Armin nodded. "This is true, I have been so caught up in my sewing I have neglected to socialize as much as I would like."

Orel snickered too. Okay, if Skye liked this guy, he could see why. "I think they'd disqualify me for that."

"It happens to all of us," James said. "I mean not to me because I don't work, but you know, it happens to people." He nodded sympathetically.

"it competition? " He looked around, well that explained all the stands. "Rules say no allowed spikes? " He looked disappointed, stupid rules. "Maybe.. make loud noise, scare all stupid people away!" He suggested, remembering how much he'd hated noise when he'd briefly been able to hear it. Yuck.

Armin chuckled. "Once this dress is finished I shall have more time, but perhaps it would be good for me to force myself to take more breaks. I get absorbed and completely distracted in what I am doing, it is not always... healthy."

Skye giggled and shook her head a little "No, a spike wouldn't work well for a toy" Hm

Oren laughed. "No spikes in the rules. Even letting you help probably isn't good for my chances of winning, oh well." He looked at the other peoples' displays, yeah, a lot of them were way better than what he'd made. Oh well. "Noise might work, but it's really supposed to be the car moving, not the people."

"I'll try to bother you regularly. You don't want to burn out on dress making," James said, "Breaks are good. Even my brother admits that."

"People big problem." Mourn nodded. "Motion sensors that no use laser maybe. What prize?" He asked curiously.

"That sounds sensible, I appreciate it." Armin bowed his head gratefully.

Orel nodded. "Different types of motion sensors are worth thinking about. The prize is getting into one of the top tech programs here at the Guild. Not the ones for the anamcara who have been here for centuries, the ones for younger students who didn't already major in two forms of magic."

"Oh, tech programs are good if you can keep up with them" Skye said, looking to him and smiling again.

"Definitely. I'd like to learn to code more advanced stuff, this little car is fun, but I'm more interested in autopilots for ships, or automated defense tech," Orel said. He looked proud. "What are you interested in, Skye?"

Skye flushed again and shrugged, looking away "Nothing much, just taking care of my sister and the chicks." She said shyly

Orel smiled at Skye. "The chicks?" He asked.

"Avians." Mourn looked distasteful. He didn't much like the chicks, they were small and irritating and absorbed too much of the hawk girl's time. He didn't get it.

Skye nodded "Yes, the avians. Their creator was able to save three of the chicks and brought them to our ship, so my sister and I ended up taking care of them"

Orel looked like he found that pretty weird. "You're not that old, are you? Why do you have to take care of them?"

Skye shook her head "No, I'm only 19, but she was hurt and could barely move when she arrived, so we just took over caring for them." She paused then shrugged "We kind of adopted them."

"Oh. Okay." Orel still looked kind of confused, but he shrugged it off and started fiddling with his program app.

Skye frowned a little and looked down at her hands. It hadn't seemed weird to her to help where she could

Orel looked at Skye, and felt suddenly awkward. Oh crap, had he just offended her or made her feel weird? Not good, not good. "It was a good thing you did," he said hastily. Don't hate me don't hate me don't hate me

Skye glanced back to him again and smiled softly. "Yeah, the others all had so much to do and we knew what they needed." She shrugged again "Avian babies are a lot like Artuvian ones."

"I haven't met many Avian babies, I guess they would be similar," Orel said. He smiled at Skye. She was obviously a very nice person to do that for babies were were complete strangers.
Yes, his teenage hormones were making him think a bit weirdly. Did he care? Nah.

Skye smiled at that and nodded "They are cute too. I, um, I could probably show you, if you wanted to meet them?"

Umm, floundered Orel's brain, Ummmm. Babies, nahhh. "That sounds great," said his mouth, "I'd love to meet your family."

Skye gave him a bigger smile at that, happy that he wanted to meet her family. "We should probably plan on you coming over to the ship tomorrow sometime though, since it is night and the others are asleep."

"Good idea," Orel said. "It is pretty late." Whew, he thought.

Skye smiled again then looked back to his phone "Any luck on the codes?"

"It'll take way longer to perfect this stuff," Orel said. "Not sure I even have the skill yet, to be honest." He smiled, "You guys want to look around a bit?"
