Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter One

One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

Dawn frowned a little at that and tilted her head "Luka did stay in her bed for two days and was reluctant to use magic healing. Sawna didn't even need blood afterwards for that simple healing. But I do understand your point, it isn't something to be done for every little thing...do we even have a blood supply for everyone on this ship?"

Asher nodded. "Her ability is incredibly powerful and unique. Having her use it on minor injuries is a tremendous waste of her abilities, and we don't want her to be used as some sort of cheap fix for people's mistakes. She's a person, not a band-aid."

Kay shook his head. [Our supplies were low to begin with but with Sawna's particular dietary requirements, we'll need a whole lot more. Also with so many people on this ship being unusual species or worse, hybrids, if by some great catastrophe they needed a transfusion, i'm not convinced we'd be able to do so.] He took a sip of his coffee.

Dawn frowned and dipped her head again, thinking for a while before looking to Kay again "Well, since you are back on duty again and I am off, why not start a blood drive? We can at least get mine for if it's needed."

Asher smiled at Dawn's idea. "That would probably be wise. Sadly I can't contribute, but perhaps others would be willing."

James punched the air. "Yay for no blood!"

Kay considered that, then nodded. [We may be able to convince some of the crew to donate. In most cases it'll be for them and only them anyway. I wonder if anyone here actually has a blood type compatible with anyone else. ] He rummaged through the drawers to find the needles and vials. He looked grimly to both Androids. [And my blood's a biohazard so it would seem Dawn is the only medic actually able to donate. Congratulations Dawn.]

Dawn chuckled and shrugged, moving to sit on the bed better so she could donate "Yeah, all we can do is ask anyway. If the others don't want to, that is up to them and we can ask for blood when we reach the guild to boost supplies." She looked to Vestia's camera to ask her to send a bot with orange juice and send an announcement for a blood drive from the passengers.

Vestia sent a bot to fetch the required juice, and announced the blood drive.

James looked amused. "It's kind of impressive how few medics can actually donate. You'd think we'd be able to, but we just can't!"

Kay shrugged. [You have no idea how often i had to lie or take extra shifts just so I could avoid compulsory blood drives. Even uninfected, i've no idea what shifter blood would do to a full blooded satare.]

He would take Dawn's blood.

"Well, you don't have to lie with us, we know already" Dawn said, trying to be lighthearted about that. "Though it probably wouldn't hurt to have some just for your use too. We wouldn't want to lose you."

Kay shrugged [I'm not entirely comfortable with having my blood put into storage, as I said, it's a biohazard. ]
He hung the bag so it could slowly fill and took his gloves off. Yes, he totally tied off the extra finger of the gloves so it didn't flop about in the way, what of it?

Dawn nodded and settled to wait for the bag to fill so she would be done with this for now. That was his choice after all.

James hid his amusement at Kay's glove adjustments pretty well. It was sort of funny to him though, and he sort of smiled.

Vestia's bot wandered in with orange juice and cookies.

Kay noticed James' smile and shrugged, hey, he was kinda used to getting stares and all that sort of thing.

Once Dawn's blood bag was full, he removed the needle and pressed a cotton swab onto the wound, indicating she hold it in place while he got the bandaid to go over it. He pulled his gloves off, labelled the blood bag and handed it to Asher to put into storage.

[Maybe we'll need to bribe the rest of the crew with cookies and stickers.] He smirked.

"Maybe we should buy some temporary tattoos for the brave donors, that's good incentive, right?" Asher joked, smiling. He took the blood bag to store it.

Dawn chuckled and took the juice and a cookie from the bot "Thanks" She sat back to sip it and eat the cookie happily enough.

Rigel came to the door and looked in curiously "A blood drive?"

Kay nodded to Rigel and tied a knot in a fresh pair of gloves.

Esk appeared as well. "So nobody's dead yet?" He managed to sound disappointed.

Kay rolled his eyes.

Rigel shrugged and glanced to Esk before going in "Why not, blood's always good to keep on hand, isn't it?"

Kay nodded and indicated Rigel sit on the edge of one of the beds so he could set up the needle and bag and all that. He gestured that Asher or James deal with Esk.

Asher went over to Esk. "Are you here to donate blood, or are you here to make insightful commentary?" He asked dryly.

Rigel got on the bed and glanced over to Dawn before holding his arm out for the needle "Just us Pandorans so far, huh?"

Esk smirked at Asher. "I can do both." He told him, he looked very faintly amused.

Kay was extremely efficient at taking blood, he got Rigel's tubing hooked up and took his gloves off to write up some additions to the stock list.

Asher laughed. "Fair enough. Until Kay kicks you out, at least." He got to work setting up to draw Esk's blood.

Dawn looked over to Esk and smiled a little at him adding to the supply too. "You get juice and a cookie after this." She said cheerfully

"You can even have a sparkly sticker," James told Esk brightly.

"Oh goodie, juice and a cookie. How spoiled we are." Esk remarked snidely, but he settled down on the edge of a bed and let Asher draw his blood. "And a sticker too? Wow, what a prize. Want me to go bully Matt into getting in here after this?" He asked Kay.

Kay nodded and smirked.

"How do you like the redecoration?" Esk asked casually.

Kay crumpled up the lemonade paper that had been laying where he'd dropped it and tossed it into the trash by way of answer.

"I'm surprised he hasn't driven you both outta here with a broom or something yet." Esk continued.

[I'm saving that for you little brother.] Kay told him.

Esk snickered.

Dawn chuckled and smiled at Kay and Asher. Yeah, they would probably put things back the way they had been, but it was fun to make labels and stuff. "I wonder who else will come to give blood."
