Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-Five

Starr shrugged and looked out the window again. "I don't know. I just want things to be normal."

Armin nodded sympathetically. "Adapting to a life of freedom is difficult after so long in captivity, the loss of a limb does not help matters." He'd lost a leg in his escape all those years ago, he really did empathise.

He nodded in agreement, "Also adding in the mixture of a father he never met and learning you have six more siblings plus a few nieces and nephews probably didn't help." Marcus rubbed his forehead, "My wife is going to kill me.."

Armin tilted his head. "Why?" He didn't really understand monogomy, it was just flat out weird to him. "Were you unfaithful?"

"Hell no, If I was I would be avoiding coming home... no unfortunately Amari is a painful reminder of our path.." Karcus said with a sigh.

Armin shook his head. "But your past is not your doing and you have an obligation to your offspring do you not?"

Starr pet the egg then looked up to Armin again "It's that he has a child not by his mate, it's a monogamy thing. In a monogamous relationship the only offspring should be from the mate and no other, that makes the female angry sometimes." Starr tried to explain a little.

"No but what happen in our last both equally haunt us, he... unfortunately reminds us both of the offsprings we had that weren't so lucky to find freedom or were deem genetically inferior." He said the last part softly.

"I do not understand, why will she be angry at you for what was done to you by others?" Armin just couldn't wrap his head around it. He bowed his head. "Forgive me, I simply do not understand."

"It.. more she angry at others but can't really take them out on them." Marcus tried to explain.

"I wish you luck in placating her." Armin told him, apparently this man's mate wasn't a very reasonable female.

"I have... my ways." He said with a slight flush, referring to more sexual manners.

Armin chuckled. "i am certain you do."

TIMESKIP - MAY 17, 2790

Asher had promised Kay yesterday that he would take care of the arran's checkups, so this morning he got to do that, hurrah. If Kay was worried, he half-jokingly reassured Kay that he was lucky and would therefore be fine. He went to collect what he needed in the med bay, before heading up to the vampires room. He really hoped he wasn't going to regret this. It was going to stink if one of those guys got territorial on him and mauled him.

Ellie was so mad about the rescuing a slaver thing, that she couldn't sleep, so she stayed up all night growing that treehouse, before falling asleep on the grass under the treehouse.

Ethan went online shopping for audiobooks, because why not?

Sawna kept up with the time, bringing the blood bags every four hours. It wasn't something they could do for an indeterminate amount of time, but for now, she had enough, thanks to the guild.

Starr had returned to her room, resting and thinking.

Skye had gone back to her room when Ellie left, she wasn't going to disturb Starr while she was resting.

After a few more bags of blood Marcus would assure Sawna that both he and his son was to strength and wouldn't need any more for a couple of days. Amari would begrudgingly listen to 'how to lean common for beginners" audio books as Marcus enjoyed some of the films. Asher would find himself being greeted by marcus who make sure his body language wasn't threatening to the android, though he was ready for the silent judgement to come.

Asher smiled at Marcus when he answered the door. The expression did look slightly forced.
"Good morning. I hope you were able to sleep well?"

Ethan decided to go visit Starr. He selected some books he thought might match her tastes, and headed to her room to knock lightly on the door.

Matt had sulked most of the previous evening and even now wasn't feeling his usual sociable self. He'd gone to the holodeck to distract himself with stuff that made it feel like he wasn't totally uselessly confined to a wheelchair.

Armin had returned to his sewing. He was making little plushies for the children.

Kay was worrying about blood supplies and all that sort of thing. He trusted Vestia to contain the Arran should they turn feral and start trying to hurt anyone, but he wasn't certain how keen the crew were going to be about donating blood to them. Hmm.

He decided against going to look for Matt, he'd just get ranted at and he didn't quite have the energy for that.
He loved his brother, but Matt was NOT himself right now and Kay had no real idea how to help.

Amity continued to help in the cafe, he was a good little robot who did as he was told.

Hewitt no doubt totally thrashed Ethan at chess. This morning he was sleeping off his victory.

Mourn had fallen asleep at his desk again. this android reprogramming thing was tricky.

