Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-Eight

"Cause Esk is lazy and he wants someone to wait on Dawn, even though he has a massive crush on her and could wait on her himself," James grumbled. "At least that's what I assume was his motivation," he amended. "Your brother is weird. So Dawn's probably okay and not infected, that's good at least."

Vestia snickered. "Do you want me to limit that search to people who can drink, or is anyone okay? Cause there are a lot of androids around. Also Skye and Mourn are around, and Helen. A lot of people look tired or are total buzzkills, or already left though."

"That's a good idea. I don't think we should let James quit organic medic duty, but I'm sure there are some androids we could talk into taking the job," Asher said.

Skye and Jewel were sitting on top of Vestia, resting after their long flight.

Shane was still in the conference room, doing something on his tablet.

Dawn smiled again and nodded "We still have to talk to everyone and pick a room and all of that, right now it's still just idea stage." She was pretty good with bringing ideas to life though, like the ranch. It did take a lot of help but she could do it.

Kay smirked at Asher's comment. Yes, giving James a chance to shirk his duty more was probably unwise.

"Man, just anyone who wants to come out and isn't gonna be all judgey" Matt told Vestia.

Asher nodded. "We'll see what happens then." He looked around at the med bay some more, it was kind of appealing to have the original med bay just be run by him and Kay again.

Vestia would notify all non-judgey people about the group going to the city.

Mourn had robot code to sift through, and no interest in going out till it was done.

Meanwhile Armin was too sick to leave his room even if he wanted to, which was a shame as he was curious about this city.

Hewitt didn't DO night life, he was a daytime creature and would spend the hours without sunlight snoozing like most plants.

Silence looked to Ivor, tilting her head. No, he couldn't go out there, he'd freak out.

"You want to go... you should." Ivor told her. "get to know these people, this is... going to be home from now on after all yes?"

Silence nodded. She wasn't sure she knew HOW to interact with other people though. She wasn't exactly that socially experienced.

"If it's terrible, you can come back." Ivor smiled weakly.

Silence looked amused.

remember to eat. She told him.

Ivor laughed dully. "yeah, I will." He probably wouldn't, he wasn't very good at remembering to take care of himself.

Kay was quite pleased about the idea of getting his territory back.
[How are our stock supplies?] Now with more people on board, they'd need to restock more regularly.
Hopefully the new guests weren't as accident prone as the crew.

Esk went for a walk with no real destination in mind. He'd end up somewhere on the ship.

Among the MegaBrainTech androids, Moriah and Tobias decided to go. Bess and Levi wanted to stay in Vestia in case the new androids needed help with something.

Ethan considered going, but decided against it. He'd already been pretty busy today, and now he wanted to relax. Maybe he'd visit with Hewitt... Not for any specific reason mind you, just because the guy amused him.
He went looking for Hewitt.

Tala was already somewhere in the city, heck, maybe they'd find her out there.

"Vestia ordered more supplies, so we should be all right, but we should probably order more to make sure both med bays are fully stocked," Asher said. He would have made a joke about how they didn't need to buy more condoms yet cause nobody used the darned things, but decided against that for Tori and Dawn's sake.

Hewitt was in his room, lightly snoozing as he often did. He wasn't overly difficult to wake thankfully.

Kay nodded. [Good idea. There's no such thing as being too prepared.] He glanced to Tori. [You said you were a nurse, in all but title yes? Well, if you want the job, I think we can promote you] He smiled softly.

Matt grinned at Ellie. "Grab Shane, let's go hit the town!"

Ethan knocked on the door. "Professor?"

Tori couldn't help but smile at Kay's words. She'd liked working in the hospital, and she'd been pretty good at it. She probably would have wanted to stick with that job even if she hadn't been forced to be there. "I like the sound of a promotion," she said.

Ellie grinned. "Meet you at the ramp!" She raced off to find Shane.

Hewitt mumbled in his sleep, something about going away and coming back tomorrow.

"yeah yeah..." Matt wheeled himself off toward the ramp, probably bumping into anyone else who was going to join them along the way.

Ethan hesitated, eyeing the closed door. Waking up grumpy old guys was a stupid idea, right? They'd hit you with their canes until you ran off.
Then again, he reminded himself, he was free now. If Hewitt hit him, he could hit back. Encouraged by that thought, he knocked louder on the door. "Professor?"

Tobias and Moriah were heading to the ramp. They spotted Matt.

"Hello Matt!" Moriah said brightly.

Hewitt snorted and woke up. "What?!" He shouted grumpily.

