Upon Vestia: Chapter Eleven

She blinked and nodded, "Yea...?"

Kay was very puzzled by Heny, but he tried not to let it show. He nodded. [In his defense, he did think you were awake. Do ALL keepers wake up punching?]

Merith had indeed clothes himself, but did not stay, rather, walked out, only to meet up with Vanessa. The woman looked at him, slightly concerned. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." He lied, "What is it?"

Vanessa shook her head. She knew him too well, but did not press further on what ailed him. "I need to talk to you..." She glanced up at Vestia's camera. "Privately."

"Uhm...I know Thaila does." She said with a shrug.

[Yes, my brother has had enough bruises to make that fairly obvious. ] Kay watched Merith go, well, either that was a good thing... or there was some terrible retribution to come later. Either way, good riddance.
[Just try to avoid it in the future. No matter how much you want to, you'll hurt yourself and do absolutely no damage to him. ]

She sighed and nodded, "very well.

[I'd request you refrain from punching me as well, but that's more for selfish reasons.] He smiled. [If you need anything just call.]

Softly she chuckled, "Fine fine...and of course Kay."

Kay nodded and left her, extremely unsure about how to feel about all this. She seemed...well.. herself. That was reassuring right? But knowing she wasn't entirely aware of what had been done to her made him very uneasy. Had Merith explained anything? Did he ever intend to?
He shook his head and returned to the medical room.

The medical room now had another occupant, and her presence had actually caused Shock to start staring at the shelf, confused and unsure if he was really seeing the tiny bounty huntress that was now boredly flipping through medical books and reading silently.

Kay stared at the tiny girl and carefully approached. Wasn't that the same girl he'd probably hallucinated in the vents? Huh..
Damnit she'd totally messed up the neatly ordered shelves. -_-

He tapped his hand on the desk to get her attention.

Sara nearly jumped out of her skin. She had a close enough reaction where she literally squeaked and leaped like a flea to the highest shelf and stared down at Kay suspiciously, nervous.

Kay looked up at her warily, and typed on his tablet.

[Who are you and what are you doing?] He held the tablet up so she could hopefully read it.

"Sara." She said simply after reading it. "And I'm reading."

[Can you come down here, this is really going to hurt my neck.] Kay wrote, settling down at his desk. Eugh, naked merith.. now tiny people.
Asher totally picked his day off perfectly. Curse him.

"You won't put me in a jar like Mourn did, will you?" Still, she jumped down all the same. She blinked up at him, frowning slightly.

[I don't have any empty jars.] Kay wrote. [I'm Kay, you're the bounty hunter right?] Hmm, teeny tiny bounty hunter. She really didn't look like much of a threat but he knew full well that didn't mean a lot.
He looked to shock, tilting his head and trying to get his attention, if he could.

Saraphine nodded, "I am, but apparently it's a false bounty, right?"

Shock was still staring, but blinked when Kay was trying to get his attention. The bird man looked down at the sheets again, still silent, but his gaze didn't seem to be as dull as before.

Kay nodded. [Yes, this is just a cruise ship full of misfits with superbly bad luck.]
He held up the tablet for Shock. [How are you feeling?]

The tiny person laughed at that, but fell silent when the attention was no longer focused on her and went back to reading on of the books.

Shock shrugged, still not looking at him.

Well not looking was going to make communicating hard.

[Welcome back.] Kay wrote. At least sort of back anyway.

[How are you able to read something so much larger than you are?] Kay asked the girl, facinated by her awkward reading method. He pondered whether they had anything a bit smaller she could read on. Maybe a phone screen? hmmm.

Shock flashed a grin, granted a soft, side-eyed one.

Sara looked back up at Kay, showing a bit of excitement. "I can handle it. It's better than it being too small for you, right?"

She looked down at the pages hungrily, "I only recently found out about pleasure-reading. I've never been able to do that. People read for fun! How cool is that?"

Kay looked bemused. [Medical text books aren't what most people consider fun reading.] He told her. Nevermind that he totally read them when bored, nope.

He smiled at Shock, honestly rather relieved to see him grin like that. [Do you feel up to solid food yet or would you rather just sit?]

"What else do people read?" She asked Kay in wonderment, completely enarmoured at the thought...

"I think I'm okay for now..." Shock's voice cracked from lack of use, barely a whisper as he still looked down.

Kay looked at the tiny girl. [All sorts of things. My homeworld is fairly dry with their literary output, but the terran empire i'm told has a remarkable output. in fact, this ship may have a library on board, she has everything else.] He'd have to check a map. He held up a hand though, indicating that he had to do something else for a moment. He stood and went over to Shock.

Conversations could wait till he was certain the patient was actually okay.

[It's a relief to see you up at least. Are you in any pain?] Emotionally there wasn't much Kay could do to help, but damnit, he was going to do everything medically he could here.

"Mm, it's sore still, but it only hurts when I move it." He chuckled dryly, "I tore myself up pretty bad, didn't I?" Shock's second attempt to put a positive spin fell flat on its face again as the smile and laughter dropped from his face.

Kay nodded. [Apparently so. Do you think you're able to take it easy for another few days? ] He noticed his attempts at humor. [We'll be docking at Defiant station in a few days, what would you say to speaking to a professional about all this?] Of course he meant a therapist, but he hated therapists himself and half expected everyone else to flinch at the word as well.

Shock blinked, looking slightly confused and disdainful, "A therapist? What would they do? They can't do shit about anything..." He said bitterly.
