Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter One

One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

Kay nodded and started to tidy things away. Yeah he didn't know what else to say.

"Come back if it feels like anything is wrong, and we'll take a look," Asher said kindly, "In the mean time, you can go do whatever, just as long as it doesn't involve your wing."

Moone nodded again and got up to leave to go to her room once more. She paused at the door and looked to the two "Thank you both" She said then turned to go

"We're happy we could help," Asher told her as she left.

Kay nodded to her and went back to putting things away. That done he turned to smile at Asher. [It's just not possible to be awful to her is it?]

Asher smiled back. "I guess this means you win, then. I can be horrible to rodents and your brothers, but that was far beyond my abilities."

Kay smiled softly. [Even I can't be horrible to children. I may not like them much but i'm not a psychopath or something. ]

"In that case, maybe we should amend the rules of this contest," Asher said, amused. "Children are exempt, and maybe anyone else who will be especially confused and hurt by me being unsympathetic. Would you like to make any amendments allowing for you to be mean in certain situations?"

Kay nodded [That sounds reasonable, we already exempted Heny for similar reasons. If Matt or Thalia come in with yet another broken nose or unprotected sex situation, can I throw things at them?] He smirked.

Asher snickered. "No, you can't outdo me in meanness or that would make the contest pointless. You can roll your eyes and act passive aggressive though."

Kay smiled viciously. [that said, being nice and understanding seemed to work a whole lot better. Matt was seriously freaked out, which... was oddly satisfying.]

"This experiment is producing some interesting results," Asher agreed. "I hope we get someone to try your patience next though." He grinned. He liked seeing Kay struggle to be nice.

Kay's eyes narrowed slightly. [You're just cruel.] He smiled though.

"Maybe slightly. I like your barely suppressed rage at the idiots on this ship," Asher teased.

[They deserve it.] Kay told him matter of factly.

At which point Luka came in limping and looking a little coy, using Mourn as a crutch. oops?

Kay frowned. [What happened?] He rushed over to help her to a bed.

"She bad at sword fighting." Mourn laughed.

Luka frowned. "He kicked me."

"Told you before, use ALL body, not just sword!" Mourn insisted.

Kay twitched.

Asher shook his head. "Sword fighting, seriously? People really will do anything to get in here, won't they?" He went over to see what would be needed for her injury.

Luka tried to remain stoic as Kay helped her onto a bed, but she hissed in pain whenever she put any weight on one ankle.

Kay looked exasperated, looked back to Asher and remembered he had to be NICE. eugh.
He went to get the medical scanner to make sure nothing was broken.

"you better not have broken my ankle." Luka muttered to Mourn.

Mourn laughed at her. "I no break anything! You fall on it."
He shook his head. "Getting better though, not so many cuts this time see?"

Luka sighed. "you're nuts."

[Sit still please.] Kay tried to scan her ankle, he decided saying less was going to be more helpful here. Because he really rather wanted to smack both of their heads together for being idiots.
sword fighting with actual blades? kicking one another? ffs.

[Asher, we'll need the disinfectant again for these cuts.] There were only a couple of nicks on Luka's arm, they weren't deep.

"My arm's fine." Luka protested.

Kay bit his tongue.

Asher nodded and went to get the disinfectant, plus whatever else Kay needed. "You'll let him look at your arm if you don't want an infection," he told her firmly, "Of course, if infections make you happy, you can do whatever you want." He nodded sensibly.

Luka frowned at Asher, looking suspicious. "Did you swap androids?" She asked Kay.

Kay tilted his head, then looked amused. [No that's Asher.]
He scanned her ankle.
[Looks like it's only a little sprained. You'll be back to normal within about a week provided you don't put any weight on it for the next few days.]
He took some bandages off Asher to bind her ankle. [Definitely no sword fighting i'm afraid.] He forced a smile.

Luka sighed. "Fine, so do I get crutches?"

Kay nodded. [And painkillers. Keep your foot elevated as often as possible.] He got some ice. [this should help bring down some of the swelling. ]

Mourn looked bored.

[Can you help her back to her room once we're done here?] Kay asked him.

Mourn looked unenthused. "She heavy. "

"Says the guy who's half made of metal!" Luka held the ice pack to her ankle and grit her teeth.

Asher tried to not say anything sympathetic. It wasn't easy, he liked Luka, and didn't feel annoyed at her for being dumb and getting in sword fights, honestly. "I can get you back to your room, I'm probably better for that job than Mourn is," he told Luka, trying to not let too much kindness into his voice. He probably sounded a tiny bit nice though. Oops.

Kay smirked at him, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. Oh Asher.

He nodded. [Just stay off your feet as much as possible please, don't put any unnecessary weight on your ankle or you'll make it worse. ]

Luka nodded, she looked annoyed. A week of crutches, great.

Kay went and got them for her after he disinfected her arm, with her looking surly and irritated the whole time.

Ahh fleet pilots, they hated being cooped up didn't they?

Mourn looked impatient.

Much as Kay wanted to scold him for kicking Luka, he couldn't.. or he'd lose the bet. Drat.

Asher gave Kay a disgruntled look. Gloat while you can, Kay, but I'm going to outlast you and win this, he thought. Kay using words like 'please' made him feel smug though. So much fun to make Kay try to be nice.
He went over to help Luka if she needed it.

Mourn looked confused.

Luka totally misread their gaze and looked away. Ew.

Kay tidied things away, because it meant he didn't have to continue trying to be nice.
Especially not with Luka's surface thoughts. Eugh.

Luka held out a hand to Asher and grabbed the crutches, this was awkward.

Asher saw Luka's look and shook his head. Nope, he wasn't even going to say anything on that topic. She could think what she liked.
He helped her out of the med lab and toward her room.

Luka limped heavily and struggled to use her crutches.
Mourn wandered off, the amusement value was lost and he was bored of it all now.

Kay took the quite moment to slump at his desk and huff. Idiots, absolute idiots.

Luka was clearly irritated by the whole situation and not in the best of moods as a result. She seemed to resent needing to be helped and the whole trip took far longer than it needed to as a result of her being stubborn.
A whole week of bedrest? Hell no.

Asher looked at her suspiciously as they reached her room. "You're not planning to rest, are you?"

Luka snorted. "Damnit you're onto me. I'll try, it hurts to put weight on it anyway so it's not like I even CAN walk on it."
