Good Cop Bad Cop: Chapter Two

Ellie watched Shane suspiciously. Was he trying to teach her things again? Hmm.

Matt managed a flip but nearly lost his glasses "and this! this is why I don't wear glasses!" He laughed, straightening them up. "Campaign manager! We need to sort this out!" He grinned at James.

James laughed. "Heck yeah! Next stop, we get you goggles with straps, like the ones shock uses. Got any tape in your pockets? You could tape them on."

Shane grinned at Ellie, taking note of her suspicious look, but ignoring it

Ellie continued to dance with absolutely zero rhythm and boundless energy. "If you want someone who's perfect at dancing, date Tala," she told him, sticking out her tongue.

Tala snorted. "I do not believe such an arrangement would be satisfactory."

Shane laughed and shook his head "Perfect at dancing? I just want to dance with you."

Matt laughed. "Aww Tala, not into dragons?" He grinned at James. "Ooo goggles,sounds fancy." He shook his head "no tape i'm afraid. My pockets are full of beer, soda and chips!" He laughed again.

Tala swished her tail. "Males do not smell pleasant," she declared.

"No tape at all? Your pockets are useless!" James cried, looking at Matt in horror.

Ellie patted Shane on the arm. "Okay Cutie, if you say so."

Shane laughed at the talk between them before slowing to a stop and moving to the side. Whew, he hadn't danced this much in a while.

"I know!" Matt laughed to James. "I was all prepared for a party and movie night! Not arts and crafts!" He grinned at Tala. "Fair enough. Can't say i've ever noticed."

Ellie kept dancing for a while longer. She really was a very energetic person.

"Well that's just poor planning," James scolded Matt, smiling, "If I had infinity pockets, I'd be prepared for everything!"

Tala pawed one hoof. "If more people noticed, there would be many fewer people attracted to males!"

Shane tilted his head, still laughing a little. "But I like being attractive to some females." He joked

Matt grinned. "and that james, is why you're waaaay more prepared than I am." He looked to Tala. "Well I dunno, maybe some people think they smell nice? Kay's scared of girls you know, okay maybe not scared, but he really really gets freaked out when they flirt with him. It's absolutely hilarious. " He snickered. "Well I think it's hilarious. "

Tala wiggled her ears. "Even on my homeworld most females and many males are attracted to males. They are silly." Sagely she added, "At least Asher only smells of plastic and metal. Kay is fortunate."
"You are fortunate that Ellie cannot smell," Tala told Shane.

James laughed.

Shane laughed again, sitting and shaking his head.

Matt laughed too. "You're a funny lady Tala. " He grinned. "I like you."

James paused, "Wait, you didn't say Asher smelled like a car."

"He does not, he smells of plastic and metal," Tala said.

"Why?" James asked.

"Perhaps his skin is from a better batch of plastic than yours," Tala mused.

James huffed. "My plastic is just fine, thank you very much!"

Matt burst into laughter. "She's teasing you James." He patted the android's shoulder. "You totally don't smell like a car, and you make awesome generator noises so be happy!"

"You've said yourself, you can't smell. What if I do smell like a car?" James sniffed his arm ineffectively.

"He sounds like a generator?" Tala was interested. "I wish to hear!"

James snorted. "Be my guest."

Tala put her head to his chest and listened. "You are like a snowflake of individuality. Be proud, young one!"

That sent James into another fit of laughter.

Shane was trying to not laugh anymore, but Tala and James were funny together. This was entertaining.

Starr, Dawn and Rigel had also stopped dancing to watch this.

"I'm kinda impressed you didn't stab me," James told Tala.

"We all practice well. A doctor cannot be expected to cut off his horns to hear a patient, and we must all learn as the doctors do," Tala explained. "Stabbing is not conducive to health."

Matt snickered "it really isn't, trust me on this. Stabbing isn't good." He nodded sagely. "He sounds like a generator right? or... more specifically the humming of electricity. It's like... white noise. Gotta assume all of you guys sound that way... right? I don't think Asher will let me listen to his chest though. Might be a bit weird."

James laughed. "Yeah, Asher's not too crazy about people listening to his motor. But he totally sounds like me. Maybe even a bit louder, honestly, cause he's an older version. Nothing compared to those older series though. I met a Four once! You could really hear his motor, practically from across the room."

"Wow, series four?" Matt looked surprised. "I can see that being super distracting. Then again, where I grew up we had a wind turbine and those things are stupidly noisy. As are water wheels, which we also had. You kinda just.. tune it out after a while. " He frowned. "oh man, I hope I didn't make things all like.. awkward for him and Kay by mentioning it. oops?"

"Yeah, Fours weren't even sentient, we think. Totally early tech, they couldn't really smile or anything. They just obeyed, and their speech syntax was so weird. Man, it's really freaky to look into the eyes of someone just like yourself and there's... not really anything there." James smiled, "Yeah, you get used to noises. Gotta tune them out eventually or they eat your soul."
He laughed, "Eh, you might have embarrassed Asher a bit. He'll be fine I'm sure."
