Upon Vestia: Chapter Nineteen

Ellie winced, remembering the nasty scarring on Kay's hand. Who would have guessed silver was so scary? Yuck. "Good idea. Wear silver, and keep someone else between me and the werewolves. Yo Asher, you sure you don't wanna come along and be my date-slash-meat shield?"

Asher gave Ellie a long suffering look. "Do you even have to ask?"

Ellie sighed. "Fine. Maybe I'll find James and talk him into it then."

Asher looked mildly amused.

Ellie looked at Starr again. "Are you gonna wear silver then?"

"Shane will go with you if you ask. I believe he and Matt went shopping, right?" Starr asked then looked to Ellie "I will have silver with me, but I cannot openly wear it. That might be seen as an insult, and without a land or a free people, I cannot purposefully insult anyone."

"You're so diplomatic," Ellie said with an admiring sigh. "Yeah, I'll ask Shane. He can get infected though so that's no fun."

Asher smiled at Starr. She was going to be such a good queen for the star dragons. For that matter, she already was. It was wonderful to see.

"Not unless the virus is mutated." Starr said then shrugged "As it normally is, dragons are immune."

"He's half human though, does that make a difference?" Ellie asked.

Starr shook her head then smiled at Ellie. "No, from what I have studied of it, the dragon side is enough to protect him."

"Oh. Okay!" Elle looked pleased. "That means I don't need to worry if I'm carrying lycanthropy either."

Asher gave her an odd look. "Pretty sure you'd still have to worry."

Ellie giggled. She wasn't going to take the possibility of being infected very seriously by this point. It was a waste of time.

Asher looked to Danika. Hopefully she hadn't been listening to all this.

Luka nodded to Moone. "Thank you for sticking up for me." She looked away, rubbing her bruised shoulder distractedly. "I hope Esk's okay... "

Starr shook her head and sighed "You are still Terran Ellie, even with magic. Your blood is still Terran alone." Yeah, she had noticed when they had their blood work done over there.

"Last I heard he was, but that was a while back" Moone said then shrugged a little "I can go try to find out"

"Aww," Ellie said. She grinned, "But at least I don't need to worry about infecting my boyfriend."

Luka shook her head. "No.. no i don't think it's a good idea to go back out there. He has his brother with him, and Dawn. " She looked grim. "they'll .. they'll find a way to contact us if they need to right?" She hoped they wouldn't. No news was good news right?

"Now that part is true" Starr said with a soft chuckle.

"Ellie sick too?" Danika asked. Yes, she had been listening closely as they all talked, not playing like her clutchmates.

Moone shrugged again "We just came back again, but ok. We can ask Vestia to let us know any news as it comes in." She said and glanced up to the cameras.

Luka nodded. "she will." She smiled affectionately at the camera.

Moone smiled at the camera then patted the wall "Vestia is the best ship ever."

"Ellie's okay. She got better," Asher told Danika reassuringly.

Ellie nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I'll tell you when I know more," Vestia told Luka and Moone.

Danika settled on his shoulder, folding her legs beneath herself. "Ellie better, why dad not better?"

Luka smiled a little more sincerely. "Don't let the devil hear you say that, she'll sulk."

"With Ellie they stopped the sickness before it could stick to her," Asher explained, "Kay has had it for years though so it's stuck to him." Explaining lycanthropy to a hatchling. Man, this was hard.

Ellie nodded sagely. "Your dad's made of awesomeness though so he's okay," she told Danika.

Moone giggled then shrugged "I haven't been on the Devil yet."

Danika thought about that then lowered her head, laying against Asher's chest. "Dad okay." Yeah, she didn't know words like awesomeness yet. "Dad be okay"

Asher petted Danika's good wing and back soothingly. "Kay is okay," he told her. "He'll be back soon, and then you can ask him."

Luka's face lit up. "You haven't? Want a tour?"

Danika purred at the petting, nuzzling against his fingers happily at that.

Moone chuckled and nodded "I would like a tour."

Asher smiled affectionately at her. "Want to read a book or go for a walk or something?" Maybe Danika wanted something to distract her from Kay's absence.

"Book, book" Danika chirped. She loved listening to him read.

Vela and Kerr joined in on the 'book' chirps because Asher did that the best.

The hatchlings' enthusiasm was infectious, and Asher happily went to the shelf to pick out a few books, which he brought over for the hatchlings to inspect and vote on. He figured they should get some say in what they heard.

Ellie sat back to watch. Okay, this was sorta cute too. Heck, baby dragons made everything cute.

Luka smiled. "alright." She slipped the pendant on over her head and tucked the silver blade under her shirt and got her boots back on. "if someone starts yeling it's just Acus, ignore him, he just hates visitors"
