She chuckled, "It is, trust me I been there." Softly her face faltered before returning back to normal. "anyway... i uh have no clue what else to ask." Thaila said sheepishly.

The guard looked unconvinced. "Look, I know Asher--you are Asher, right? Not the other one--was at the trial today, but none of you guys are really qualified to be consulting with the Inquisitors at this time. We're very busy handling this situation."

Asher sighed. "We've dealt with the Family twice, and we have a lot of experience with Keepers. Please let us in." He added in almost a whisper, "We have control of all this Universe's dakkon daggers."

The guard's eyes widened at that reminder. "Right this way," he said, and lead them toward one of the buildings.

Web smiled at Asher, yep, that'd do it.

He followed the guard.

Dawn stayed silent, watching the people as they were finally allowed to go on.

They were taken into a large conference room, where an Inquisitor was talking to some very worried looking peacekeepers. The Inquisitor and the peacekeepers all looked up to eye the newcomers.

"Sir," the guard said, a bit nervous, bowing his head to the Inquisitor, "These people wished to speak to you. They also wished to remind us that they have all the dakkon daggers at their disposal."

The Inquisitor raised an eyebrow. "So now Vestia's crew are using extortion to get meetings with us?"

Asher winced. "I'd prefer to not think of it that way, Sir, but I see your point. It was my idea, not theirs."

The Inquisitor shook his head. "Fine. So tell me, what is the meaning of this visit?"

Web looked unimpressed, folding his arms and leaving Asher to this as he knew these people better.
He glanced around, trying to get a read on the emotional state of those in the room and ascertain how likely they were to actually be reasonable. These people were, he decided, rather difficult to deal with.

"We have been honest and have given information to you before that is tot eh benefit of all who love here, we are trying to do the same again, that is not extortion." Dawn said with an unhappy frown at the inquisitor. "We are going to fight the Family with or without assistance from you"

The Inquisitor frowned. Web would pick up a fair bit of 'somewhat pissed off' on the guy, partly from the direction the day had taken, and partly from Asher's borderline threat he had used to get this meeting.

Asher kind of stayed back, looking sheepish. It might be a good idea for him to shut up for a bit.

"We have concluded that it is of greatest likelihood that the Family have stolen technologies from the Aketi to defeat you with!" Tala proclaimed. "We suspect they stole scanners, is this correct?"

"Yes," the Inquisitor said after a moment, "It is."

Tala nodded. "We are planning ways to fight back. We will need the assistance of the Guild of Scribes to develop infrastructure in this city and perhaps the help of non-anamcara troops, who will be less susceptible to scanners. We also believe it would be most sensible to begin a large scale evacuation of those who cannot be expected to fight the Family."

The Inquisitor frowned, but looked like he was considering the idea at least.

Web lowered his arms, bowing his head. "It's not our intention to threaten or bribe you, this is your city, these are your people. We simply offer our assistance. These people have dealt with the family before, they have ideas that may help counter their plans. It would be to everyone's advantage should we work together to protect this place and the people within it. " he paused. "Nobody in this room wishes to see unnecessary bloodshed."

The Inquisitor nodded, somewhat mollified by Web's words. "It's true, we all want peace and safety for all our people. I'll send tacticians to your ship to review your plans, and we can decide where to go from there. Are there any other requests you wish to make?"

Dawn nodded to what they said then looked over the group here "They have ways of taking out magic users with their anti-magic generators, so we will need those who are not reliant on magic to help in the defense of the Guild too."

The Inquisitor nodded. "The tacticians will decide with you what will be needed, and bring the information to the Inquisitors for review. I'm sure we can find some non-magical troops if such is deemed necessary."

"The non-magic users did the most damage when we were captured before" Dawn said then turned to leave with a shrug "But yeah, planning needs to be done because they are coming."

Web nodded. "Do you have an evacuation plan in place? We have children on board that need to be taken to safety, I seek permission to leave with them." He looked grim.

"We have evacuation plans, and can move much of the population to outer territories, and from there teleport them in small numbers to integrate into other societies," the Inquisitor said. "If you want to take your children somewhere different for safety, we can temporarily add your vital signature to the teleportation whitelist."

Web nodded. "My thanks. May fortune smile on us." He bowed his head.

"We are most grateful for your support!" Tala said with a swish of her tail.

Asher ducked his head. "Thank you," he said quietly.

"Go safely, I'll send some tacticians soon," the Inquisitor said.

Web bowed his head again and joined the others.

Tala lead the way back out, with the guard from earlier following closely.

The group returned to the city, and from there, toward Vestia.

Dawn followed quietly again, thinking about the fight to come.

The press release about what the Family had done to the Aketi base and what they had stolen was finally put out.

About half the city freaked, the other half just laughed and shrugged. The Guild was a safe place, right? A refuge for the lost and the hurt! Nothing could get in here.

A couple of recruiters showed up at the Artuvian apartment building, looking for volunteers to fight should the Family come.

Orel immediately signed up. His parents tried to convince him not to, but he did anyway. As did several of his friends. He talked his parents out of signing up somehow, so they ended up evacuating the city.

This was his home, and these were his people. No way were the Family going to take that from him.

The eagles and hummingbirds signed up to help where they could as wella s many others, though anyone with young chose to flee instead of staying to fight.

Jewel headed for Vestia to talk to Skye and Moone

Starr looked for a security person so she could get whitelisted and get things ready.

A peacekeeper totally helpfully whitelisted Starr, yay.

Once whitelisted, Starr turned to Web to take his hand so he could take them to their old home so she could make a portal and so she would know where to find her babies later, after the war.

The peacekeepers looked a bit frazzled trying to keep the peace. People wanted answers, reassurances, as predicted, it was starting to get crowded and tense out in town.

Web kept his head down and got everything organized as quickly as possible.
once they had permission they found somewhere quiet.

"Do you have everything you need?" Web asked, taking her hand in his. "Whatever you do, don't let go until I tell you it's safe. You uh... you might want to close your eyes, it can be a little disorienting."

Starr nodded and gave him a small smile. Yeah, she was a bit nervous about leaving. "I have everything I need." She said, holding onto him, though she didn't close her eyes. She was curious about how he did this magic and wanted to see it.

Web nodded, tightened his grip a little and stepped backward, dragging Starr with him.

Reality seemed to shimmer and ripple around them, there was a small tugging sensation, and then it felt like they were falling.
It was too quick to see anything in the realm between, in the time it took to blink it was over and they stumbled backward a few paces onto grass. Starr might feel a residue tingling sensation as reality closed around them.
