She chuckled, "It is, trust me I been there." Softly her face faltered before returning back to normal. "anyway... i uh have no clue what else to ask." Thaila said sheepishly.

Kay worked flat out till one of the doctors told him he HAD to take a rest before he collapsed.
So he sat to one side, drinking water and eating what little he could find, worrying and watching all the incoming wounded for any sign of his crew and family.

Meanwhile up in space Mourn and Shane would finally find the Silver Devil airlock and probably meet up with the others.
Mourn waved. "We crawl through air ducts" he declared happily. "You kill last of keeper? We get blow up ship now?"

At the hospital Esk woke up. It was chaos outside but he'd been kept specifically isolated in his own room for fear he might hurt the already severely hurt.
He frowned at the empty room, rubbed his head and tried to work out why he felt so crappy.
He remembered being attacked, but not much beyond that.
Skye! He remembered Skye! Was she alright?
He felt his side, pulling up his shirt to look at the healed gash in his side. Hmmm...

Weakly he hefted himself to his feet, wobbling a bit he held onto his IV stand for support and wandered out into the chaotic screaming bloodied hallway.

Wow...

He scanned the crowd, people laying on stretches and gurneys littered the corridor, the walking wounded were huddled against walls grey faced and sombre.
The medics all looked exhausted.

then he saw a familiar face. Dawn? He felt a surge of panic.
He pushed his way through people to get to her side and stood watching her breathe, reassuring himself she was alive.

"Sir." Someone spoke, Esk ignored them.
"Sir" they were more insistent. "Sir you really shouldn't be up and about, go back to your room. You need to rest."

Esk turned. "Is she alright?" He asked dully.

The medic paused. "She's a friend?"

Esk frowned, then nodded slowly. "Crewmate... "

The medic sighed and came over to read Dawn's chart. "Exhaustion by the looks, she just needs to sleep. "

Esk nodded.

"please sir, you have to go back to your room."

Esk shook his head, he wasn't leaving her.

The medic threw up both hands, they didn't have time for this. "fine, see if I care. " they marched off to tend more patients.

Someone gave up a chair for Esk, they seemed to think he needed to sit down.
He wasn't totally sure why, then again, he hadn't seen how bad he looked yet.
He sat down though, and didn't take his eyes off Dawn.
She better wake up.

Dawn wouldn't wake up for at least a day, she had given everything she could in this fight and needed the rest. For now, she just looked peaceful.

Shane was glad when they found the Devil, going in to strap himself to a seat so he could stop moving for a bit. The wound had closed over when he shifted, but the bullet was still inside and being a bother to him.

Skye smiled at seeing Mourn, coming over to give him a hug because he was alive and so was she.

Sawna watched a screen smiling as the people started to come back down. Now she would venture out to try to find Kay and see if he knew if everyone was alright.

Rigel came back to the SD, taking his seat and waiting for the word that everyone was loaded up, since they couldn't exactly undock with this ship without making it lose all air pressure. Not with all the holes cut into the airlocks....oops?

Everyone got into ships and prepared to leave. There was lots of head counting and double checking, nobody wanted one of the good guys to get sucked into space when the Family's ship depressurized.

Mourn was a bit bewildered by Skye's hug. "you got black on you." He told her. She had a bit of blood on her from kneeling over Esk with the keeper.

Luka waited for the signal before she'd begin undocking, She smiled to herself as she heard everyone getting aboard. Grateful everyone was okay.

Esk stayed by Dawn's side, periodically drifting off in his seat, then waking up with a start. Eugh..

Kay looked up as Sawna came in, he stood up and rushed over. Any news?

Skye frowned ad looked down, having forgotten she had gotten his blood on her "Yeah, Esk! Is he alright? It's his blood. That keeper almost killed him, right before another grabbed me."

Sawna blinked then frowned and shook her head "I came to find you to see if you knew anything. I will start looking" She said, touching his arm gently (and likely giving him a small boost accidentally.) before turning to leave quickly. Yay for non-terran living blood.

Mourn blinked and wrinkled his nose. "Death man blood? yuck."
He shrugged, he had no idea where anyone who wasn't here was.

Kay frowned, that was concerning. Matt's here, he's hurt. I don't know about anyone else. I haven't seen them. He nodded and jolted slightly at the sudden boost of energy. That was... weird. thank you. He meant the finding people thing, but also it was nice to get some energy.

