Shane nodded then shrugged "She's taught me some, and the classes and other dragons have taught me some. Starr is a pro at this though, she knows how to infuse a spell on the metal so it can do whatever she wants it to. All I can do so far is change the shape of the metal."

"I'm from another universe," Ethan said, "I don't just look like the medic Asher, I literally am him from a different timeline. They got sent over there as punishment by a bitchy godlike being, and I came back with them." He'd told this all to his shrink a couple days ago, and it sounded just as stupid now as it had then. Oops?

Ellie looked awed. "What can Starr make metal do?" She asked.

"Pretty much whatever she can imagine." Shane said then shook his head "If she thought about it, she could make guns melt into useless slags."

"Whoa..." Ellie said, impressed. "Starr is so scary, oh my gosh." She paused to hug Shane, "You're cute now, but you're gonna be scary too when you're her age, just you wait."

Hewitt watched him, then shook his head. "That's a pretty bold claim." Yeah he didn't believe him.

Shane chuckled and nodded "Yeah, if I live to her age. She knows so much from so many." Yeah, even he was impressed by the queen. He moved then to put the necklace on her and slipped the tiny knife in a pocket of his pants

Ethan shrugged. "You don't have to believe me if you don't want to, but like you noticed, I'm kind of different from the androids here." He trailed his fingers over the surface of a shelf, "The Terran Empire here doesn't condone slavery, so the androids don't feel pain. Over there, slavery is normal and expected, so we're coded to respond the way an organic would. Androids are treated like any other slave there, not like some special class of lifeless automaton. It's why I'm not like these guys, even though I look just like one of them."

Ellie smiled at Shane. "You're a smart guy, I'm sure you'll learn all her tricks. Or most of them, at least."

Shane shrugged then nodded "I'm not too worried about learning them, or different ones." No, what bothered him was the possibility of not living long enough to.

"Okay," Ellie reached up to ruffle his hair. "Wanna go, like, do something fun until the fun starts?"

Hewitt frowned a little, considering it. Well certainly the robot seemed convinced of it. "well... it has been postulated that alternate universes could be possible..." He accepted reluctantly. "in fact there's at least a half dozen theories on how this universe may not be the only one and what any alternate or parallel universe may look like. " He paused. "Theoretical physics is a vast and complex subject and the universe is even more enormous and bewildering than that. " He hadn't really noticed that Ethan and Asher were identical, he didn't pay much attention to their faces really and all of them kinda looked the same to his eye anyway.

"I can't say I have any idea how multiple universes would work, why they'd have multiple versions of the same people with the same names in vastly different situations in each universe, or whether this isn't some mass delusion of this crew, but I saw it, they saw it, and we all believe it," Ethan said with another shrug.

Kooshie wrote:"Okay," Ellie reached up to ruffle his hair. "Wanna go, like, do something fun until the fun starts?"

Shane nodded and smiled at her "What did you have in mind?"

"Umm," Ellie had, as usual, not thought that far yet. "Maybe we can hunt down some of our buddies and make them have a pre-party party with us," she said.

Shane chuckled and shrugged "Alright, though I'm not sure how much of a partying mood anyone will be in. Quite a few don't celebrate full moons here."

"That's why we have a daytime party with them," Ellie said. "So they can have cake and beer, but minus the moon." She looked pleased with her plan.

Shane chuckled and nodded "Worst they could do is say 'no' right?"

Ellie nodded and grinned. "Now we just gotta find people to ask."

Hewitt nodded. "Curious, very curious..."

Shane took Ellie's hand as they started out to find anyone

Ethan nodded. "This is, obviously, why I normally don't tell people about it. It's not exactly an easy story to believe." He found himself absently rubbing his arm again, and made himself stop. Man, that encounter with Kay had done weird things to his mind. Here he was, telling secrets and freaking out about a half second's physical contact. He added, "You can ask James if you don't believe me, that idiot started the whole thing."

Ellie squeezed Shane's hand as they headed down the corridor. Maybe they'd run into Luka and Moone as they walked or something.

Shane held her hand then waved the Moone and Luka when they saw them.

Moone waved back to them and smiled. "Hi guys"

"How?" Hewitt asked curiously.

Luka waved to Shane and Ellie half heartedly. "hello." She tried to sound friendly.

"Hey Luka, Moone. Are you two alright today?" Shane asked, smiling at Moone's nod.

Luka looked at the floor. "you didn't hear then?" She mumbled, rubbing her sore shoulder idly.

Ethan snorted. "Apparently Vestia's crew picked up a godlike being who was kind of a brat. They rescued him from somewhere, I'm not sure where or why. Anyway James got in a conversation with him, took a disliking to him, and then proceeded to insult him and not apologize. So Todd, as James named him, sent them all to the other universe as punishment."

Hewitt snorted derisively. "Magic users, ripping holes in space time just to make a petty point, seems about right."

Luka frowned. "Minotaurs..." She mumbled, she didn't look up having apparently taken a sudden intense interest in her own shoes. "Esk's in the hospital."
