Upon Vestia: Chapter Five

"All right... right, we'd better get him to the med... the med bay," Asher said. "And... and do some tests to see what's needed."

He gratefully did, "T-thanks.."

Asher smiled warmly. "I'll do my best. Truly, I have... have no idea how I ever managed here without you. If anything goes wrong, I'll be glad to know that my friends... friends have you to keep them safe."

"Don't worry about it. I gave you the whiskey, I should have to make sure you don't die." He laughed and helped Thaila to his bed.

Kay bit his lip and nodded jerkily. It was taking all his strength not to just wrap his arms around the stupid android and hug him.

He groaned, "...think you can get me some fruit..?"

"Fruit? Yeah, sure. I'll be right back." Matt smiled at Thaila, quickly averting his gaze when he realized he was maintaining eyecontact a little too long. "Any preferences?"

Asher turned to go. "Try not to worry... worry. My luck has been... been astounding in the past. Vestia, can you tell Starr I'm going to find... find Mourn now?"
"Sure thing," said Vestia dryly, alerting Starr.

Starr nodded and put the shades on then left "Alright, thank you Vestia"

Kay watched Asher go, a sinking feeling in his gut. He slumped back into his chair, but his heart wasn't in his work right now. Please be okay, please... he begged the universe to cut him a break, just for once.

Mourn was extremely excited about the prospect of getting a look at Asher's coding, he'd gushed happily for a bit about series 7 androids and the evolution of the cybernetic brain.
Asher would find him in one of the rec rooms, setting things up.
He waved merrily. "Hello robot! Nervous?"

Starr headed for the rec room, giving Shane a smile and wave in passing then went in and looked around at all Mourn had set up already.

"Uhm grape." He was slightly disappointed that Matt broke it off.

Asher smiled a bit weakly. "Maybe a bit... a bit nervous. Not nervous enough to back out... out though." He rolled up his sleeve and opened the panel on his arm, handing the data cable to Mourn to plug in. "This should be interesting."

Mourn waved to Starr. "This will void any warranty" He grinned. "But don't think you care yes? I have permission?"

Matt nodded and rather quickly disappeared to go find grapes, whatever they were. They were the small things right? that grew on bunches? eh, he might just bring the whole fruit bowl back.

"So long as he is himself after." Starr said then shrugged and looked to Asher again "He is my friend"

Thaila laid there in his room, which BTW for the record was well kept >_>

Mourn nodded. "Do my best." He plugged the cable in and set up the computer, tapping away at the keys with one hand. He didn't seem to use his mechanical arm for much of anything.

Matt actually didn't take that long, he asked Vestia what grapes were and after a bit of a discussion about what red meant, he finally found them.

He came back. "I think these are grapes... " They were.

He looked and carefully sat up, "Thanks...you don't eat fruits do you?"

Shane looked up, standing after a moment "Hey, Vestia, where is Ellie at?"

Matt shook his head. "Carnivore. Like my father's race. " He shrugged. "also colourblind which isn't helpful." he laughed. "isn't being a half breed FUN"

He laughed then winced, "Ow...Have you ever tried fruit? It not that bad."

Asher shivered at the feel of an unrecognized computer trying to access his operating system, but resisted the urge to yank himself free. "It should ask you for Starr's password, and then the factory access code, which we don't have," he said helpfully.

"Ellie's pruning the mini apple trees in Hydroponics," Vestia said to Shane.

Shane smiled and headed for hydroponics to see Ellie.

Starr came over to give her password, glancing between the two once more before entering it. "How can we get that? Do you think that Celia will help?"

Matt shook his head. "unless you want me puking too, not a good plan. I shouldn't even drink alcohol but... ya know, there IS a limit to the things I can live without"

"Not even cooked with meat?" He asked, surprised.

"MegaBrainTech's mainframe computer. She helped speed the process of my purchasing Asher." Starr answered

Ellie looked up cheerfully when Shane came in, and waved a little apple tree branch at him in greeting. "What's up?"

"I don't think it would be wise to ask Celia to do this. She may... may not be an enemy, but she's still a slave," Asher pointed out. To Mourn he said, "Do you think you could find the code using a brute force attack?"

Shane waved and smiled at her "What did you think of the song earlier? Do you know what that was about?"

Starr nodded and fell silent, watching and listening now.

Matt shrugged. "Never risked it. My foster mother was never a particularly adventurous cook anyway.  Can't say i've ever really considered food as anything other than fuel."

"she rogue too?" mourn asked, surprised. "could crack from here, but take time... might set off fail safes" he shrugged and yanked a cable out of his own hair. It looked like he had a few of them tied up into the dreadlocks. He plugged one end into his own head and looked to the two. "Have code breaking software, quicker than computer." He plugged the other end into the computer. "Sure you want to do this?" He really hoped they'd say yes.
