She chuckled, "It is, trust me I been there." Softly her face faltered before returning back to normal. "anyway... i uh have no clue what else to ask." Thaila said sheepishly.

Orel shook his head. For all that Moone was a blasphemer, he had to admit to himself that she seemed to be a very unselfish person. "It could just be that you're just very kind people," he suggested. He wasn't sure he would have done it, even if he had been an orphan.

Skye shrugged and sat back, looking up towards the sky "We didn't even think at the time, it was kind of chaotic with the creator showing up burnt and with the infants in her arms. It was instinct to get the babies out of the way and check on their health while she was tended to."

"You certainly have had some incredible adventures while you've been traveling with Vestia." Orel imagined a Creator flying in on her four wings, all burnt and carrying baby avians. It almost defied imagination.

"Some experiences we could have done without" Skye said softly, thinking of when the Family had had them all.

Orel nodded. "No doubt about it. Still, I can't help being glad it all led you here." He looked at the ground, blushing a bit. Apparently being in danger of attack at any moment made him forget all his resolutions about not having any feelings for Skye. Darn.

Skye looked to him then flushed and looked away again. Why did he have to be so cute? "You are glad?"

Orel looked guiltily at Skye. "Yeah. Bad timing for me to say or think something like that, I know."

Skye frowned a little then looked to him again "I am glad we met too"

"I'll see you in training, I guess?" Orel looked a bit hopeful. Which he shouldn't because they were preparing for war, but he couldn't help it.

Skye nodded then glanced out to where Moone was watching them "Yes, I should go for now"

Orel nodded, half-smiled at Moone, and stood back from Skye. "Be safe on your journey," he told Moone, dropping his normal 'Rycdos guide you' because it would only stir up frustration.

Moone looked at Orel then to Skye and back again, landing lightly on the railing "Rycdos guide you Orel" She said then turned and flew off.

Skye stood, watching Moone until she flew off then looking to Orel again "Be safe" She said gently before following after her sister

Orel watched Moone go, a bit stunned and not sure what to make of her words. "Be safe," he replied to Skye as she left.

Skye and Moone headed back to Vestia together. Moone glanced to Skye then sighed "They are the same being, so I can say that, since it's the name he believes in" She said at her sister's look.

Orel watched the two go. Strange girls. He headed off to help his parents pack.

Asher and Kay headed into the city, which was bustling with activity. Many shop owners were loading their goods into carts, or their shop fronts were simply dark, signs reading [Closed] in the windows. Practitioners of a number of religions stood at the sides of the roads, calling out prayers and offering holy books to passers by. Peacekeepers watched from every corner, waiting for trouble. Some people went on with their days as if nothing had changed, but they were a minority.

"Wow," Asher said softly. "Things have changed a lot since last time we were here."

Kay looked grim. [Mortal danger will do that to a place. ] He scoured the buildings, looking for anything that looked like it could withstand attack.

Asher frowned and nodded. It was sad to know why all these folk were fleeing, and the sorts of things that might happen to anyone who stayed.

There were a lot of fancy old stone buildings around town here. A lot of them looked fairly sturdy, although most had huge windows in the front that would be susceptible to gunfire and make it easy to see anyone in the building. There were a couple of less showy stone buildings down the side alleys though, with smaller doors and no windows. Little restaurants, bookshops, places of worship, and who knew what else.

Kay thoughtfully considered all the buildings, taking note of ease of access and defensability. They'd need medics spread across the city undoubtedly, working various pop up medical stations. [Let's go to the hospital, see if they have any plans.]

"Yes, let's do that," said Asher. They'd head for the hospital. "It'd be very nice if they'd already considered this, and might save us some time."

Kay nodded. [It would.] He'd find someone important looking and offer his assistance, explaining he was a trained military nurse who worked on the front line previously.

They'd find out about plans for any medical stations.

There weren't a lot of plans, apparently the general opinion of the Guild had been that this city was pretty much immune to attacks, and that the hospital's warding was enough. The idea that there might be fighting on the streets someday hadn't really crossed anyone's mind before
A few requests had been put out recently though, and a few potential buildings had been identified. Nothing was in them yet, but they looked promising, with lots of space for wounded people and fairly defensible positions.

Kay looked annoyed, these people really were so frustrating.
He sort of took over in that stroppy angry way of his and started trying to get people to get the hell out of this place, spread out and set up triage stations just in case.
The family were coming, and when they arrived it was unlikely they'd be subtle or civilised about it. This hospital was a massive target to those assholes, but that didn't mean they should abandon it. Just spread their resources just in case.
They also needed to not rely on magic, if the family could take out magic they'd need as many conventional medics as possible too.

He went on a mission to find non anamcara medics to help man the medical stations.

He threw himself completely into this, military training coming to the forefront as he glared and gesticulated and generally took charge.

Asher didn't have Kay's years of experience, so he stayed quiet unless there was some reason for him to speak up, and silently admired Kay's ability to get things done. Oh man, he loved this guy so much.

The hospital admins listened to Kay's advice, and weren't too stubborn or overconfident about anything, thank goodness. They sent out someone to recruit every non-magical medic they could, and started looking into transporting resources to the locations they had picked.
Only a few hospital managers insisted that the hospital was untouchable and by far the best place to bring the wounded, and they were pretty much ignored after a bit.

Kay just shot the managers a glower, exactly like the one Matt would often claim made him look just like his mother. That made them wilt fairly rapidly.

Taking charge certainly took Kay's mind off his grief at losing Danika and the other kids. He absolutely embraced it.

Asher was somewhat distracted from his own sorrow and fear by Kay's bad tempered bossiness. It was nice to see Kay acting like himself. Well, like his more grumpy and frustrated self. Still, better than moping.

By the time the hour before the meeting was up, a lot more hospital preparations would be under way. So that was good.
