Upon Vestia: Chapter Eight

Starr held on when the airlocks were opened, keeping her position.  She waited to see who if any of the slavers would reach her first. Shane, doing the same in his position.

Skye and Moone nodded, moving closer to the vent to be ready to get the younger kids inside

"Release the three-dimensional gear, now!" Every man on that ship simultaneously jetted the grappling hooks from their belt's that latched onto any surface they grabbed. The trained populace waited until the air was vacuumed out and they floated weightlessly in her halls. Once the danger of being sucked into deep space was over, the gear was released and returned to the harnesses, and now Matt was angry. "You really... shouldn't have done that."

There was a large, baritone alarm sound, and Vestia's collar would release a pulse of high voltage electrical energy through her, the collar designed perfectly for excruciating pain. Matthew returned his attention to his recruits, "Scanners on and weapons ready!" They complied and the men expertly traversed the weightless hallways.

Merith blinked at Kay, scrying for a moment as his eyes glowed, "Oh! So that's why your arcana pattern was strange. Vanessa, look at this!"

"Interesting." The green orb floated around Merith as if she were his own ball of magic, "This certainly explains what we've been seeing."

Kay tilted his head at them, no, questions could wait. Right now they had raiders to repel. He cringed at the sudden alarm, tail swishing in agitation.

Vestia shut off every speaker on the ship grimly as she yelled in pain, not wanting anyone to hear. Once she had recovered, she gasped furiously through Matthew's comm link, "I won't surrender, you bastard, and you know it."
She blasted her lights in the enemies' faces, cranking up their brightness to its highest setting to try and hurt them.

Mourn patted the wall reassuringly. "Good ship, brave ship. Bad guys die. Mourn help" He readied his gun and crept forward a little way. He hoped to cut the raiders off, get a few shots fired and then use his speed and small size to run for cover. Such a shame there was nothing decent to climb here, that always made for a useful ambush.

Another alarm, and another shock would be sent through Vestia for merely shining the lights as the helmet visors added some tint to their glasses. They kept moving effortlessly through the halls, "Priority one is the Starr Dragon, she'll be out here. Set your weapons to stun." Matthew mostly ignored Vestia, merely commenting, "I think all of you make quite a team. You're all gratingly annoying."

Vestia stayed silent, fuming. Oh, they were going to regret this. She was going to make sure of that. She waited for them to get into the areas of the ship that were still pressurized.

Thaila would hand Asher a hand gun as he helped rounded the kiddies to hopeful safety.

Asher holstered his own weapon. "Thanks, Thalia," he said. He wasn't looking forward to killing, but he would do it to protect the people he cared about.

Starr growled and looked at the men, putting them in individual bubbles then opening the nearest airlock to them.

As soon as Starr cast her magic, each man pressed a button on their armor, and send a wave of magic disperse, and the orbs easily shattered. Before she reached the door, they opened fire on her with the stun guns...

Starr dodged their shots, growling and jumping at the closest to try to knock his helmet off his head.

Vestia flashed her lights blindingly and repeatedly to confuse the intruders, guessing Star Dragons could handle changes in brightness well. She blasted loud, chaotic techojazz metal down the corridor where Mourn was, hitting maximum volume with no worry for his ears.

Mourn signed rapidly to Vestia's cameras with suggestions. He grew up with pirates, raiding was something he had a lot of experience with and he'd learned a fair few interesting and novel attempts others had made to stop them. <Overpressurise a few rooms, when they force the door it'll throw them backward. Make some rooms and halls dark, then when they enter, throw the lights to maximum. Lull them into a false sense of security, get them activating their night vision, then blind them. > He hopped from foot to foot, itching to shoot something. <gravity, turn it off, then on, then off, then on. Warn me before you do it here, i'll grab onto something. > he could fight in zero gravity just fine.

---You're the brilliant, Mourn--- Vestia replied affectionately, overpressurizing rooms and dimming lights selectively. She was not giving up until all was lost, no matter how many times they zapped her.

Mourn patted the wall again. "Beautiful brave ship, raiders regret boarding." He smiled nastily. "Warn when about to breach doors. I shoot."

---Will do--- replied the ship, monitoring the raiders' positions closely.

The helm would be almost impossible to get off, since it was connected to the suit -- what did she expect? It was a space suit after all, designed to handle the extremities outside the ship. The invader she had leaped at grabbed onto her and fired her at point blank.

Starr flinched at the shot, growling at the pain then digging her claws into the suit of the one holding her even as she flared her wings. She flapped furiously, tearing into the suit and pulling that one away from the others.

The man screamed as he was dragged to the ground, but his comrades swiftly began firing the tasers in Starr's direction, "Get the nets!"

Corvus would quickly lead Heny away from the fighting, heading to the center of the ship. He shielded his charge with his wings, preparing to fight when the time arise but wanted Heny somewhere safe first.

Kay stuck close to Merith, listening for signs of the raiders.

All the keepers and protectors would sense the third player enter the battle. Isis snorted as she started to move her way with her three companions to Merith and the teacher and student. They knew they had to take them out first to make the rest a easy catch.

Thor looked at his protector, "Keep the raven busy until we are done." He told the black mass, watching is slither off like a hound dog towards it target ready to take out any that get in it's way.

They're coming. Kay tensed, tail twitching, wings half raised. If nothing else, he made an effective shield with that wingspan.
Please tell me you have a plan.

Asher looked at all the children, who looked terribly afraid, then at the adults. "If the invaders make it in here, we need to be ready," he said quietly. "Thalia and I can provide a diversion while the rest of you escape into the ventilation."
