Matthew's Ship

Ellie kicked things and yelled. She didn't like being grabbed by strangers, especially when they were most likely aliens.

The Mage sighed with pity and walked over to Lai, she spoke to her gently explaining her reason being there. Once finish she held out the hand scanner as lai looked at Matthew with question and confusion.

Matthew just nodded in reassurance, looking at the two women expectantly. Claudia had paused to watch what was ging on, the stew sat forgotten.

Lai gingerly plassed her hand on it, her hackles raising in surprise at the confirming beep and the words appear.

"Well, isnt this against the odds.." The mage muttered.

Matthew also blinked in slight surprise, watching on in silence.

"What?" Claudia interrupted in a bubbly manner, "What's goin' on here?"

"Well, by some very slim chance both the captain and his wife are gifted in techno magics." The mage remarked, "Vessels can have thw ability, but a drakan isn't heard of, add that you two are married..." Her eyes flashed to lai stomach briefly before helding this bemuse look while turning to look at matthew with this look of more pity.

Matthew cocked an eyebrow. "Then it would appear the legends of my kind once being magical beings are true. Why the expression?"

She held this bemuse look before nodding at lai and walking to him, "How, much do you know of avian biology for breeding?" The mage asked in this innocent tone.

"Haven't had the time to look into it." Matthew replied, now growing concerned and added that to his ever present to-do list.

She smirked, "I highly recommend you, before the hand cuffs come out that is." The mage added sweetly.

Matthew looked slightly alarmed, nodding.

"Anyway, now the question. Will you be willing to meet the council? You can even take your fancy dancy new ship if you want." She snorted

"I'm willing to do that." Matthew nodded, then turning to look at Lai, "You?"

Lai look at him and shrugged, gesturing it was his choice before going back to baking.

"Then I guess we will." Matthew said, returning his attention to Performer.

She nodded, "well then, to make both our lives easier may I dock my ship to yours? I can tranfer the location of the council from my ship also."

"That sounds alright with me." Matthew replied, nodding once more. He seemed to be doing a lot of nodding today.

She sighed and shook her head, letting Matthew lead her out she would head off and return in about fifteen minutes with her ship. It was small and smoothly shape she did prewarn not have any one touch it unless he wanted a crispy ship mate.

Many, many months later.....

Lai was softly clucking as she worked in the kitchen. The twins gleefully following her as she worked on Matthew lunch, it been a good five months since her heat cyle and the twins were the produce of that. Marcus himself prayed that Lai would go onto birth control afterwards, since the birthing was probably more traumatic for him then her.

She walked around getting ready to drop them off with Ironscale, who turned into a lovely babysitter when she wanted to do things without them tailing her. Only a handful of people were able to come near her brood safetly, all others were chased off in numerous manners.

Ironscale dozed softly as his thick and heavy tail gently picked up the wooden building block and setting it neatly in the box on the bottom shelf. Matthew had insisted on building blocks, claiming that basic architectural knowledge started at children's toys and were a massive head start in the major. Already he had aspirations for his children to be great things, such as engineers and architects. He also insisted on a colorful and well cushioned playroom, ensuring anything that was heavy and in danger of falling down was either bolted to the walls tightly or set on the floor where they could not topple over. It charmed he snake, to see the hardened criminal spoiling young children. It saddened him greatly too, because he could sense another reason behind the pampering; giving these children a childhood Matthew would never posses.

Ironscale shuddered. He remembered all too well the previous owner of the ship, and the torture Matthew went through during his conditioning... Poor kid, the anamcara mused as he made sure everything was in perfect order.

Meanwhile Matthew was in his study, taking calls and signing off and canceling contracts, looking dead tired with the bandages from the thrown wine bottle around his head. By the reddish tint, it had started to bleed again without his knowing, or just carelessness...

Lai would fuss for a few minutes to ensure they were settled in with their scaley babysitter before heading to carry her mate lunch to hum. Softly she knocked before entering with the basket of food. Softly her lips turned into a pout as she saw the bleeding, "your bleeding again.." She clucked in a motherly tone.

Ironscale took them willingly, trying to play off the cool, stern babysitter at first as Matthew didn't look up from the notes on the panderebook that glowed in his hand, the laser made tablet spitting out many emails. " 'Sfine..." he muttered to her repeatedly, swaying in his seat slightly, " 'Sfine..."

She sighed and softly pulled his hand off of it, "Don't you make me drag you to the medical bay." She said sternly, "you barely been eating on top of this..."

"No time, no time..." he muttered again, shaking his head and weakly shooing her, "Payment's due... no income... need to sign more contracts... set up more business..."

Her hair rose in slight frustation *POP* she slapped him, trying to get him out of the trance...

Normally a slap would wake someone, but frankly ninety six hours with no sleep does some damage, with Lai's blow jerking his head to the side as he awkwardly collapsed with his head landing heavily on the floor. The bandage center was now a heavy red and the sticky pool began spreading out quickly, but the man himself slept quite soundly...

Lai, well lai panicked. She called medical bay and when Matthew woke he would be in the med bay with fresh banage and drugs on stand by if he tried to get up. Marcus was causally sitting down reading a book, he had just finally gotten the mother hen to go away and was enjoying the peace.

Matthew wouldn't wake up for several more hours, and when he did, he groaned, sitting up slightly in the bed and putting a hand to his head as if to hold it. "Arcturus?" For that was Ironscale's first name, and it showed how close the two were, "Where's the papers...?" He blinked and realized her was not in his study. "What happened?"