Swarm might find Sawna, they were also searching for people. Not just friends, but anyone injured who hadn't been gotten yet.

Skye frowned and took her seat for the ride down.

Sawna saw Swarm, or the part there and smiled a little "Hello, friend, do you know where any of the crew is now?" She asked. Yeah she was worried about them, but thankful to not have to go back out in the sun just yet.

Ethan, James, and Ellie all got seated, as did all the people they had just rescued.

Ships started disconnecting from the Family's last ship, heading back to the Guild.

Swarm bobbed up and down. "Matt hurt, taken to medical facility. Professor Hewitt is nearby. Dawn is at the hospital. Shane was fighting, we do not know where he went. Mourn, Ellie, James and a few others went to a ship. Tala was taken to medics" They hadn't seen everyone unfortunately. "We have not seen Asher in a while, nor Skye, nor Esk or the hologram.." They wobbled in the air. "Most seem to be going to the medical facilities, we suggest searching those first. We shall continue searching buildings for survivors."

Sawna nodded at the report, going back in to let Kay know that much before she would head for the next medical facility and the one after that when that one didn't seem to have anyone she knew. Along the way, she would find Amity and gently picked up the drone, taking him inside a building so she would be in the shade again. "My little friend, they shot you down" She frowned as she looked at the damage. She liked the little drone, he was nice to have around the shop with her.

The boarding party ships raced away from the Family's craft, which emptied of air, corpses, and other objects in a rather spectacular manner. The ships would head into the city so anyone who had been hurt in the raid could be treated.

Ellie was already busy cleaning her own porcupine stab wounds as they flew, making noises of pain at the sting of the ointment she was using. The ships would land wherever they could to drop off the wounded.

The little drone was a bit dented and scuffed, the lovely paintwork now even more gouged up. One of the fans was completely destroyed and the others looked bent and twisted. As well as being shot down the little thing had likely been kicked by people running and not noticing it.
it was completely deactivated, someone who knew how to fix machines might be able to repair it, if the internal memory drive was intact.
Certainly this thing wasn't going to fly again any time soon.

Luka brought them down awkwardly, the SD had sustained a fair bit of fire in the fight and the old girl was acting up as a result.
But they landed, maybe a bit too roughly. oops.

"Sorry!" She yelled as they came down with a thump.

Mourn licked his paw and checked for any injuries. His white fur was flecked with blood and dirt but a fair bit of it probably wasn't his.

Kay was deeply concerned that Swarm hadn't seen Asher or Esk, or Dawn they had to be somewhere right?
he went back to work because he had to, the medics were all totally overworked but they didn't have a choice. there were only so many of them and so so many wounded.

Ellie cheered as they landed, glad to still be alive, even if she was bloody and exhausted and wanted to hibernate for three days. "Thanks Luka!" She called.

The boarding party all started helping each other out of the ship, trying to get everyone to one of the severely overcrowded hospitals.

James hauled someone along who could barely stand. Ellie and another girl propped each other up. Ethan gritted his teeth and let someone lean on him.

They might end up at the hospital where Kay was, whoo.

Sawna would take the drone to Vestia, asking if any had returned or if she had any news and relaying what she knew so far as well as grabbing her umbrella. Yeah, Amity could be looked after by the bots while she searched more.

Shane grunted at the bump then sighed, waiting for the others to clear out before even trying to unbuckle and get up. Sheesh, crowds.

Rigel frowned at the bump. well, he had known they would need to fix the girl up after this fight, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Luka unstrapped and came down to greet the others, helping the passengers and smiling weakly to Rigel. "We'll get her back up again." She told him, noticing the grim look in his face.

But right now people needed medical care. Ships could wait.

She helped someone along who kept calling her young man, she grit her teeth and gave up correcting them.

Kay looked partially relieved when he spotted at least some familiar faces in the crowd, he looked utterly and completely frazzled. His hair was a mess, his scrubs were stained and his expression was one of grim determination mixed with a large dose of exhaustion.

He rushed over along with some other nurses who started taking patients away or sitting them down depending on their injuries.
An orderly brought them all glasses of water.

