Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter One

One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

[He's fine, don't worry about him.] Kay told her, hoping to get her out of here before Asher actually managed to upset her. Hmm, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. He finished bandaging her tail.

Bianca eyed Asher for a few more seconds. "Maybe he's angry because he hasn't eaten enough," she speculated, "That makes me grumpy sometimes. Will you lift me up to the air vent?" she asked Kay.

Moone came to the door of the medical lab, pausing there and looking at the medics then down to the rag she was holding to her wing to catch the blood. She came in and over to the pair, looking to them again "Asher, Kay. I need some help"

Kay looked at the vent, then at himself, then back at the vent. Hmmm. Asher's extra two inches were probably helpful here. [Maybe that's it.] He didn't want to shatter her illusion that Asher couldn't eat. [I don't think I can reach the vent.] He looked to Asher.

Asher nodded and held out his hand for Bianca to climb on. "I can't eat, you know," he pointed out.

"That explains why you're so angry about it then," Bianca said, as if that settled the matter entirely.

Asher couldn't keep himself from laughing softly as he carried the rat over to the air vent and let her climb in. "Maybe you're onto something. Take good care of your tail, okay?"
He looked over as Moone came in, "What happened?" he asked her.

Kay looked to Moone and hurried over, reaching out a hand to take the cloth and guiding her rapidly over to a bed to sit.

Moone followed Kay and took a seat, looking at the feather "I bumped into something when I was practicing my flying" She explained then shrugged a little

Asher came over after he replaced the air vent grate. Feather injuries were something he had some programming on, although he didn't know a lot. "It's a new feather, I take it?" he asked quietly, not bothering with being mean for the moment. "Still growing, so the blood supply hasn't died off yet?"

Moone nodded and glanced up to Asher "Yes it is." She replied then looked back to that part of her wing

Kay nodded, grabbed a clean cloth and had a closer look at the feather. How the heck did you deal with these? It wasn't something he'd really had to deal with when his wings were ethereal. He gave Moone the clean cloth to hold against it to stop the bleeding and went to grab the supplies.

Asher searched through his programming, eventually coming upon some relevant treatment information for feathered species. "My database says blood feathers are dangerous to leave in," he said, a bit apologetically, "It says it's usually best to pull them and let a new one grow in instead."
He couldn't say that coldly, even if it lost him the contest. He just couldn't do that to a ten year old.

Moone looked down and nodded "Yes, I know. It happened a lot at home, to different people." The thought of home didn't help her much and she looked over to Kay then back to Asher "I can't pull it out myself." Nor did she want to, that would hurt.

Kay actually didn't seem to notice Asher had given up being mean, he found some hemostats. oh this would hurt... a lot. This he DID know.
He picked up his tablet to write [Asher, you have a steadier grip than I do. ]

Asher nodded and went to put on some gloves, then went over to Moone. "I'll try to make it quick," he told her reassuringly, "This won't be fun, and I'm sorry about that."

Moone nodded and drew her legs up to hug her knees so she would stay still. She was really wishing she knew healing magic before all this to avoid the pain.

Kay looked at Asher, nodded and prepared things so he could take over once the feather was yanked and more bleeding started. Now was a good time to test the clotting assistance of those Vavare bandages.

Once Kay seemed ready, Asher pinched the base of the blood feather tightly, while holding Moone's wing firmly still with his other hand. For this job, robot strength was definitely going to be a useful.
He made sure his grip on the feather was very, very good. He didn't want to pull the feather out at an angle and tear her skin, or not pull it hard enough and prolong this ordeal. When he was certain he was going to pull the feather correctly, he quickly, decisively pulled it out.

Moone's instinct was to pull her wing back from Asher, though she tried to fight that and stay still. She couldn't stop a quick jerk or the pain sound before settling again and closing her eyes. Yeah, good that that part was done, but still ouch.

Asher moved aside so Kay could take over. "You're doing fine," he told Moone steadily. "Much better than a lot of the adults on this ship, that's for sure."

Moone looked up to Asher with tears in her eyes and sniffed before lowering her head again in a nod. "This is why we are not fighters, a bad hit to the wings and we are down" She said. She knew they were planning to leave her with the guild even if Skye didn't talk about it.

Kay nodded sympathetically [Wings are frustratingly fragile] Yeah having them both broken had suuuucked. He couldn't help but catch her worried thoughts and felt another stab of guilt. Poor kid. Hopefully she'd be happier about it when they got to the guild. It WAS safer.

He quickly set to work with disinfectant and bandages to hold against the wing until a clot formed.

Asher brought over the box of tissues which he had earlier said were Kay's to carry about, and smiled softly at Moone. "I guess every amazing ability comes with some downsides," he told her.

Moone looked to Asher and accepted the tissue before nodding "Yeah, two sides to every coin and all of that" She said then looked to Kay and the bandages. "I won't be able to fly again until it heals enough to not have a bandage on."

[That shouldn't take too long, but no, I would suggest trying to take it easy until it heals. Try to keep it dry and don't pick at it, even if it itches. You'll just start it bleeding again. We can check on it again in a day or two to make sure it's healing alright?] He glanced to Asher, yeah he didn't have the heart to be mean to the kid either. He may not like children much but that didn't mean he wanted to upset them for something that wasn't their fault.

Moone nodded and sighed a little "Alright. I'll try not to mess with it or let the chicks mess with it."

Kay nodded and started to tidy things away. Yeah he didn't know what else to say.

"Come back if it feels like anything is wrong, and we'll take a look," Asher said kindly, "In the mean time, you can go do whatever, just as long as it doesn't involve your wing."
