Upon Vestia: Chapter TWENTY

Heny stood there and listened as the two spoke, her heart beat rising. She had visited him a couple of times but found it too painful with eveything going on.

Web nodded, smiling. "Oh yes, Matt's also absolutely terrible at hiding anything. He has very obvious physical tells."

"HEY!" Matt protested.

"It also helps i'm an empath, so i can read their emotions. Whenever they got a little overly excited I knew they were scheming." Web continued, then gasped as the little dragon tumbled.
He crouched down to check on him.

"Are you alright?"

Kay jumped at the sudden fall and peered under the table as well, keeping Danika safely on his lap. Kerr?

"Woah little guy." Matt also crouched down to see if the dragon was okay.

Ellie looked at Kerr a bit worriedly and wondered if she should hurry over to hug the little guy, she knew baby dragons were pretty durable, but that fall looked like it hurt.

Asher stayed back, he didn't want to get in the way unless Kerr needed medical help.

Kerr shook his head then got up and shook his whole body. "Tumble, tumble owie" He said then looked around at everyone that was staring at him. He walked over to Kay and reached up for him. "Kay fix owie?" He asked and looked to his back and tail where he had landed.
(Figure an ice pack or something, lol)

Kay reached out to carefully pick him up, which was a bit awkward with Danika on him too.

Matt came over and took Danika so Kay could look at the other dragon.

Web stood up, looking a little guilty. Poor little thing.

Asher came over in case Kay wanted him to get anything, or wanted help with something. "You're going to be fine," he told Kerr reassuringly.

Ellie went to pick up Vela and pet her.

Vela looked to Ellie going with her without protest.

Danika looked to Matt then back to Kay and Kerr. Kerr tumbles a lot, mom gives him 'owie pack' then he better she told Kay

Kerr let Kay pick him up, looking to him then folding his wings close to his side. "I tumble again. Tumble fun but owie a lot." He said then looked to Web. "Web no look sad, I just make owie again."

Web smiled softly and nodded. "You need to learn how to tumble without hurting."

"oo oo i'm good at that!" Matt declared.

Kay carefully checked Kerr over, feeling his spine and hips and tail to make sure there was no more serious injury.
[ice.] He wrote, nodding to Asher and petting Kerr reassuringly on the head. Nothing damaged, maybe a bruise.

"Once you guys can shapeshift, you can turn into borrowers as you fall and then you can just bounce," Ellie told the dragons. "Borrowers are like rubber balls I swear."

Asher went to get an ice pack.

"Borrowers?" Web asked.

"Oh yeah, they're tiny humanoids, like... this big." Matt gestured with one hand.

"interesting." Web idly wondered how you avoided stepping on them.

Kerr watched the exam curiously, nodding a little. "Yes, practice, learn, no get owie." He agreed then bounced a little in place. "Bouncing?"

"Sara, we saw Borrowers once" Vela said and grinned. "They all pretty, but scared, no play"

"Yeah, they must have like, rubber bones or something. It's freaky as heck but it works I guess," Ellie said. "Oh yeah, I guess borrowers and dragons don't do so great together." And the borrowers were racist for good reason, omg. She consciously tried to close her mind like she had been practicing with the plants, so the dragons wouldn't hear her think about dragons eating borrowers.

Asher brought over the ice pack and handed it to Kay.

Matt nodded, he wasn't so good at shielding his thoughts about borrowers and their issues with dragons. Oops.


Kay nodded to Kerr. Just be careful, maybe practice jumping from lower heights till you get the hang of it? He took the ice pack and nodded thankfully to Asher.

All three of the dragons focused first on Ellie then on Matt as the two thought about dragons eating borrowers. "We no eat Borrowers" Kerr said first, followed by the girls.

Matt's eyes widened and he shook his head. "no no.. of course not. That's gross!"

Kay shot Matt a glare.

Darn, looked like Ellie's mental guards needed a bit more work. She never had been much good at keeping her thoughts quiet, oops. "No, of course you wouldn't. Those dragons are nothing like you!" she told them hastily.

Asher shook his head. This telepathy stuff sure made things complicated. Poor kids.

Kerr looked from one to the other again then turned his head to look at the ice pack, laying on the table to let it sit till they said he could get up. He didn't like being still, but would for this.

Danika reached up to nuzzle Matt gently. "Very gross, people are not food." She said quietly

"No they aren't," Asher agreed softly. "You're good people, so you know that. Someday the other dragons will know that too, and they'll be better as well." He shook his head, "But that's not something you need to worry about right now. Maybe..." his thoughts scrambled for something happy to think about, "Maybe you can get Matt and Ellie to make you hats or something. They're good at that, I hear."

Matt petted Danika, nuzzling was nice. "You want a crazy glittery hat? You guys are already so special and sparkly"

"Please no more glitter." Web lamented.

Asher looked a bit amused, although the dark topic of borrowers and dragons was still on his mind. "Preferably no glitter, I'm still picking sparkles out of my hair from three months ago."

Ellie rolled her eyes. "You're no fun. Glitter is awesome."

Kay looked amused. He shook his head. [It gets everywhere.]

"Everything is better with glitter!" Matt agreed with Ellie.

Glitter makes sneeze" Vela piped up from Ellie's hold

Danika was laughing at the arguments about the glitter. She didn't mind of each way or the other really.

"No glitter then, we don't want you sneezing," Ellie told Vela. "Just good, old-fashioned plastic jewels and felt. Plastic jewels are also awesome."

Matt laughed.

Web looked amused too.

Kay eased the ice pack off of Kerr and checked for any bruising or damage, which wasn't that easy with scales.
He nodded. I think you're alright.

"Jewels are good" Vela agreed with a chirp.

Danika crawled up to sit on Matt's shoulder and watch the others quietly.

Kerr looked at the ice pack then licked his scales on his back. "I good, I tumble and get owie a lot." He said then grinned up at Kay again

"That's the spirit. Can't let a couple of owies scare you!" Ellie agreed. "Come on, let's make hats!" She petted Vela, smiling at Kerr.

Even so, perhaps save the gliding lessons for lower heights yes? Kay advised.

Matt grinned at Danika. "Careful up there, don't want you falling too kiddo."

Web smiled softly, for all he'd scolded Matt earlier, he was pretty sure he would be a good dad after all.

"to the craft room! to make hats!" Matt declared.

Asher looked to Kay and Web. "What do you think, want to help them make hats, or shall we avoid the hazards of the craft room?" He said lightly.
