Upon Vestia: Chapter TWENTY

Heny stood there and listened as the two spoke, her heart beat rising. She had visited him a couple of times but found it too painful with eveything going on.

Luka nodded. "She's a.. what was the term? Odd duck?" She chuckled. "nice though." She was rather fond of Dawn, she'd never really had female friends before.

Matt nodded. "That'd be awesome." He looked down at the sleeping dragons. "We.. uh.. should probably drop these guys off with someone though."

"Exactly," James agreed. "A very odd duck."

"Yeah." Ellie considered their options, "I'm sure Starr is still exhausted, Shane probably is too, we can't make the hawk girls babysit cause they're basically kids themselves." She frowned, "Hmm, we need more babysitters."

Matt considered that. "Mmm.. Web's probably not great, he hates being touched and he doesn't like telepathy so... uh... Who else is on the ship that's like.. baby dragon friendly?"

Luka cheered as another opponent took to the ring, this one was more evenly matched the giant man. "this one should be interesting..."

Ellie considered that for a while. "Sonata, maybe. Probably not Armin, he doesn't know much about dragons. Tala?" She giggled at that idea.

"Oooh, he looks scary," James said, leaning forward to watch. "Man, I so would not want to fight those guys. They really do look like minotaurs."

"Oh man, Tala, she'd probably teach them to fight or something." Matt laughed.

"With the horned helmets yeah." Luka agreed. "Or Satare."

"She'd be a terrifying babysitter," Ellie agreed. "It'd be cute though, they could perch on her horns."

James nodded. "Yeah, they could definitely be Satare too. They're big and scary, regardless."

Luka chuckled. "to me, Terrans and by extension Androids are really really small."

Matt snickered. "Awesome. "

"True enough, true enough," James agreed. "I mean, I'm almost as tall as you so I'm not that small, right?"

Ellie started to get up, being careful of little Danika as she moved. "Maybe we shouldn't go to Tala. Sonata might be better, right? Sonata has a baby dragon kid too."

Luka shrugged. "I'm short, and a girl." She pointed out.

Matt nodded. "yeah, she probably knows like.. all there is to know. And hey, they might enjoy spending time with an older dragon kid right?" He carefully stood, cradling the two dragons in his arms.

"Bah." James made a face. "You guys really are crazy tall, or maybe we're crazy short. At this point, I have no idea."

"Yeah, it'll be a good experience for them. Let's go find her." Ellie edged her way out of the crafts closet and looked around. "Where is she, Vestia?"

"The playroom," Vestia said helpfully.

Luka laughed. "I don't know, it's strange... I mean, Terrans are SO like us in every other way, except you know.. small and scrawny and pale."

Matt followed, carefully trying not to drop the babies.

"Not all Terrans are pale," James pointed out, "Some are are way darker than you guys." He thought that was important to mention. "But yeah, a lot of ways we are super similar. Maybe we have a common ancestor or something, I dunno."

They'd find Sonata and beg her to take the babies, which she probably would because she was nice that way.

Luka shrugged. "I haven't met many terrans. Just... well.. Ellie... and the androids... " Huh.. yeah she hadn't really met many at all. "I don't know, but it IS weird. Then again, lots of species seem to be roughly the same sort of shape. I mean, the Keepers, Artruvians minus the wings, the uh.. whatever Sawna is... " It was bizarre.

Matt seemed kinda reluctant to let the babies go, but he eventually put them down, letting them sleep and telling Sonata they wouldn't be long.

"Yeah, there really aren't a ton of Terrans out here," James agreed. "Makes you wonder if those stupid Creators went meddling with everyone's evolution, all those similarities all over the place."

Ellie set down Danika, told Sonata to be very careful with the babies, then headed off with Matt to find those tablets.

Luka made a face. "I hope not, I don't like the idea of higher beings screwing around with everyone. Maybe it's all just a coincidence." That was more reassuring to her.

James nodded. "Who knows, man. I don't." He grinned, "Well we know for sure androids aren't a coincidence. Androids aren't weird and mysterious, we make sense."

"Well, sense? But at least we understand why you look the way you do. Even if it is wierd and creepy of the terrans" She checked herself. "I mean the whole.. you know... making you so like them and then... You know what I mean." She looked a bit flustered.

James snorted. "Yeah, I know what you mean." Oh, Luka and her opinions. He patted her shoulder, "Your honestly is appreciated. I maintain that we do make sense though, although it does say a lot about the Terrans."

Luka nodded. "yeah, you're right." Terrans man, they were so screwed up.

James watched as another pair of knights faced off and one was thrown. "What do you think, should we leave these poor holographic fools to their fate now?"

Luka nodded. "Sure." She stood up so she could get a better look at the guy who was thrown. "I can see how you hurt yourself."

"Yeah, it's not the safest sport around," James said dryly. "It's good fun though, when you're not the one falling off." He went over to the holodeck control panel to prod at the screen. "Where to next? Or shall we leave and go harass our friends?"

"What'd you have in mind?" Luka asked, hiking up the volumous skirts of her medieval garb to walk. "How DO women wander around like this?"

"I didn't have anything specific in mind, the knights just kinda look the same after a while," James explained. "I don't think noble women used to walk much, they were supposed to stay home and stay pure for their husbands or something." He wrinkled his nose.