Matt waved "hey uh.." nope, he couldn't remember her name. Oops? "sorry... mind is just blank." Yeah he could remember all his stupid little vacuum bots names but people he'd only met like once? not so much.

Ethan twitched at that shout, wondering if it was really wise to push his luck like this. He reminded himself firmly at he was free, rolling his eyes at his own paranoia, and squaring his shoulders. "It's Ethan. I got sick of the library so I figured I'd bother you."

Moriah smiled at Matt. "It's okay, we've barely ever talked." And her species had forgettable faces anyway. "I'm Moriah, this is Tobias."

Tobias smiled his weird, slightly fake looking smile. Five series androids really didn't display emotion well. "You don't mind us taking along, do you?"

Skye and Jewel would come down to join in the party for exploring, though they didn't drink.

Sawna looked up tot he camera nearest her then nodded "I would like to explore more, let me know if the child wakes though.

Starr was still at the ramp. She turned to look at the group as they started to assemble. "What are you guys up to?"

Shane looked to the door when Ellie found him, standing and closing out the tablet. "You get everything sorted?" He asked curiously.

Hewitt sighed. "Come in then." He wasn't getting up. He was sitting cross legged on his bed, the way he usually did when he was resting.

"No no that's fine guys, the more the merrier." Matt nodded to Moriah and Tobias and waved to Skye and Jewel.
"We're gonna go check out the nightlife." Matt told Starr. "well.. the wheelchair accessable nightlife." He made a face, boo wheelchairs, boo.

Kay looked around a bit more. [You can start immediately if you like, while we're docked we can use this time to move things over and get this side running.] After all, they might be here a while depending on how Armin was.

Dawn smiled again, happy to have her wanting the job. "That's settled then, you are a nurse. you me and James will run this facility, unless he takes the new position." She said and looked around from where she sat. "First thing to do is inventory, see what we need while we are on planet to buy it." She said then looked up to Vestia's camera "Is James free to come up here?"

Starr smiled at Matt, going over to touch his arm. She knew he hated the chair. "Be careful out there, all of you."

Skye and Jewel waved back, coming over to the group. "Sounds fun" Skye said. She was curious about this nightlife.

Sawna looked around at the group as they gathered, taking note of who was there and going.

Soon enough, the Devil returned to Vestia, landing in her place and shutting down. Rigel looked to Luka before he opened the ramp to let James on.

Ethan pushed the door open, pausing a moment at the door to make sure nothing was about to be thrown at him. After a moment he went in, and snagged a chair to sit on. "You'll be delighted to know that the star dragon meeting was a rousing success, Esk didn't even shoot his dad," Ethan said, doubting that Hewitt would even care, much less actually be delighted.

Moriah smiled at the Artuvians and Starr. "We'll all be careful." She looked at Matt, "I'm pretty sure we'll be able to find something, Terrans like making their buildings accessible."

"James is a bit busy at the moment, I'll call him over when he isn't," Vestia told the medics. "Sorry!"

Tori smiled softly. She really did like the sound of her new job title. "That's fine. We can check the inventory, and start planning the move."

"We don't need his feedback just yet, if he's busy," Asher agreed. "We can start planning without him, maybe enlist Vestia's bots to help us move things."

James eyed the ramp, considered flouncing up it, decided that was too antagonistic, and headed up the ramp into the Silver Devil at a more normal pace. "Guys, you here?"

Hewitt scoffed. "What a shame, that might have actually been interesting." He opened one eye to look at Ethan.

Matt nodded to Starr, looking grim for a moment before masking it with a forced grin.

Silence lumbered up to the ramp in her true form, which startled Matt a little.
He stared at her wide eyed. Nope, shifters were just flat out weird looking.

Silence tilted her head back at him.

"Uh.. might... be an idea to look less um... " terrifying? scary? intimidating? "alien?" Matt suggested awkwardly.

Silence nodded her head and shifted form. It was less violent with her than Kay, her bones didn't make that awful cracking splintering sound for a start, but it was still bizarre and sort of freaky to watch her body shrink in on itself and mutate before their eyes.
Adopting her humanoid form she once more tilted her head. "better?" The amulet asked for her.

Matt nodded. "safer."

Silence nodded, she understood that.

Luka looked back to Rigel, ducking her head and trying to look as normal and not guilty as possible for James. "Up here." She called from the cockpit, heading down the ladder to meet him.

Kay nodded. [I can take notes.] Weirdly, he actually sort of liked running inventory. It was something he and Asher often did together and a chance to just sort of chat and not take things too seriously. Ahem.

