Upon Vestia: Chapter Eight

Starr held on when the airlocks were opened, keeping her position.  She waited to see who if any of the slavers would reach her first. Shane, doing the same in his position.

Skye and Moone nodded, moving closer to the vent to be ready to get the younger kids inside

"Hard to get a clear shot, but I'll try," Vestia said. She began targeting trying to calculate the best possible trajectories on all visible antennas, then firing on them in rapid succession.

Asher looked at the ventilation shaft, "All right, guys, do you have any powers we can use here?"

Matt looked back at the others. "Don't suppose you've got anything useful I could use to slow these guys down? Their stupid dampening field is screwing with my ability to access pocket space. I have.. a used rail ticket... wierd.. and a lot of bottlecaps... yeah not a lot. "

Asher dug in his pockets and found his tablet, the stun gun, and sedative patches. Then he rolled up his sleeve, opened the panel on his arm, and tore the charging and data cables out rather violently, before handing everything to Matt. "Electrocute them," he said with a grim smile.

Ellie handed over a spare pepper sprayer.

"I have a lot iof stuff in my room. " Skye said, checking her pockets and pulling out what she had as Moone did the same, showing ot to Matt and Asher. Strings, wires and a pair of pliers since she had forgotten she had them were the biggest things. Moone had her tablet from the ship supply and pieces of the dragon egg she had found after Cassi hatched. There was also some lint.

"Oh, flash bangs, if we can set that lint on fire." Skye said thoughtfully "Too bad we don't have any of Linux powder." (Like gunpowder )

"I can fetch supplies if you give me a list," Vestia offered, "I have a few bots free."

"Alchohol Vestia, the strongest stuff you can find. Anyone here got a lighter?"

He took the cable from Asher, nodding.

"We can make molotovs, flamethrowers and possibly napalm... " Matt pondered.

"I'll get the lighter and alcohol, and any other fiery things I can find," Vestia said. She told one of her more wimpy bots to start collecting the materials.

"I believe terrans call it charcoal, at least their version of the flash powder" Skye said. "And gum, or some other quick adhesive. Marbles would be good too."

"On it," Vestia said cheerfully, sending another bot to get Skye's supplies.

Matt got started on the traps as best he could once the droids started to return.

First he'd check the layout, how many corridors came off from this one, how many doors.

He covered the floor in water first, and froze it. "Vestia, can you keep the temperature here as low as possible? We need this as icy as it can get."

Next he'd set up a puddle of water the full width of the corridor and too long to jump. He used his teeth to strip one end of the cable to expose the wires, then plugged it into a nearby socket and trailed the end into the water. Electrifying it.

He left the prepping of molotovs and smoke bombs etc to the rest of the team, the hawk girls seemed to know their stuff.
He'd go help once he had this sorted.

Part way down the hall, the only way into the room they were now hiding in, he started to focus on a thick wall of ice to seal them in. Once the raiders chipped through that, they'd have a volley of explosives to deal with before being able to storm the room. Least, that was the hope.

As Starr opened the gate, only a five of them reacted quickly enough to activate their 3-D gear to stay in place, however one of them was vacuumed out to space, floating there, stranded, and for some reason, he didn't seem to care, merely going limp.

Matthew seemed to sigh, "They could have made it easier on themselves..." While his group was focusing fire on Starr, he looked down and began typing things into his computer. For one, he sent a reclaim ship to retrieve the men that had been floating out in space from Vestia's air pressure release, another was a containment ship, sent to Starr's open entryway. Finally, he authorized the control panel to begin trying to override Vestia's own systems, and the ship would hopefully have to divert her attention to battling the hackers. Slowly, the men began closing in on Starr...

Meanwhile the six other groups, each lead by a Keeper, traversed the halls, following the outermost lifesigns before moving in. The Keepers were obviously ahead of their team, using themselves as an initial shield until whatever resistance would ceasefire. Everywhere they traversed, the group would place down anti magic and motion detectors, slowly trying to thin out the hiding areas. From there, they began combing the ship.

Sonata would not hide with the kids, standing out front with the adults and ready to fight as Lilian held up her rifle...

