Upon Vestia: Chapter Five

"All right... right, we'd better get him to the med... the med bay," Asher said. "And... and do some tests to see what's needed."

Kay was fairly delirious, looking up at everyone weakly. He wasn't hallucinating was he? this... really just happened? His eyes narrowed at Merith but he hadn't the strength or the mental clarity to say or do anything.
He tried to move, damn whatever they'd drugged him with, it kept him conscious but extremely woozy and spaced out.

Asher didn't have any first aid supplies with him except the handful of super basic ones in his pocket, none of which seemed likely to be useful. He took off his jacket to cushion Kay's head from the hardness of the floor, and sat down next to him. "You're safe now," he said gently, barely resisting the urge to hold Kay's hand, "Try to relax."

Shock nodded with a carefree grin on his face as he began to walk towards Kay and Asher with a bit of a skip in his step. "Can do, Ma'am!" He knelt down to help Asher with whatever he needed, using himself as a sort of assistant to the robotic nurse.

Merith looked away when Kay gave him a look. He knew that he wouldn't be welcomed. He knew there would be distrust and passive aggression. What he hadn't known is how aweful it would feel. It felt as if his chest was collapsing on itself, as if he was suffocating under the weight of their wary stares. Already he wanted it to end. Already he was having second doubts about revealing himself. It was only three people of many... Should he not have revealed himself at all? Should he leave again?

At least his arcana didn't give away his emotions anymore. That was something well off. He looked at Starr wearily, the questioning gaze in his eyes as he obviously pondered whether or not he should be staying at all. It's obvious I'm not wanted here, his eyes asked for him, Why am I staying?

Starr stood up and looked at Merith, tilting her head curiously at him. You want atonement, you want forgiveness. That is why you stay. you are different from before, not outwardly but inside. She closed her eyes, thinking of her own sins and mistakes through the years Who am I to judge you? I have made too many mistakes of my own, killed too many... Her mind's voice would trail off before she passed out once more.

Merith blinked as her voice entered his thoughts, and this time he didn't shut her out. He was silent the entire time. For some reason Starr's words seemed to heal his sorrows a bit but even then, she couldn't have committed the same such atrocity as he. She still had every right to judge him, he thought, as he saw her eyes roll backwards and almost immediately bound forward to scoop her up before her body hit the ground, holding the sleeping dragon in his hands.

Kay stared at him and tried to nod. Well this was just typical wasn't it? Yet again he was incapacitated and having to rely on Asher to look after him. Eugh.
He moved so someone could please undo his restraints thanks, then at least he could move. Not that he had much strength to.

Asher moved aside, nodding at Shock to free Kay from his handcuffs. He didn't like Shock, but Shock seemed like he might actually be able to help with this.

Shock's body armor suddenly shifted when he knelt down to look at the two. From it he produced a small little tool, like a tiny blow torch, and carefully went to work on the restraints as Asher seemed more able to help him with the drugs in his system. When it was done, the tool returned itself to the suit, returning to normal.

Kay looked relieved to be free and dragged himself into a sitting position, rubbing at his wrists and shooting Shock a thankful, if not slightly wary look. Had those Terrans really had to cuff him so hard? He swayed a little, and signed one word <What?> he meant what had they done to him, but he couldn't really convey much in this state.

"Thank you," Asher said to Shock, still a bit reluctantly. To Kay he said, "All I know is that they seem to have drugged you pretty badly, and wanted to put us 'on trial' for being abominations. I was, unfortunately, unconscious for most of this, so I don't know more."

"Oh gosh, look at the shopping bags in the snow!" Ellie yelped to Shane. "Whose are they?"

Shane frowned and looked around before going over to the bags to see what was inside. He had a bad feeling about this as he looked to the footprints even then being covered over "Ellie...I think we should get back to the ship" He said quietly

Kay nodded slowly and indicated they should help him get up. They should get out of here... yes, getting out of here seemed a good idea... no more explosions or flying chickens or... yelling crazy people. Maybe he could just go to sleep and wake up and everything would make sense again.
He stared at Asher guiltily, he hadn't been able to do enough to help either of them get away.

Matt groaned as he came around from the tranquilizers, he felt pretty groggy and crappy. "Okay.. jus.. gonna call it now... next time we land somewhere, let's NOT pick the planet of bigots yeah?"

Ellie scanned the bags' ID code with her omnicom. "They belong to Vestia! Oooh crap." She peered in the bags. "Painkillers, painkillers, more painkillers. Guess we'd better take these, then."

Asher helped Kay up carefully, letting him hang onto his arm for balance. "It's not your fault," he said, noticing Kay's guilty expression. "Fighting off organized hate groups isn't one of our specialties."

Heny looked up from her seat, she had no choice but to stay sitting in the med bay much to her horror, "Matt?" She asked standing up, but a little too close to Thaila bed as he jolted awake fist swinging...

Shane nodded and glanced around again "Yeah, let's go" He said, taking the bags he could carry and heading for the dock with her

Kay clung to his arm, this was, he decided, worse than being hungover. At least that was his own stupid fault.
He stared at the bird man, trying to focus. Help... Starr. Get out..

"look out!" Matt yelled as Thaila woke up in his usual violent manner. He winced. Yeesh, that guy really needed to work on those anger issues.

When they stood, Shock stepped back beside Merith again, who looked dully at Kay and Asher with a stone-faced expression. He only made sure Starr was safely in his arms before speaking again, his voice monotonous and trance-like, the man not knowing how to properly hide his pain and emotions. "Are we ready to go?"

Sadly heny wasn't looking out and ended up with a fist in the nose as she turned at the sudden noise. She landed backwards with a yell of pain holding her now bleeding and not healing nose.

"Oh shit." Thaila wheezed, but wasn't able to say much else as he retched black gunk into the bucket heny wisely put beside his head.

Ellie picked up the other bags, and hurried after Shane. "I hope they're okay."

"We're ready," Asher said to Merith, after pausing to pick up his jacket again.

Matt winced and struggled to his feet to help Heny. "He needs a warning sign I swear. Never go near him when he's unconcious. Maybe I should add that to their medical notes." He smiled softly and staggered over to Heny, still a bit wobbly from the tranqs. "You okay? Let's have a look."

She sat up whimpering as she showed her bleeding nose that was broken, but not healing at all as if suddenly the quick healing just...stopped.

"I do too" Shane said, though he doubted it, they wouldn't have left the bags if they were ok

"Thalia, you okay?" Matt called over, not taking his eyes off Heny's face. She was supposed to heal wasn't she? He scrambled for something to stem the bleeding. "Here... we should get the medics... where ARE the medics?"

Merith nodded, and turned back to the half-rebuilt self-made entrance. Suddenly the group would find themselves floating upwards, upwards... out of the hole just as it finally closed up, the barren earth striking against the snow. Shock floated over to Asher and Kay. "You're going to want to hold on."

"n-not sure." Heny said as she watched him run to get something.

Thaila coughed, "Ugh...brain...feels...mush.."

Kay's poor drugged brain really couldn't deal with this. He buried his head in Asher's chest and closed his eyes, refusing to have anything to do with all the crazy.

Matt found some gauze and cotton swabs and paper towels and kneeled down in front of Heny. "Here, hold still. Let's see how bad this is. " Hey, you hung around his brother enough, you picked up some basic first aid.

"Vestia, where is my brother?" He asked, glancing up at the camera.

She reluntly showed the damage, which was pretty decent since Thaila had a good swing.

"Not on board still." She said.
