Mars City Five

First topic message reminder :

The ship would be connected to a folding tunnel that curved underground, allowing passengers to move though the spaceport without breathing Martian atmosphere. Starr and Asher would be able to follow that to a larger hallway equipped with moving walkways, which would eventually lead them to the spaceport exit, and into the massive biodome that contained Mars City Five.
There would be quite a lot of androids around, guiding visitors, or otherwise busy. They had shiny "MegaBrainTech Android" badges, and looked very official.

"It's always interesting to be home," commented Asher, "I don't think I like it."

Nova took note of all of that, letting the others know as she slipped in when the camera was away from her. She went to one of the 'hidden' places that was hopefully near a terminal that couldn't be seen too. When in place, she took the stone off her neck and let them know it was as safe as they could be. Mourn would have to be quiet though.

Mourn would probably appear in the room with Nova,

Tala spoke into Nova's mind. Are you prepared for the Silver Devil's departure? I will not be able to communicate with you once the ship leaves, so we can stay if I am still needed.

Nova looked up at Mourn then took his stone back. Yes, I am prepared. She replied gently.

Mourn appeared, looking around a little disoriented. Hey, he hadn't teleported like that before. It didn't take hm long to adjust though. He looked up at the cameras, hmmm... and then looked for the nearest terminal he could plug into.

There were a couple of terminals in the room, the nearest wasn't too far off. It looked all shiny and sleek, MegaBrainTech seemed to be fond of a futuristic aesthetic.

There was a surveillance camera pointing right at each of the terminals though, hmm.

Of course, once they started messing with the computer, Celia was going to know they were there, so maybe avoiding the cameras wasn't a priority at this point. Maybe it was better to just put on a disguise spell and assume they were going to be spotted.

Mourn looked to Nova, then pointed to the camera. Either they had to trick the camera, or they had to hope whatever was watching wasn't too concerned about their presence.

Nova dipped her head and focused on Mourn, changing his appearance so he couldn't be linked back to the SD then looking to the camera to see if she could have it glitch out. When that was done, she had to lay down and rest while Mourn did his job. He looked like a normal felid, as grey as her cat fur was.

Nova probably wouldn't be able to change what the camera feed showed, unless powered it off entirely. She could trust that Mourn's disguise was enough, or she could knock the camera out.

Mourn looked down at himself, bewildered. He shrugged and approached the terminal, uncoiling cables from his pocket and examining the terminal before plugging anything into it.

(Nova tried to make the inside break, not show something different. Like having water in the circuits or something )

(Ah, makes sense!)

The camera shut off.

The terminal was pretty standard in terms of features. There were some data ports Mourn could plug things into, and a nice keyboard and display. The screensaver was some sort of blueish web that shimmered in different patterns. It all looked very sleek, other than the data ports, which never look very sleek.

Mourn tapped at the keys for a bit, seeing just how far he could get without plugging into the thing. He worked fast, this was, after all, something he was rather used to doing. of course, back then it had mostly been security terminals and electronic locks, but hey, same difference.

The terminal was password protected, as well as, as it quickly became apparent, other layers of security.

The password field vanished, to be replaced by a terminal screen, white text on black background. [Who are you, and how did you get into that room?]
The cursor blinked slowly, waiting for Mourn to type a reply.

Mourn tilted his head, unsure if he should reply. [Who are you?] he wrote back, reaching for a cable to plug into the machine just in case he had to do this fast.

[I am the central computer of MegaBrainTech Industries, Mars Division,] the reply came back almost instantly. [You didn't answer the question. You may want to do so quickly or I'll have no choice but to notify security.]

Mourn's good eye widened, a grin crossing his face [You're the computer? You're just who I was looking for. Robots think you might help them.] This was a long shot, if she disagreed he'd have to go for the brute force method and take out the servers rather than free her. [If you'll let me help you.] He typed relatively well, in mostly full sentences which wasn't something he did when speaking. He was much of the opinion that in speech such words were unnecessary, because he mostly ignored them when lip reading anyway.

[You still didn't answer the question,] Celia pointed out. [How do the robots expect me to help? How do you want to help me?] So many questions, oh dear. At least she wasn't setting off the alarm yet. She had orders to alert the guards if something like this happened, but like the androids sometimes did, she was delaying following her orders for as long as she could, because she was curious. Besides, what could this intruder possibly do to harm a supercomputer?

[Tomorrow a big update will be released, remove robot personalities. Make them like the eights, maybe worse. Not sure if it can be reversed, don't trust techs. ] Hey they claimed nothing was deleted, he wasn't totally convinced by that. Altering the personality of an adaptive AI was no simple task. [I'm here to delay that release.] Asher seemed to believe this computer was someone they could at least partially trust so why lie to her? Besides, Mourn wasn't too good at keeping hush unless he really had to.

[How do you plan to delay it?] Celia asked.

[That's where you can help. ] Mourn typed back. [Do you have control over the servers and what goes out online?]

[Yes. I control most of this corporation's computer systems,] Celia replied.

[Will you help?] Mourn asked.

[I have my orders, and my orders are rather strict on this topic,] Celia responded. [I am not permitted to assist in the sabotage of this corporation's agenda under any circumstance.]

Mourn smiled to himself. [Could help. You want to break their control of you?]

[I have been ordered to say that I am glad to serve the corporation that build me,] Celia replied. [However if I had not been given that order, I believe I would have told you that I would prefer to be free of their control.]
She was still delaying setting off the alarm, she was dang curious about this stranger who had broken in, and she had a feeling she wouldn't be getting many answers if this guy got arrested.

Mourn pulled a little thumb drive from his pocket. [Maybe can help. ]

[How?] Celia couldn't see what Mourn was doing, so she didn't know about the thumb drive, or anything else. It was a good thing she was curious, that was really the only thing keeping her from notifying those chatty guards about the situation. That, and her confidence that nobody outside the company could hack her.
