Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter One

One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

Kay shook his head. [Not intentionally no, he picks things up but he doesn't seem to have the same kleptomaniac streak Matt has. Most of the time he picks up junk like pencils and bottlecaps and little bits of paper, while Matt will literally take anything that's not nailed down. If you're looking for odd socks, Web probably has them. If you're wondering what happened to your wallet, it'll be Matt.] He smiled fondly. Yeah his brothers were annoying, but he still loved them.

James laughed. "Poor Matt, nobody trusts him. He must be so sad!" He finished sweeping cookie crumbs and threw them out. "Does the floor meet your approval, o great medic A Team?"

Kay looked across the floor critically, then nodded. [You might be a rubbish medic, but you'll make a decent janitor yet James.] He smiled.

"I'll take that as a compliment then," James said dryly. He put the broom away. "You guys can have your lab back now!"

Kay looked pleased and nodded. [You should, nothing wrong with janitorial work. And you can't ever be as bad at it as Matt.] He shook his head [He seems to spend most of his time playing with the bots instead.]

James headed for the door.

"Wait!" Asher said, suddenly, remembering something he'd noticed earlier, "Where did you put the pens?"

"Top shelf," James said happily, "Be glad I didn't hide the stools too." He left, laughing.

Asher went to get a stool to retrieve the pens. "At least it wasn't me this time?" He asked Kay.

Kay rolled his eyes. [Grab the shredder will you.] He started collecting up the signs and labels.

Asher brought the shredder over for Kay. "Some of these are pretty funny," he pointed out, collecting a few labels as well.

Kay read them and smiled softly [That may be, but we can't let them thinking this is their territory can we? They might never leave.] He did take quite particular delight in shredding the visitors welcome sign.

"True." Asher fed a sign into the shredder. "What do we do if they try to take our territory from us? They were obviously testing the waters for a takeover today, they must be planning more." He said that with a straight face, barely.

Kay considered that, managing to retain a pretty serious expression. [Pelt them with pens.] He nodded decisively.

"Oh yes, that's a good plan." Asher eyed the freshly retrieved pens, satisfied by that idea. "They'll be terrified."

Kay smirked. [Terrified, yes. Well maybe not of you. ] He came over and took one of the pens with a smug look on his face. No pen hoarding for you.

"I could be terrifying if you let me have the pens," Asher suggested, smiling slightly as Kay took one. "I mean I know I failed as a bad cop, but I'm still able to be scary with some help."

Kay tapped the pen on his desk and looked thoughtful. [Perhaps, but I think I like you better when you're being nice. Most of the time anyway. ] He shrugged. [Merith's still banned though, no being nice to him.]

"Fine." Asher pretended to be sad. "Yes," he agreed, "Merith is banned until further notice. Which is definitely for the best." Merith had so gone too far last time. Admittedly they should have told him instead of trying to keep their charade up, but still. Not okay, Merith.

Kay nodded grimly and waved a hand dismissively, enough about him. [i'm certain they rearranged stuff.] It was nagging at him, something was out of place. Bah. He had to reorganise and reclaim this space.

"I think they did," Asher agreed. "I can probably figure out what exactly they messed up if I look for a bit." He knew exactly how this place was supposed to be organized, and this probably wasn't it. Investigation was required. He started poking through cabinets.

So did Kay, they WOULD get this place fixed grr grrr.

TIMESKIP - DAY SEVEN/MOVIE NIGHT

James located a lovely unused movie theater complex, which he set up with kids movies for the kids, and Fast and Furious movies for the adults. He found popcorn that actually popped this time! Proof their universe was better than the mirror one.

He got Ethan to help him out. The guy rolled his eyes and snorted a lot, but he was a hard worker. Together they'd work on getting the projector running. It was being annoyingly finicky.

Thalia didn't want to watch movies, Matt decided she was probably allergic to social gatherings. He couldn't be bothered forcing the issue anyway, last time he'd forced Thalia to go see a show against her will she'd sulked even harder. Sooo not worth it. She claimed she had a dress fitting anyway.

So he kissed her on the forehead and told her to have fun. He apparently wasn't allowed to know anything about this dress, at all. The secrecy baffled him.

He headed off to go help set up for movie night.

"Yo Matt, here to join the fun?" James smiled up at Matt, obviously pleased to see him. "We're trying to get the projector working, but neither of us is much good with projectors!"

"I'm not an electrician," Ethan said. "I shouldn't have to do this." He was busily looking over the machine as he spoke though.

Matt shrugged. "Projectors? Not a clue man. " He came over to look anyway. "So who else you invited?" He watched Ethan work, yeah he wasn't going near wires and stuff.

James shrugged. "Just the people in the med bay who heard the idea yesterday, I didn't want it to devolve into another political catfight. And Ethan. And people can bring people of course."

"Lucky me," Ethan muttered, smacking the projector.

Matt chuckled. "So no Luka?" He nodded. "Probably wise. She's a nice kid but yeah... gotta love the brainwashing huh?" He sighed.

He laughed. "Now smacking it to get it working? THAT is the sort of engineering I understand!"