"Yes Sir," Vestia said, lowering the corridor temperature to slightly below freezing, except near the electrified water, which she kept a heater playing over to maintain above freezing temperatures.
"They're trying to override my systems, so be prepared for erratic behavior," she warned.
The last of the bots arrived, carrying a few extra things they had asked for.

Mourn opened fire as soon as he saw movement, ducking for cover in the doorway, ducking out again, firing more. His aim was pretty damn good considering his optical implant, and the crazy music blaring didn't have any impact on him hah.

"You're doing great Vestia, keep giving em hell. We'll find a way to get you out of this too. I promise. We'll all get out of here. " Matt took the last few things and returned them to everyone else, and finished sealing them in with ice.

Feeling rather drained, he sat down beside this wall and kept one hand on it to keep it frozen.

Merith and his group would be quickly found and engage into combat, the three keepers focusing on disabling their magic abilities and keeping them distracted.

"Worry about the kids and yourselves," Vestia said, "I'm fine."

Asher looked at Matt, who seemed tired, with worry. "How are you holding up?"

Kay didn't have any "magical" abilities to use, in fact, he relied almost entirely on his claws and talons, wings and tail to try to overpower the keepers. He'd slash and claw and kick at them, all the while radiating a hideous psychic howl.

Matt smiled tiredly and shot Asher a thumbs up. "'S good. should slow em down... "

"When this is over, you get all the water you could ever want," Vestia said fondly. "Hang in there, Matt."

As matt listen, Thaila made a impulse move a move of just in case...he yanked Matt into a impulse kiss, I forgive you...damn did.

Matt was about to respond to Vestia when Thalia pulled him into a kiss. He kissed back, raising his free hand to pull him closer into it. "It's gonna be fine okay? We're gonna get out of this. Somehow.. " He tried to be all reassuring.

He sighed, It better be...I lost enough already

Matt smiled weakly. "Give em everything you got. When they get through this... give em everything. The if you can, all of you, RUN. "

Starr quickly shut the door again, shifting to her acid dragon form to spit acid at them, simce it was not magic per say, their magic diffusers wouldn't stop it. When they hid from that attack, she would shift again, opening the door and going out with that blast of air, flying through space to find a different way back in.

"I'm not leaving you." He said firmly.

"Don't be stupid Thalia. I can't crawl through vents. You have to protect the kids. "

He gritted his teeth, "Think I can fit either?"

Mourn's steady fire would be met with equal amounts. However as they continued to barrage him, their respective Keeper kept walking forward as if there wasn't a care in the world. He literally couldn't be killed by a pathetic little cat-bot-hybrid. How revolting. As he stepped closer to Mourn, he began leaning down a bit to tower over him, his eyes like a snake and his smile no more than a sadistic smirk, "Boo."

The men retreated quickly at Starr's spit. and when she opened the door again, Matthew rushed forward to close it. "Seal this exit closed. No one get's in this way again unless they want to hurt their precious ship." They welded the door shut and set up another anti-magic emitter, which sent out a pulse of dispersing tech against magic every second. The moved on to their next goal.

Merith set himself ready. At first, he considered the blade, but remembered Kay's words, and hesitated. The man was there, right in front of him, too. No time for that. He shook his head, instead preparing an inferno spell as he looked sideways at Vanessa, who began blending into the shadows like her pupil, "You don't think they brought their Guardians, do you...?"

"If they did, then Corvus, Quinn and I won't be able to do anything. Their Guardians have been Corrupted."

Matt smiled at Thalia and nodded.

"Have you guys got everything ready?" He asked the others, it was futile to argue with Thalia but thalia could read Matt's mind, he wasn't about to run. He fully intended to fight hard right till the end and he fully expected to die in the process. He seemed rather resigned to it in fact.

Mourn drew his sword, good eye narrowing at the keeper. He hissed, ears flattening and lunged at him, sword in one hand, razor clawed cybernetic arm the other.

You have an axe Merith, USE IT Kay lunged for one of the Keeper's with a massive clawed hand, ducking an attack as he tried to press the group back.
