One week. Asher has to be mean, Kay has to be nice. Whoever gives up first has to write a story for the winner. Should be... interesting.

"And then you'll have epic dance offs. Think we can convince Luka?" Matt liked this idea, it amused him. "She and Esk can engage in a army vs airforce dance off to end all dance offs." He snickered.

James laughed. "Maybe all the disagreements on this ship should be solved by dancing," he said. "Can't be angry when you're too tired to stand."

"Luka would benefit from dancing," Tala agreed.

Matt snickered. "I'm totally asking her when I see her next. And if we get Esk drunk enough, maybe we can convince him too. I wanna see my baby brother dance! " He grinned at Tala. "All dance offs, all the time." He nodded. "Yes James! from now on, no arguments, just dance offs! Might relieve some of the stupid tension right?"

Starr chuckled as she returned to her more familiar form and looked around at her friends. This was good, to have them having fun together.

"What's the limitation on your shape changing?" Matt asked Starr curiously. "like.. you guys can become anything and anyone?"

Star dipped her head in a nod "We must know the people and culture to take the form, but I have not found any limitations on size or shape." She replied

"Can you become a space whale?" James asked. "Or a horse?"

Tala gave James a scornful look at the second idea.

Starr chuckled and nodded "So long as I remain female, yes. I have noticed that our eye color remains the same too" She said in reply

"That's really cool, but... kinda freaky. Like.. you can pretend to be other people and stuff. But oh man, Space whales! Could... you become something like a bioship? they're organic right?"

Ellie burst into giggles at the idea of Starr being a ship. "That'd be super awkward," she said.

Matt laughed. "Well it's already pretty wierd when you think about it. Vestia's awesome and all but... you know, living and working inside someone is weiiiird."

Starr frowned and looked to the walls, thinking about that before shaking her head "I do not think I could become a bioship, they are both organic and inorganic and so far as I know, I can only become an organic creature." She had never tried before either

"It's only weird when you put it that way," Vestia pointed out.

Ellie and James both started snickering.

"We're fully organic under all the brain computer interfaces and FTL drives," Vestia told Starr.

Starr shrugged a little at that then smiled "Maybe I can look for information on shifting when we reach the guild, or try there if we can."

Matt reached out and patted Vestia's wall. "You're awesome Vestia, and I wouldn't wanna live inside anyone else." He tried not to laugh at that, it sounded weird. "ooo yeah, maybe we can all learn something new there." He looked sober for a moment, thinking about Merith and Vanessa. He shook his head to dispel the thought. "so... now what? Another dance?"

Starr shrugged and looked to the others again.

Shane nodded "Yeah, let's see what else is here to lean"

Matt went to look over the list of dances. Hmmm...
"man there's some random stuff here. Ballet lessons?" He looked at the others and burst into laughter. "maybe not. Uh... freestyle funk? what even?"

"What?...Well, let's see what that is about, if we don't like it then we can just turn it off, right?" Shane said with a chuckle

"I dunno man, there's like.. no description. " Matt looked to Shane. "I mean you want me to select it i'll select it. Wanna put it to a vote?"

"Just do it. What's the worst that can happen?" James said. "At least it's not jousting."

Starr laughed and nodded. "Sure, pick it."

Rigel and Dawn shrugged

Matt shrugged and selected it. The room changed to some sort of stage with silver lights and mirrors shimmering on the walls.

"this is a dancing program?" He looked at James. "Jousting? the thing with the horses and the huge wooden poles?"

A guy with a seriously epic fro wearing some garish disco outfit came over. "So, you wanna learn how to move?" He was extremely enthusiastic.

Matt stared at him. "Uh... you mean dance?"

"Of course I mean dance!" the guy laughed. "I'm here to teach you to pop and lock and get funky!"

Matt looked back at the others. "Is he still speaking common because... there's words.. but they make no sense."

"Yeah, jousting with horses, where you ride at other people and try to knock them off their horses." James held up his scarred hand for the others to see, "Good clean family fun." He looked impressed, "Wow, this is so retro! Yeah, that's Common, just super old school. Awesome."

"You're gonna need to translate man, it's like... complete nonsense to me." Matt looked at James' hand. "Maaan, you're lucky you don't feel pain. That looks nasty."

"y'all ready to get funky!?" the dance instructor asked.

"Uh... yes?" Matt guessed.

"Yeah, he means dancing," James said, amused. "Possibly to disco music, which is weird music. I don't know this era that well."

Shane laughed and nodded. "Yeah, let's dance." He said and moved onto the dancefloor with the others.

"Right on my man." The dance instructor grinned at James. "first rule of freestyle funk is.. there are no rules man. "

"so... demonstration?" Matt asked.

"Alright, sit back, chill, and watch this." Music started to play, funk music... 70s funk music.
The guy started to dance, a lot of foot work and hip wriggling, jumping, clapping. He looked like he was having fun.
He even managed a few flips.

"now you try! Let the beat guide you and don't forget to move those hips!"

Matt laughed and joined Shane on the dance floor. Okay this he MIGHT be able to do. Flips and stuff, yeah, he could do that.
