Upon Vestia: Chapter Nineteen

Luka tilted her head. "that's sweet James, but it's not like you can really get properly hurt right?"

"I still don't want to be mauled by werewolves or cornered by racist dicks," James said. "Doesn't hurt, but it's still no fun."

"Take a gun?" Luka suggested.

"Not sure it's worth it. I'm really... Not that hyped for this festival," James said. "Especially not without you, it just doesn't seem like something I want to deal with."

At one point in time, an Anamcara decorated in Peacekeeper uniform paused at the foot of Vestia's ramp, hesitating for a second before inquiring, "May I enter?"

Luka smiled sadly. "I'm sorry James." She lowered her head. "I just don't think I can face it." She sighed. "Did everyone else go?"

"Depends what you're here for," Vestia told the anamcara, sounding a bit concerned by the sight of a peacekeeper. "What's up?"

James smiled softly. "I get it, Luka. You don't have to apologize, I know I wouldn't be up for going either if I was in your shoes." He got up and hugged her a bit. "Not everyone went. A lot of kids stayed, I think the hawk girls did, Esk of course, Asher, and I'm pretty sure Heny. Oh, and Dawn and Rigel! There's a lot of people here tonight."

Luka stiffened a little at the hug but nodded. "Dawn and Rigel? W.. Why didn't Rigel go?" She frowned. "Is Esk okay? I know he's up and about but is he actually okay?"

James released Luka, noticing her reaction. "Sorry," he said apologetically. "Not sure why they didn't go, but I'm pretty sure they're here. I'm also not sure Esk is okay, I haven't talked to him myself, I only know that he was healed enough to be up and about. He can't be on too bad shape I guess? Man, who knows with that guy though."

Oh james was correct Heny was staying in, Luka wasn't the only one that worried about if she headed out. She was on her way back when she heard Vestia talking, she grimance as she looked at one of the security camera screens to see the Peacekeeper.

Luka considered for a while, then nodded. "It would be a shame not to make the most of your lovely suit... and I was looking forward to getting dressed up... maybe... maybe we should just... dress up and go up to the ballroom and dance or something, just.. have fun, I don't know." She smiled weakly. "our own little Silver Devil party. Well, most of the Silver Devil..."

James smiled softly. "Yeah, let's go get some nice music and put on our nice clothes, and enjoy the evening. Vestia has a great ballroom, I've heard."

"I have news from Tactician Arya," the Peacekeeper said, "in regards to the accused, Merith Sol."

Luka nodded and stood up. "See if Dawn and Rigel want to join us." She told him, then added "and anyone else who's about..." She'd go get changed.

"Oh." Vestia sounded worried. "What's the news about Merith?"
