loved that about him, and he loved it just as much now. He smiled softly. "No, you're definitely not alone in this."
He wasn't going to leave Kay to look after this little dragon alone. He'd gotten the guy into this situation, so now it was his job to do everything he could to help. Did that make him the other father here? Maybe. This was thoroughly confusing and he was going to need to think it over at some point. "If it wasn't already obvious, I'm here for you. Both of you," he said.

Tala snorted weakly. "I do not like that butterfly well." She let Shane help her.

Asher cleaned for a bit, glancing over at Kay occasionally, until he noticed a bit of panic in Kay's eyes. He set aside what he was doing and went to get Kay some water before coming over to stand next to him. "I'm right here," he said softly, "Starr will be back soon, I'm sure Vestia will tell her to ward the airlock later."

Sonata still had the butterfly in the cup. "I should probably hand it over to the authorities... Strange such a benign little thing can unwittingly have such adverse effects... No creature is born perfect, I guess..."

Kay smiled softly to Asher and leaned his head against Asher's arm. He looked a bit overwhelmed.

Starr nodded and looked to Sonata "Want anyone to go with you?" She asked with concern after Shane took Tala to be able to lay down somewhere, unless she wanted to just walk

Tala went to her room with Shane. "You smell less satisfactory this way," she told him, but her voice was dull.

Asher watched Kay a bit sadly. Yeah, this was going to be rough on him.

Shane chuckled at that and looked to her "I may not smell as satisfactoy this way, but I am strong enough and tall enough to help you like this." He said and helped her to her bed before returning to his more familiar human form "Is there anything I can get for you?"

"I require a ticket to return to Haakon," Tala said. She might have even been serious, she was pretty out of it right now. "Otherwise, nothing."

Kay stayed like that for a while, but eventually he sat up, shook his head and exhaled deeply. This was happening, there was nothing he could do about it, damnit, he was going to DO THIS WELL.
[I am going to need to learn an awful lot about Star Dragons.] He wrote. That in itself was rather a huge feeling task. Raising a child from a species you had next to no real understanding of.. huh.. wasn't that exactly what his mother had done? Multiple times over?
A very faint smile played across his face at that thought.

"Haakon? Is that where you are from?" Shane asked, frowning. Yeah, all he could think to do was keep her talking. He glanced to the camera and raised an eyebrow. Did Vestia think they needed to get a medic in here?

Asher couldn't quite hide his look of relief as Kay pulled himself back to the present. "Perhaps there's some good to being here at the Guild, then. I'm sure we can learn a lot here, in the library and from the dragons themselves," he said. "We can research together. I have a lot to learn too."

"My homeworld, yes," Tala said. "My mate is there and my companions and family. They shall die to the Imperium without seeing me again."

Vestia didn't seem to understand Shane's unspoken question.

Kay nodded. [We're lucky to have people to explain things, she's lucky.] He looked down at the baby. [No muddling through like my brothers and I had to.]

Shane frowned at that and looked to Tala "No one can predict the future, you don't know they will die without seeing you again. They know you love them." He said gently

Asher smiled softly. "This would be a much more daunting task without help, but I think we'll be able to do a good job since we do have that."

"The imperium will slaughter them, as they do," Tala said. "It is not an if, but a when."

"Can we send a message to have them come here?" Shane asked with a frown, getting up to get some water for Tala to drink. "Or even a space station?"

Kay smiled weakly, it was a very forced smile as his gut twisted and the terror rose up again. This was a massive responsibility

Rigel had asked Vestia where to find Dawn at, then headed for the holodeck, going in then frowning at the two inside.

Esk turned as someone came in, it was just Rigel. "She's learning to shoot. And isn't terrible." Esk told Rigel dully.

Rigel frowned at that and shook his head then looked to Dawn.

Dawn glanced over to Rigel then sighed, setting the gun down. "We need to know more than just what our powers can do." She said as if this was something they had discussed before.

Esk folded his arms and decided he didn't want to get involved. Instead he leaned against a wall and just watched.

"Dawn" Rigel started, only to stop when she shook her head.

"Uncle Rigel. I love you and I respect your opinion, but this is not something that I will give in on. We need to know how to use guns and be safe with them." Dawn said.

Rigel shook his head and glanced to Esk then back to her again. "We have to know we can rely on our powers to keep us safe Dawn."

Esk fiddled with something at his belt, unclipping the magic suppressing shackles he'd taken from the mirror universe. He held them up. "It's always wise to have multiple weapons." He reasoned, twirling the cuffs on his finger. "Magic, gun, a sword, your fists. You never know." He shrugged.

Rigel looked over at Esk again, paling at the man ankles. Yeah, he remembered having those forced on him. He looked away again and frowned. What could he say to that?

Esk clipped the shackles back to his belt. "Don't worry, these are just for protection. " Mostly against people like Merith who in his mind didn't deserve to be trusted or to walk around without wearing these damn things.

Rigel nodded and rubbed his head. "Yeah, just bad memories." He said then looked to Dawn "Something I don't want Dawn to have a bad memory of"
