James sighed and took his mouse, petting it tragically. "It'll be okay, Mouse, you're still beautiful to me."

Asher handed the die to whoever was next, looking pleased with his small pile of cheeses.

Moone had stayed fairly quiet during the game, moving as she needed and watching the others. She was trying to figure out why such a game was made in the first place.

"You're silly James." Luka told him with a smile.

Matt laughed over. "He's just being a good mouse daddy! it's okay little plastic mouse, you're safe now."

Luka rolled her eyes and moved her mouse.

"So do we just keep doing this until everyone's been caught or what?" she asked.

Kay looked at his cards dubiously.
[I have to ask, why is there bread in his groin?]  He held the tablet so Moone couldn't see.

Matt laughed. "Man, I hadn't noticed that... " He leaned over to get a closer look. "That's so messed up. He doesn't even have .... appropriate anatomy. What's wrong with this guy?" Matt too was aware there was a child in the room. Ahem.

[As I said, his gaping wounds are really the least of his problems.] Kay tilted his head. [I think it's supposed to be his stomach... it's just unfortunately placed]

"But why is it bread?"

Kay shrugged [None of this makes sense, maybe it makes sense to native speakers?]

"Try to remove it."

[I'm not sure i'm entirely comfortable sticking tweazers into a strange cartoon man's crotch.]

Matt laughed.

Kay smiled at him and tried to remove the piece.

"You guys just don't have enough respect for these poor mice," James said. "Of course, your mice aren't as beautiful as mine, so maybe you can't help it." He tucked the mouse in his pocket.

"You do know you can't keep the game pieces forever, right?" Asher asked him dryly.

"Yeah," James smiled sweetly, "Doesn't mean I can't try though."

Asher nodded. "I suppose you're free to try, just as long as you don't succeed." To Luka he said, "I guess we keep playing until Moone's defeated us? I'm not sure."

James read what Kay and Matt were discussing, and tried to suppress his laughter. "Yeah, that's... disturbing. Poor guy, wonder what happened to him."

"He might not be from any of the standard humanoid races. Maybe it's a trait of his species," Asher said. "Not all of us have the same anatomy, after all." He tried hard not to laugh.

Moone looked over to Asher, wondering what he was talking about now. That didn't sound like a good game though. hm... "Who has the rules and we can check if we continue or that's the end."

"you had them." Luka told Moone, laughing at James' ridiculousness.

[I'm going out on a limb and assuming the cause of death for this guy was all the foreign objects rammed inside him.]

Matt snickered. "I love how you try to apply logic and reasoning to a stupid game." He tried to remove the pencil in the arm and failed miserably.

Moone looked around and found the rule sheet, going to the end to read how to win, then she started giggling. "Oh, James is just the first loser, it's the last mouse 'uncaught' that is the winner."

"Well at least you're first at something James." Luka chuckled.

James looked sad, then brightened up. "Maybe it's like the slowness races little kids have. I won by. Not being the last on the board!" He laughed at himself, yeah, he was going to make a big show of losing. It was funny.

Asher grinned. "Well regardless of the rules, I got James." He picked up a piece of piece of cheese and eyed it, "Which probably means he'll want to avenge his death at some point, but still, ha."

James smirked.

Asher smiled at James, then looked over at the other game again. "Maybe he's not dead. He keeps making noises, he could be a really durable species."

[That or we just haven't found what's embedded in his corpse that's making such a racket.] Kay smirked.

Matt snickered. "you guys are so morbid."

"Or... That," Asher agreed. "Darn it Kay, let me believe this guy has a chance!" He laughed softly.

[Have you seen the state of him?] Kay smiled back.

"Yeah, even if he was still alive.. would he WANT to be?" Matt added with a snicker. "HAH!" he got the pencil out.

"Well one he isn't full of bizarre items, and has been properly treated for his injuries and any infections, I'm sure his quality of life will improve." Asher nodded sagely. "Don't believe what he says right now though, he's probably not aware of what he's saying at the moment. Completely delirious."

Kay laughed his weird silent laugh.

Matt glared at another card and tried to attach a rubber band to two pins.
"Are Terran kids super dexterous or what?"

[I think this game is just evil.]

"I think you're right. " Matt glanced over. "How's the elaborate trapping of mice going?"

Asher smiled at Kay's silent laugh. It always seemed to make him happy, although he felt sure it would be weird to say as much out loud.

"Well nobody else is dead yet, so I guess they're doing great," James grumbled. "This game is dumb, there's too much luck involved."

"He wouldn't be complaining if he was still in the game," Asher said.

"look at it this way James, your little mouse is safe now, free from the looming threat of a ridiculous trap." Luka told him as she herself landed on the trap square. Oops.

James kept his mouse hidden in his pocket. "Poor thing will have PTSD for the rest of its life." He watched Luka's mouse with concern. "Don't you dare roll a five, Asher, leave Luka's poor mouse alone!"

"But what if I can free it from this awful life that gave yours so much trauma?" Asher asked lightly.

"Excuses excuses. You're not allowed to roll a five!"

Moone was laughing openly at their banter and shaking her head "The mouse was just caught, not dead." She clarified and made her move.

"You hear that? You're not dead!" James told his mouse. Why yes, he was going to be a shameless idiot. Kids liked shameless idiots, right? And everyone needed a laugh after that stupid mirrorverse anyway. "You need to win for us," he told Moone, "Because your mouse looks the most like mine."

Moone laughed again, glad to be all together again. "Alright, I guess green is the most like blue out of these colors." She agreed and looked to who was next.

Asher rolled a three. Luka's mouse was safe... for now. He smiled and tossed the die lightly her way.

James breathed a sigh of relief. Asher had to lose next! That would serve him right.

"Wanna play something?" Ellie asked Starr, going over to her.

Ethan had hauled his stack of books to his room and read for a while, but he had gotten tired of that and now he was poking around Vestia to see what he could find in her seemingly endless maze of corridors.

Starr looked up at Ellie and smiled then nodded "Sure, pick a game" She said, willing to play whatever was there. She had been enjoying watching the other play together

Ellie grinned and dove into the closet, eventually pulling out a Go board. "We used to play this sometimes," she said, "you place your pieces on the places where the lines on the board cross each other, and try to surround the enemy pieces which makes them die." There was also supposedly something about claiming territory, but she had never understood it so she always just focused on capturing pieces. It made more sense. "I think black goes first, so you be black. You can put a piece anywhere."

Starr tilted her head at the game then chuckled "I think I played this before, a long time ago." She said as she took the black stones to play on one corner "The dragons like a game like this."
