Rey hesitated, before slowly inching forward. She watched the two, before tilting her head questioning manner. What were they doing? She wondered. Kay seemed tired and upset. She didn't like that he was that way, so she had decided to give him something she had planned on giving him a long time ago as a thank you. She had one for Asher, too, of course, but she never brought up the courage to give them to the two medics.

First, she approached Kay. Sheepishly she brought forth one hand. In it was a small...

... Doll. A plush doll, simply made with thick stitches and button eyes. It was a little rough, but fairly good coming from a child. The doll itself looked like Kay. She had chosen out yarn to match his hair color and specific buttons to as close to his eye color as possible. The doll had a doctor's lab coat on it, and dark stitches across its face was in a wide smile. Rey smiled shyly and held it up to Kay. Yours.

Kay stared from doll to child, and hesitantly took the thing. He wasn't entirely sure how to react, he was bad with kids.
But the gesture was touching, and the professional part of him was relieved to see the child was channeling some of her miriad issues into something constructive and creative. An outlet like this would be good for her. He smiled softly and nodded a silent thank you.

Rey smiled, looking happy. She then turned to Asher, and held up his gift, which was another doll, but looked like Asher himself instead of Kay. Her eyes were brighter now, more sure of herself now that the first gift was accepted.

Asher took the doll gently, surprised that Rey had gone to so much effort to make these. And for the two people she had feared most at first, no less. "Thank you," he said softly.

Rey's smile broadened into a grin, and a happy laughter escaped from her throat. Suddenly without warning, she hugged Asher. In doing so, she looked over to Kay with a questioning gaze. She thought he needed a hug too, but she didn't want to upset him more.

Kay smiled and stood up so she could hug him too. She was a funny kid, but yeah, he couldn't help but empathize with her. It was hard to stay mad or anxious when there was a tiny child around hugging people and making dolls.

Asher hugged her back, hesitantly, and not for very long. He didn't want to accidentally scare her; living beings had very confusing personal boundaries sometimes, and it was way too easy to accidentally cross them.

Rey grinned when Kay stood up, and as soon as she was done hugging Asher, she bounced over to KAy and hugged him, squeezing him as tightly as possible with a wide smile.

Kay awkwardly sorta patted her on the head and didn't hug her back, but he did let her cling to him. He shot Asher a "I have no idea what's going on" look.

This turn of events had caught them both off guard, and Asher wasn't really sure what to do either. He hadn't spent much time around the few kids who had lived at the space station, so he really had very little idea what to do.
It was certainly sweet, though.

Rey looked up at Kay and grinned before stepping back. She bounded to the door to leave the two alone, but not before waving a hearty goodbye to them with a smile that plainly waited for them to return.

Asher waved back as the girl left. When she was gone, he turned back to Kay, smiling slightly. "Well. I don't know about you, but I certainly didn't expect that."

Kay looked shocked, he nodded slowly [in a way, it's a very good sign of progress from her. ] Nope, he still had no idea.

"Very good indeed," Asher agreed. He looked at the doll Rey had given him for a while, then carefully set it on a shelf where it could be easily seen.

[Perhaps she'll be alright after all.] Kay looked hopeful. [I wouldn't have guessed this would be the ideal environment for children but they all seem to be thriving. ] He shook his head, the distraction was helpful.

DAY 6, AFTERNOON

Asher made sure his tablet was charged, stuffed some yarn and a crochet hook in his pocket, and went to the med bay find Kay, since Kay usually liked to spend time there. He wasn't sure he was ready for this, really, but he knew it would be much better than letting Kay go alone.

Kay was fiddling with things on the shelves, rearranging them in a distracted manner. He turned when Asher walked in, immediately trying to put on a brave face and failing miserably. he was terrified, but he didn't really want Asher to know this. He'd just worry. He forced a smile.

The android saw through Kay's act immediately and did worry, but he tried to not show it. "It'll be all right," he said in the calmest tone he could manage, as much to himself as to the other medic, "We have a cruise ship and immortals on our side."

Two Avians would come to get Kay, allowing anyone who wanted to come with them.

Kay lowered his head as the Avian's came for them, he reached out for Asher's hand. If they were going to use this excuse, may as well play it up, make it believable. Also he really wanted the comfort right now, but he was going to convince himself it was for the act, honest.

Matt had bid him farewell and good luck earlier, and now waved when he caught a glimpse of them in the hallway. "See you later okay?" He tried to keep his tone light.

Kay nodded and forced a surprisingly convincing smile as they followed the bird people.

They said nothing other then assuring him it will be alright, he was lead to a small yet comfortable land rover to ride in with hem, they would answer any question ask to their best abilities.

Asher took Kay's hand and squeezed it gently, he looked at him questioningly, not sure if he wanted to ask any questions himself, or if he wanted Asher to do the talking.

Kay tried to put on a brave face, he'd done this so many times, but of course, he'd never had such an audience. That was what made him so anxious.
He asked for clarification of the precise process of what would happen, how secure their facility was, sedatives and all the extremely pragmatic stuff.

They replied explaining the location, set up and all protocals in place. It was obvious they try to not kill their guests and prefer to keep them sedated and not causing harm to their people or themselves.

Kay seemed satisfied with that, if not a little surprised by how accommodating they were.
[Do you see this often?] He had to ask, it had been nagging at him ever since they'd first landed. How common was lycanthropy on this side of the universe that they had protocol? and compassionate protocol at that?

"Every year or so at least one or two come our way, more trying to escape their world since they are wanted dead for something they couldnt stop." He explained, "our goddess enforced that all life is sacred so we took that in mind setting this up."

Kay looked dubious about the goddess part, but who was he to argue with that? He nodded. [Generally, people don't live long if they stay on planet anyway. ] He didn't ask any more, looking to Asher to see if he wanted to ask anything.
