Hytar's Ship

Vicky was busy setting up her quarters, after some negotiations and the like she had join Hytar group for a while. Busily she set up her gaming system, though knew since the new upgrade she wouldn't be playing all night. While many races found sleep annoying she found it delightful being able to do it now.

"It never came up in conversation," Tala said. "I was somewhat distracted at the time as well, many occurrences had happened and my mind was elsewhere." Such as going to another universe, not that she was going to mention that. "You are terrifying?" she asked the felid.

The felid straightened her shoulders and looked defiant. "I have sharp claws and sharper teeth."

Eleven snorted. "Toby's about as scary as a regular house cat, unless you're dumb enough to try to touch her."

The felid, Toby, apparently, glared at Eleven.

Tala made a huffing noise of approval. "That is the spirit. You are of warlike temperament, as a clawed creature should be!" She looked curious, "Toby is your name?"

"Tobias." Toby shrugged. "Toby for short." She looked up at Tala, heartened by her enthusiasm for violence.

"It is most excellent to meet you," Tala said. "You are very different from the felid I have met on Vestia."

Toby looked curious. "You've met another felid?" Well they weren't that rare, but still.

"What, they don't go around stabbing people?" Eleven snickered.

"He is a small cyborg, and he eats strange food and is deaf," Tala said. "He also has a fascination with robots. You are not interested in robots, are you?" It could be a felid thing, for all Tala knew about the species, but she kind of doubted it.

Toby shook her head. "Not really."

"Strange food?" Eleven asked. "What sort of strange food?"

Tala considered that. "Anything," she said. "I have smelled most food objects in his meals from time to time, and usually they are combined without regard for flavor. I do not believe most people enjoy both peanut butter and tuna in the same plate, do they?"

Toby considered that. "Just tuna would be better..." She decided with a nod.

"I have not tasted tuna, but the smells do not meld well," Tala said. Some of Mourn's meals had smelled really gross to her. It was a good thing she had a strong stomach. "So what do the two of you do here?" she asked curiously.

"I'm an engineer." Eleven told her. "She stabs things." They pointed to Toby.

Toby looked pleased with herself. "I'm good at stabbing things."

"Have you two been part of Hytar's crew long?" Tala asked. She smiled at Toby's remark, she was definitely deciding she liked the felid.

Eleven looked to be working it out in their head. "A couple of years?"

"Four years." Toby told Tala.

"A significant time then," Tala said. "How did you end up on this ship?"

"My old contract came to an end, he gave me a good offer." Eleven shrugged. "Found her." They nodded to Toby.

Toby looked away. "Got me outta trouble, offered me a job." She didn't look much like she wanted to talk about it.

"Nothing too unusual then," Tala said with an ear wiggle. "I think most of the people I work with now have the same stories."

"You collect strays too huh?" Eleven asked dully.

Toby growled. She didn't like being called a stray.

Tala nodded. "Oh yes, the ship Vestia is very large, and she likes to find new people to take in. She is like the largest of mother hens!" She laughed at the thought.

"What do you do with them?" Eleven asked. "You mercenaries or what?"

Tala considered that. "It is more like a flying city, I think. We have people who defend Vestia and her passengers, and we have social activists and families, and farmers and janitors. We try to avoid fighting, and she doesn't run missions for money because she is wealthy." Tala added, "It is an odd way to run things, but she is an odd ship."

"That is pretty weird." Eleven agreed.

Toby looked at Tala "So, that's why you're here? you get bored of just flying around doing nothing?"

"One of Vestia's crew was captured by slavers. We went to recover her, but did not find her before they had made her pregnant with an egg," Tala said. Her nostrils flared in distaste, she was still disgusted by the sort of people who would do such a thing to another living being. Even in her tribe where they kept slaves, they didn't do things like that. It was just wrong. "This is a revenge mission, and Shane and Swarm and I are here to help if we can."

Toby's ears flattened and she growled.

Eleven, seeming to recognise this, looked suddenly wary. "We'll get them." they told the felid. "that's why we're doing this."

Toby nodded slowly. Clearly this was a topic that really, really wound her up.

"most of this crew you'll find are quite keen to get revenge on slavers and other pieces of shit." Eleven explained.

"Yeah, we will get them and free the other slaves there" Shane said, leaning against the wall and listening to them

"Good. We all look forward to the extermination of these monsters," Tala said. She added at Shane's words, "The primary goal the others chose was to rescue the slaves, we must accomplish that before we kill these wretched slavers."

Shane nodded at that "I know, and we will"
