Upon Vestia: Chapter Nineteen

"Maybe you like knowing there's someone waiting to help you," Ethan suggested. "Or maybe you like having people worry so you have a reason to tell them you're fine." He leaned back, watching Hewitt with a small smirk of his own.

"Okay Luka, see ya!" Ellie waved to Luka, then looked to Moone, "Okay, let's find recruits, kid!"

The professor laughed merrily. "I have to say, this vacation is proving to be far more interesting than I anticipated. " He rested in his chair, closing his eyes contentedly.

Luka nodded and headed back to her room for entertainment, if she was going to spend the night locked in the cockpit of the SD, she needed literature and snacks.

"Okay Luka, see ya!"  Ellie waved to Luka, then looked to Moone, "Okay, let's find recruits, kid!"

Monne smiled and would walk with Ellie "Who is here to ask?"

Ethan snorted. "Hope you weren't too attached to having a peaceful vacation."

"I have no idea. People like to hang out in the library and cafe, maybe we can find em there," said Ellie.

"Maybe we can have the 'party' at the cafe?" Moone asked as she walked beside Ellie

"Good idea," Ellie said, grinning at Moone. "You think Sawna will let us bring in booze?"

Moone shrugged at that and looked to Ellie "I don't know, probably not. Especially if you are going to their party tonight."

"I'm not planning to get crazy drunk, just, you know, sorta drunk..." Ellie snickered.

James came around the corner at that point and waved. "Hey guys, what's up?"

"Partying!" Ellie said, "Here on Vestia. During the day. So, like, we can have fun and not get eaten if we don't want to."

James blinked. "Okay then."

Moone shook her head at Ellie's logic and looked to James "She's worried because of the infected that will apparently be roaming around out there tonight at the big party."

Ellie nodded. "And Shane made me some sweet silver jewelry out of some silver goblets, but I still think I need a beer to help psych me for this."

"Fair enough," James said. "You sure you're partying and not, you know, getting an early start on your drinking?"

"Sure!" said Ellie. "If you and Moone are there, she can eat coffee cake and you can, uh, draw on a napkin. NOT a booze party." She paused, "I'd invite Matt but he's not here, darn it. Moone, who can we invite?"

Hewitt laughed. "Peace and quiet never sat too well with me." He shrugged. "I could have done without the nearly dying part, that was just unpleasant but otherwise, well, I have a lot to moan about now don't I?" He smiled broadly. "It's been TERRIBLE." He looked delighted.

"You're a strange man, Professor," Ethan told him. "I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to enjoy complaining. Then again, I guess it goes well with my theory that you like being fussed over."

Hewitt cackled. "I'm gonna give the cruise company hell."

Moone shrugged "Shane'll come when he gets back, Starr might, um, who else is here now?"

"I hope I get to see that. It sounds entertaining," Ethan told Hewitt. He smirked at the idea of the tiny old plant guy raging at young, concerned looking plant guys who in his mind, looked a lot like Amity. The idea amused him immensely.

"Starr's napping, we should probably let her do that, since she'll be queen-ing at the festival," Ellie said. "Uh, Tala might be around. Kay's probably off avoiding everyone as usual. Asher's probably off being boring. The plant guy might be somewhere, not sure where everyone else has run off to."

"Asher isn't boring!" James protested.

"He always works. He's boring," Ellie said.

James opened his mouth to protest, then closed it and nodded. "Fair enough."

"I'll sue them, and use the money to fund another cruise." Hewitt declared, cackling merrily at the idea.

"Asher is likely with Kay, because of the moon thing tonight" Moone said then shrugged and looked up at the cameras "Vestia is anyone else here besides Kay and Starr that you can ask to meet for a party in the cafe?"

Ethan snorted. "I hope I can find such satisfying hobbies when I'm your age." Not that he'd ever be Hewitt's age, but it was funny to joke about anyway.

Vestia would tell Ellie and Moone and James who was on the ship, and if any of them looked willing to go to a cafe party. A lot of people seemed kinda too down in the dumps to party, in her opinion. Poor, poor crew.

Rigel would head for the cafe, since he had nothing better to do at the moment

Amity was charging in one of the rec rooms where Mourn had placed his charging dock, he'd activate if anyone came in.

Armin was finishing up some last minute sewing in his workshop near Sawna's cafe.

Hewitt nodded. "I'm sure you will, but first you have to get out of this library."

Ellie lead the way to go look for Amity and Armin, going to get the drone first because he was closer by. "Yo James, you're from the Silver Devil, go get Tala for us," she said.

James huffed at Ellie's tone and flounced off to get Tala.

"I still have so much to do here, that might take a while," Ethan said. "I haven't even scratched the surface of Terran history yet, much less any other topic at all."

"History buff huh?" Hewitt nodded. "trying to get your bearings about this universe or just interested in general?"

The little drone whirred to life as soon as Ellie walked into the room, the hologram flickering into existence as the drone rose to its standard height.
Amity smiled. "Good afternoon Ellie." His systems rapidly told him the date, the time and instantly started to activate all the behavioral preferences he'd logged for the terran. "How may I assist you today?"

Moone came in and looked around curiously then smiling at Amity "Hi Amity"

"Both," Ethan smiled oddly, "It's surprisingly easy to make the wrong historical references if you know a different universe's history, but history is also interesting stuff. Besides, if you're reading a thick textbook and scowling, people will leave you alone by default, which is convenient."

"We're having a party!" Ellie told Amity. "You're invited to party with us because you're cute. Come on!"

Hewitt laughed. "An excellent point, a good method to get a little solitude." Not that it worked with him of course, hah.

"Good afternoon Moone." Amity replied cheerfully.
He nodded to Ellie. "Very well." He had no idea what she meant by cute, but obediently followed her. "I didn't think the party was till this evening?" He asked. "is my internal clock out of synch?"

"Have to find a way to avoid the social butterflies of the world," Ethan said. "What's your technique of choice?"

"Oh no, the festival isn't until this evening. We just wanted to party here on the ship where the murder wolves aren't," Ellie told Amity cheerfully.

Hewitt smirked at Ethan. "You really need to ask?"
