Matthew's Ship

Ellie kicked things and yelled. She didn't like being grabbed by strangers, especially when they were most likely aliens.

Lai, well lai panicked. She called medical bay and when Matthew woke he would be in the med bay with fresh banage and drugs on stand by if he tried to get up. Marcus was causally sitting down reading a book, he had just finally gotten the mother hen to go away and was enjoying the peace.

Matthew wouldn't wake up for several more hours, and when he did, he groaned, sitting up slightly in the bed and putting a hand to his head as if to hold it. "Arcturus?" For that was Ironscale's first name, and it showed how close the two were, "Where's the papers...?" He blinked and realized her was not in his study. "What happened?"

"Lai slapped you and you passed out." Marcus commented causally turning a book page. " She then panicked and called me. I finally just kicked her out ten minutes ago. Your wife is starting to ask questions on why your working more." He sighed, "you can't keep it hidden forever."

"Have to..." Matthew insisted tiredly, laying back down and closing his eyes, "I don't need her fearing for the lives of her and the children... I'd rather her believe I'm just overworking myself... I don't know how much I can continue like this... Even you're in danger Marcus, don't you get it? Here's out for all of our skins..."

Marcus sighed, " she stsrting to worry about your health. And in the emotional state she in I suspect things can't really get worse." He looked at him with a sour look, "I am going to sound snippy but that why I ensured my family was safe just in case this did happen. This whole damn ship is trap, and at the moment holds your weakness."

"Your family is safe, yeah, but you?" Matthew laughed bitterly, "I'll have to fight for you." He fell silent for several seconds, before finally responding slowly, "What do you mean, my weakness?"

"All of them are grown matthew, they know the risk I take for them." Marcus shook his head as matthew acted either very dumb or was truly clueless. "lai and the twins. All the crew knows it Matthew, it as plain as day." He retorted, "And sooner or later you know who will use them against you as long as they are a easy grab."

Matthew's face turned a paler blue, almost white even, which was surreal against his cobalt blue skin, and yet his kin were considerably more expressive than most. "What do you suppose I should do...?"

This was a new sound that eminated from his lips. This was fear. He sighed, his crimson gaze still uncertain as he stared at the floor, sitting up and swinging his legs over the side of his bed. "I'm an enemy on either side now. Too much history to seek help from too many empires..."

"I...may know someone." Marcus said carefully. "Though, it'll mean we'll have to take a detour." He said watching Matthew as he got up, getting ready to grab the captain if need be.

"Who?" Matthew Alistair tried standing up, only to sway and fall back onto the bed, holding his head and stifling a groan despite the growing migraine.

"Nila West." Marcus said and rolled his eyes. "Don't make me sedate your ass. Anyway if my caculations are correct you are gonna need all the sleep you can get right now. Isn't your time of the year coming?" He smirked with bemusement.

The medic was awarded with a hard and unsavory glare as the captain brushed off the question mildly. "Who is this and how do you know of them?" He demanded, his frown solidifying at the good natured threat on sedatives. Following Marcus' suggestion, he leaned back in bed and looked at him expectantly, waiting for an answer.

"How do you think I have kept my family safe as long as I have?" He retorted, leaning back in the seat. "And no, while my family live on one of her colonies I never given her information. I am no mole. Also good boy, so have you told Lai or are you gonna pull a her when her cycle hit?" Marcus was in a oddly salty mood, then again he hasn't seen his own wife in nearly six months. "The free colonists took us in when no one was willing to. Trust me when I say she doesn't exactly enjoys the fact I work for you but enjoy the irony that part of my lay goes towards helping her keep the colonies up. Much to your boss annoyance, luckily he never knew where my family was when he was in power."

Matthew still evaded the question on the subject of his species' masculine heat cycle. He frowned a bit more, "Well. I'll consider this. How do I contact her for negotiations, then?"

"I have a comm you can use. And matthew hiding that will not make it go away." He snickered, amused at his captain attempt to avoid saying a thing, "Sounds like she going to be in for a surprise then. Already got a babysitter picked out for the kids?"

"Contact her. Tell her I wish to make an appointment. And... Arcturus has the children handled." Matthew looked around. "Have someone bring down the paperwork on my desk, please."

"Nope, you are under twelve hour rest." Marcus ordered, "You need sleep, period mr. And don't even try to get around me on that, we both know the crew fears me just equally as you when push comes to shove." He scowled.

Matthew stared down his subordinate, "While I understand your concerns, Doctor Marcus, I'm behind as it is."

He shot it straight back at him, "And as you once told me you'll trust my medical advice and that I know best when it comes to medical." His marking slightly flushed a deeper green, "I will summon the wife." He threatened.

"This is mutiny!" Matthew gave an exasperated groan and conceded, laying back down. "Then so be it with you, Devil."

Marcus grinned, quoting a old human meme. " I don't know what happened last night but I woke up with satan and he refuses to look at me in the eye." He returned back to his book, "oh, if you want food Lai did say she is making you soup."

"Alright, alright." Matthew said, "Any more shit talking and I might just dock your pay."

Matthew shrugged, absently pulling out a small comms device from his pocket that was ship regs. He typed something and went back this book, "It early morning there so it may be a few hours before she replies."