Vestia filled Sawna in on the news, telling her Asher had returned and filling her in on any gossip she'd gotten. She had her bots take Amity somewhere safe for now.

Ethan caught sight of Kay, and stopped for a bit, just staring at him. Well that was... incredibly surreal. The guy he was helping nudged his arm to get him to move, and he started helping him again.

Ellie took her water gratefully as soon as she and the girl she was helping found somewhere to sit. "Thanks," she said. She looked around the room unhappily, wow, a lot of people had been hurt in this fight.

James looked very queasy all of a sudden.

Kay fixed James with a look [Are you damaged?] He wrote quickly. James had medical training, sort of, if he could be of any help they needed him.

Mourn looked around, lapping at the water. "Where everyone else?"

Kay shrugged. [Matt's here, otherwise I don't know. Sawna and Swarm are looking for everyone else. I haven't seen them yet, but it's chaos here. It's chaos across the city, in case you haven't noticed we haven't got nearly enough medics and far too many people dying before we can reach them.] Yes, he was stressed, super stressed.

"My right arm's useless, but if you want a left-handed medic, I guess I can help," James said doubtfully. There was so much blood in here, so much screaming. Like Heny's delivery, only hundreds of times worse.
He helped his guy to sit down, then came back over.

[Even a one handed medic is going to help at this point. Try to make sure everyone's comfortable, well, as comfortable as possible. I have to get back to work.] Kay nodded to the group of them and rushed off, disappearing back into the chaos.

Sawna nodded and told Vestia to let Kay know if anyone showed up safely here before heading out to look for people and help those she could find along the way. If she could get a peacekeeper to get her some keeper blood, she could keep going pretty much indefinitely, healing those she came into contact with. Man, keeper blood was good and super strong to her...she could get addicted to that if she wasn't careful

James unhappily got to work. Man, this was almost worse than the battle itself. He started helping to patch more minor injuries, bring water to people, assist medics with what they were doing, whatever the heck he could manage with only one working arm.

Ethan joined in too. Hey, they needed all the help they could get around here, and even if he had no actual medic training, he did at least know some first aid.

Vestia couldn't really notify Kay of anything while he was off in the city, the hospitals were too busy to really be doing much communication at the moment.

DAY 28

Tala carried Starr's laundry into the city, and got directions to the missing persons center. She inquired about Starr's location, and when no one knew, she got one of the searchers to have their dog give Starr's clothes a good sniff, and then followed them into the city to try and find her scent.

She had a good sense of smell, but it was nothing compared to that of a trained and genetically engineered hound.

Orel was released from the hospital, and he left to have a walk around the city. His wounded wing was bound to his side, his face was bruised up, his clothes were grimy, and he walked with a limp, but otherwise he looked okay.

He surveyed the city in awe and horror. Damaged buildings, blood, scorch marks, discarded weapons, and even a few bodies scarred the once-almost-perfect city. Yesterday he hadn't really been able to absorb it because, well, he was pretty distracted. Today he was able to take it all in, and the scale of the destruction left him a bit breathless.

It really was amazing that so many people had survived the battle.

Kasi had rested up, and now he bounded about with other, having volunteered to help with the cleanup. He WAS a structural engineer after all, repairing damaged buildings? building roads? these were things he actually knew how to do.
And having a purpose felt GOOD.

Given what James had told them, Tala and the hound might find Starr's scent there, heading off towards the port, the directions she had headed when she left James on her own. Two other scents would mingle with hers where she was captured. After that was when the two keepers had vanished, though they might pick up other spots, leading to the ships and where the stolen ship had been.

The hound lead the way, following Starr's scent with confidence at first, then growing less sure at the point where they vanished. Tala crouched down and sniffed at the ground at that point, picking up keeper scent. Hmm.

They managed to follow the now-weakened scent trail to the spaceport, right up to where the ship had been. Tala concluded that Starr and the keepers must have left on a ship, so she went looking for a spaceport manager to ask about the ship that had last been parked there.

She'd inquire when it had last been seen, and whether it might be tracked or located, or if it had any identifying features that could be used to find it.

The manager saw them, looking up the docking station they were talking about then letting them know which one it was. "Looks like the uh, took the red one." There was a tracker, but it seemed to have been turned off or blocked currently, so he sent someone to find any info to have that went to Vestia for them