Ethan snickered. He found Hewitt's commentary amusing for some reason. "I thought you didn't approve of violence, Professor. A bullet to the head is definitely violence."

James headed up, following Luka's voice. "Hey guys, have a good time in the city?" He did his best to not look suspicious.

"I'll carry boxes as directed," Tori said. Despite being a bit smaller than Kay, she was probably the most able-bodied person in the room at the moment. Oh dear.

Asher smiled. He was kind of looking forward to a big project, it was nice to have something important to do. "I'll order all you guys around." He was joking on that, probably.

"I don't approve of the mess." Hewitt told Ethan with a huff. "but if the savages want to shoot one another so be it."

Luka nodded, trying very hard not to blush and rather relieved that focusing on climbing the ladder meant she was turned away from James. "Yes, and we tested the modifications to the ship, she's running great now." Yes, talk about the ship, that was a good subject. She turned to James once she got to the bottom of the ladder and smiled.

Kay rolled his eyes at Asher, smiling. He nodded to Tori. [First things first, inventory.]

Starr smiled at Silence and nodded. "Safer, and that is a priority." She said happily and looked over the group, she was debating whether to go or stay.

"Yeah, we're here and safe" Rigel said with a chuckle. "Just testing some improvements and saw the festival thing so we decided to have some fun."

Dawn nodded and glanced to Kay then looked to Tori again. "I am glad for your help, I don't think I have been approved to lift things yet?"

Ethan nodded. "Fair enough. So, now there are so many baby dragons on board, are you still planning to teach them astrophysics?" They'd be old enough really soon, those little dragons grew like weeds.

James followed Luka up. "Oh good, glad the ship is less of a death trap now," he said. "That's a relief." He looked at Rigel and Luka when they reached the cockpit, trying to read their body language, but be subtle about it. Oh yes, he was suspicious about all this.

Neither Moriah nor Tobias seemed too unnerved by Silence, they'd seen her around the ship by now, and besides, androids weren't really designed to have visceral reactions to physical appearances. Still, she was odd looking.

"Will you be coming too, Starr?" Moriah asked.

"Inventory's a good place to start," Asher agreed, looking amused. He looked to Dawn, "Yeah, you should probably still be avoiding lifting things," he agreed. "No need to overexert yourself yet."

Kay looked to Dawn. [I take it you're feeling a lot better now?] He shook his head. [Regardless, it's probably wise to take it easy for the next few days.]

"Don't be mean to her!" Luka tutted and patted the ship's wall affectionately. "it's okay girl, he doesn't really think you're a death trap."

"Yeah you gonna join us?" Matt asked Starr. "I don't think we have any real plan but you know... it's a big city, there's bound to be something worth seeing."

Dawn nodded and dipped her head a little "Yeah, I'm feeling better." She said then smiled again. "Inventory, though I don't think we should take from your lab though, just see what we have and need here."

Star shrugged a little "I was debating that, it does sound fun though."

Rigel shook his head a little. "She can turn better now, I fixed that part well enough."

"We can get an entirely new set of supplies for the new med bay," Asher agreed. "Make sure we're really well stocked for the next leg of our voyage. There probably aren't a lot of supply depots out near Imperium space, I'm guessing."

Tori looked nervous at the mention of going near the Imperium, but nodded. "Best to be very well stocked up before we leave Terran space," she said.

"This ship is totally a death trap," James teased. "Glad she's running better now, at least."

"You should come along, it'll be fun," Moriah told Starr.

Dawn nodded at that "We never know when a situation will arise where we need these rooms." She said softly. "I just hope the kids are still safe when we get there to pick them up."

"She isn't a death trap, she's our Devil." Rigel said with a chuckle on his way to his room. He would pick out one or two of the prizes to keep, but brought the rest of the bag out. "We got prizes, I figure the kids would like them."

Starr dipped her head and smiled then looked over to Moriah. "Alright, One of my people will watch my egg while I am out." She had talked to them already

Luka made a face at James. "Don't provoke her." She smiled at the prizes. "the staff at the stalls didn't like us much." She laughed. "we kept beating their games."

Matt flinched ever so slightly at the mention of the egg, nope, it was still icky. But for Starr's sake he hid his discomfort. "is this everyone?"

Kay nodded. He wasn't sure about resupply places, their route out of the imperium hadn't exactly been that direct.
He frowned a little at the mention of the kids being safe. He worried about them, and his brother who was still incommunicado. He chewed his lip. [Let's get to work.] otherwise he knew he'd sit here and fret.
