Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter One

One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

"Oh goodie, juice and a cookie. How spoiled we are." Esk remarked snidely, but he settled down on the edge of a bed and let Asher draw his blood. "And a sticker too? Wow, what a prize. Want me to go bully Matt into getting in here after this?" He asked Kay.

Kay nodded and smirked.

"How do you like the redecoration?" Esk asked casually.

Kay crumpled up the lemonade paper that had been laying where he'd dropped it and tossed it into the trash by way of answer.

"I'm surprised he hasn't driven you both outta here with a broom or something yet." Esk continued.

[I'm saving that for you little brother.] Kay told him.

Esk snickered.

Dawn chuckled and smiled at Kay and Asher. Yeah, they would probably put things back the way they had been, but it was fun to make labels and stuff. "I wonder who else will come to give blood."

Esk shrugged. "If your desperate i'm sure you can strongarm most of them into it. Well, those you can get blood out of. How the hell do you bleed a Vavare?"

[You don't.] Kay told him. [Least not without a great deal of specialist training none of us have. ]

"Lucky tailor gets out of it then." Esk remarked.

[He makes us bandages, he does his bit.]

"I'm not sure the star dragons will, but we can ask" Dawn said then shrugged "I will go and talk to Skye and Moone then Shane and Starr if you want."

Kay nodded. [See who you can find and encourage them to head over here.]

Dawn nodded and stood up, setting her glass down then giving them a wave and a smile before heading out to find others that could give blood.

When Rigel's bag was full Kay unhooked him, bandaided him and indicated he grab a cookie and a drink.
He labelled the bag and handed it to James because he wasn't doing anything, he could put stuff away.

James was a good errand boy. He took the bag and stowed it, all with minimal haughty sniffing.

When Esk was done, he took that bag too.

Skye and Moone came to the door together after a bit, looking at them as they came in. "Hi"

Esk totally took three cookies when Kay wasn't looking. HAH.

He smirked at James. "Good to see him actually doing some real work for once."

"yeah now if only YOU'D get a real job huh?" Luka had gotten the alert and wandered over. She looked a little sheepish when she saw Kay and Asher. "Vestia said you wanted blood? Which.. sounds totally creepy now I say it out loud."

Kay nodded and gestured for her to take a seat.

Esk snorted. "I have a job, I make sure you morons don't get killed by your own stupidity."

Kay ushered him OUT with a glare.

"Shit, you look just like her." Esk backed away hastily.

Kay continued to glare.

"yeah yeah i'm going i'm going." Esk made a surprisingly hasty exit.

"Well that was effective." Luka remarked. "you'll have to teach me that."

[Sorry.] Kay told her. [I think it's hereditary.]

James looked smug. "I get a paycheck. I get MONEY. Your words roll off me like water off a duck's back." He looked proud.

Asher rolled his eyes.

Tala came in, sniffing the air curiously. "It smells of slaughter!" She said, pleased.

Asher looked amused and prepared to draw her blood.

Skye and Moone came in to take a seat on a bed so they could give blood also. Yeah, it was creepy to say it like Luka did, but it was truth.

Kay made a face. Thanks Tala.
He indicated that James should make himself useful and set up one of the hawk girls. He got Luka set up, then moved on to whoever was next.

"Do I have to?" James asked Kay. "I don't like blood."

Kay looked at him incredulously.

"wait... you're a medic...sorta.. and you can't stand the sight of blood?" Luka laughed.

"You just put the blood bags up?" Moone pointed out and tilted her head "Or is it the needles?"

Asher sighed. "James, you're helping us to deliver Heny's twins, so you'd better get used to blood."

"I don't wanna stab people," James said, folding his arms stubbornly.

"You're an android, you're not supposed to be grossed out by blood," argued Asher.

"Don't make me stab people!"

Asher gave up and went to help the hawk girls.

Kay rolled his eyes, switched to a fresh pair of gloves... man they were going to get through a lot of gloves doing this, and moved on to the final patient because it was less fuss than arguing with James. He made a note to force him to deal with the next incident that involved blood and wasn't an emergency, stand over him while he stitched a wound or something. HAH.

"You're funny James." Luka told him, still laughing.

At which point Matt showed up. "Yeah so uh.. Esk told me I had to come here and give blood or he'd smack me over the head with a broom? I'm really confused. "

Kay looked at him, and gestured he take a seat and wait.

Moone let Skye go first so she could go over to James and look up at him "You don't have to stab anyone James." She said and reached for his hand "I don't really like needles either."

James smiled at Moone. Man, she was such a nice kid. "I mean at least I don't get needles stuck in me I guess? But man, it's creepy stuff."

Asher smiled softly at Skye. The last time he had taken her blood was while being threatened by Kaylr back in the mirrorverse. It was nice that this time was more humane at least. He'd get her set up to draw her blood, hoping she wasn't thinking of last time.

Kay took Matt's blood.

"Man, I don't even get cookies." Matt complained. "ow." He yelped as Kay inserted the needle.

Kay shot him a disbelieving look. Come on, that didn't really hurt.

Matt huffed. "I'm sure you did that on purpose."

[Stop complaining. You can't even eat cookies.] Kay wrote.

Matt made a face. "But they look goooood"

Kay rolled his eyes again and set the bag up.

"I want cookies too!" James complained. "Why don't they ever think of us?"

Skye was watching Moone and smiling, she wasn't thinking about that last time.

Monne nodded and smiled at James then glanced back to Asher and Skye "Yeah, but sometimes, it's for good." She said then shrugged and headed back to the bed so she could get set up too.

"You are way too philosphical for a ten year old," James told Moone. "At your age, I was discovering the Fast and Furious franchise, I didn't think philosophical thoughts, I just watched the CGI ghosts of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker driving shiny cars."

Matt burst into laughter. "Okay, we gotta watch that. It sounds awesome."

Kay shook his head and gave Asher a knowing look. Their brothers huh? morons.

He pulled on a fresh set of gloves and went to set Moone up. [Ignore Matt, it doesn't really hurt much. A little pinch at most.]

"What is Fast and Furious?" Mone asked curiously. She hadn't heard of that before and would use it to distract her from the needle. Yeah, she wasn't going to look at it, even if it was just a pinch

"You'll love it, Matt. It's the biggest pile of hot people running around saving the world in cool cars, and 'family values', and more cars!" James smiled at Moone, "It's this amazing movie series. Not sure you're old enough yet though." He looked sad.

Asher smiled innocently at Kay. Fast and Furious was a guilty pleasure of his too.