He gave a smile back, one of which of courtesy. "I slept well enough, I don't sleep long due to habit." He shrugged moving aside for the android. Amari looked at asher with not a look of hunger but curiosity, akin to a child. He let out a soft purr like greeting hoping that it wouldn't freak the man of metal.

"Well I'm glad you weren't too uncomfortable," Asher said. He wheeled into the room, and looked toward Amari. "Good morning, do you mind if I check your injuries for you?" The smile he gave Amari was more genuine than the one he gave Marcus, he was less nervous about the feral kid than the ex-slaver.

A couple of the new androids decided to go to the med bay to see Kay. They'd heard a weird rumor from Ellie that they wanted confirmed or denied.

Kay looked up at the androids as they came in, not entirely sure what to make of their appearance. Were they here for Asher? that was his assumption.
[good morning?] he wrote.

Amari nodded yes, sniffing the new person with curiosity, for once his tail was able to be seen but he coil it away. The tail itself was bony in nature, the tip having three blade like protrusion like used to help ensnare food for easier feasting. Marcus watch the interaction with curiosity himself, and softly snickered as Amari suddenly started to purr loudly and rub his head on Asher's arm like a cat.

The androids were Moriah and Bess, although since the androids hadn't exactly been hugely sociable with Vestia's crew so far, it was okay if Kay didn't remember them.

"Good morning," Moriah said, smiling brightly.

Bess looked less cheerful, although with her limited facial expression range, it was hard to tell. "Yes, good morning. Asher's not here, I guess?"

Asher blinked in surprise at Amari's catlike behavior. It was kind of hard to decide whether that was terrifying or adorable. Normally someone so large and toothy and humanoid, with a stabby tail, didn't act like that, so Asher wasn't really sure.
Oh well, just gotta roll with it. Asher had gotten pretty good at going along with bizarre and unexpected situations during his time on Vestia.
He hesitantly started trying to scan Amari, being careful not to make any sudden moves.

Kay shook his head. [He's checking on our new... guests. ] Yes, guest was a better term than anything else wasn't it? [Did you want to talk to him about something?]

"Oh yes, we heard there were new people," Moriah said. She sounded kind of excited. "Vestia says we're not to visit them, she didn't say why."

Bess looked amused. "We probably wouldn't have visited them anyway."

"This is so mysterious though, you can't help but be curious why we're not allowed to see them," Moriah said. "They must be something really unusual."

"Or they're completely boring, but being kept under quarantine," Bess suggested.

Moriah looked crestfallen at that idea. She liked her hypothesis better.

"Anyway," Bess said, returning her attention to the matter they'd come here about, "We were looking for Asher, but you should know the answer to this question too."

Amari would kindly stop so to give asher the ability to scan him. While he technically only had one leg the one was very much to what true Arran had, with three like toes and webbed the feet were made to walk on their toes like a raptor almost. He had a bony like 'blade' that was hollow in the middle on the back of his calf. His markings were more vibrant at the moment being a near teal blue. He had spike like spine that was down for now but obviously could be arched up like a cat if needed. While he clearly had some of his father's feature the genetic makeup was a throw back to the more classical Arran. He kept on purring obviously taking a liking to this metal being who showed kindness to him.

Kay smiled softly at Moriah's enthusiasm. [Until we know more about them, I think it's better to leave them be.] He tilted his head at Bess. He wasn't sure if he could answer their questions, but he'd try. [What is it?]

Asher had had a look at some arran biology texts last night, so he kind of knew what to expect about what Amari looked like. Still, it was pretty interesting to see how all that worked in an actual living being. These guys were so very predatory looking, but thankfully Amari didn't seem to be acting like a predator, so that was nice.
"Okay," he said after looking at the scan to make sure the injuries all matched Kay's report, "Now I have to change your bandages, okay? This might hurt, but I'll try to be careful." He didn't know if Amari would understand, hopefully Marcus could translate if he didn't.

"Moriah was talking to someone the other day, and she was told that you and Asher were... dating..." Bess said. She didn't look like she liked the idea of that much.

Moriah ducked her head. Yeah, she'd been gossiping with Ellie, or rather getting Ellie to tell her all the ship's gossip. Whoops?
