Starr shrugged and looked out the window again. "I don't know. I just want things to be normal."

"Just imagine him on sugar." He laughed, then sighed. "they had tens of thousand of years to selectively breed. There few purebreds left but they are a oddity."

Kay took inventory, making a careful note on his tablet.

"But what if they're cruel?" Ethan asked. "What if the leader wants to use their people as slaves?" He couldn't help wondering what would happen then.

"I'm not sure I want to imagine him on sugar," Vestia said. "That long? That's awful."

Marcus laughed, "At least chocolate calms us." He rolled his neck watching as Amari used his unnaturally long tail to get a itch on his back. "Yeah, that why we can't find our own home planet... and technically we ended up our own subspecies, just I don't think the council wants to admit it."

"Well that's something at least," Vestia said, amused. "Do you think there might still be free arran on your planet, whenever it is?"

"Rumors say so, and I personally do hope so... Amari probably won't fit on the colony well because he is a genetic through back, a bitter reminder lf what we were.." he sighed shaking his head, " but it one of the only safe places for our kind."

"He can't help being the way he is, they must understand that," Vestia said. "And there are places where people can go to be safe elsewhere." She thought of the Guild of Scribes, but she wasn't sure if it was safe to even mention their existence the Marcus. Not to mention the oath she'd taken that made giving their location away impossible. Hmm.

"We can't, we are connected to our people." Starr replied and chuckled "It would be like putting ourself into slavery"

"they do but it hard to accept for some. Most places aren't keen to have a blood drinker among them, rightfully so too." He shrugged.

"Some people are pretty messed up though," Ethan said, but Starr's explanation did make sense to him.

"Don't worry, one like that wouldn't hold power long. That's why we have emergency councils and such. Or rather the other universe does." Starr said, frowning then shaking her head a little.

Marcus nodded, "I want what best for him, which is easier said then done." He watched as Amari started to doze hanging upside down.
