Upon Vestia: Chapter Sixteen

"All those aliens, always hyping up how great they are, and it always turns out to be a lie," James said sagely. "I'm not like that though, I mean I've been known to punch minotaurs. I'd be a proper villain, I wouldn't lose."
He watched as the guy went back into the train, "Ooooh nooooo. They so should not have done that. It is ON!"

"That's certainly something to be grateful for," Asher said. "I only ever helped with first aid and fetching things for doctors back at the space station, so thankfully Heny was the first birth I witnessed first-hand." The videos he'd seen were informative and unpleasant, but they still didn't count.

"Good point. I really have no idea any more," James said. "This movie messed with my head, it's crazy."

Kay nodded/ [I'll take amputations and plasma burns any day thank you.]

Luka grinned. "It was a fun ride though."

"Well I'm not sure I'd go that far," Asher said. "Amputations sound exceedingly unpleasant. Still, there are plenty of things I'd rather do than go through that again."

"Pretty entertaining movie. One of the best ones about robots," James said happily. "What do you want to do now?"

Kay shrugged. [Generally those patients are less violent though.] He reasoned. [But yes, i'd sooner not have to go through another pregnancy and birth around here. Heny was quite enough thank you.]

Luka shrugged. "They still haven't caught that dumb butterfly thing? or do you think they caught it ages ago and just can't be bothered letting anyone know?" She rolled her eyes. "at least we have a legitimate excuse for not leaving the ship now. HAH."

"Less violence is nice for us," Asher agreed. "Perhaps I'm biased because I don't feel pain when Heny attacks, but I think I'd rather help new people into the world than I would help with amputation." Not that he had any experience with the latter, to be fair.

"Probably they caught it and forgot to tell us," James said, snorting, "why would they tell us?" He shook his head, "True, at least now Third can't judge us. Unless this was all a prank and he laughs at us for calling for it."

"if it's a prank i'm gonna punch someone." Luka huffed.

Asher wrinkled his nose. "That wasn't what I meant and you know it," he grumbled good naturedly.

"They'll so throw us in jail for that though," James pointed out. "They'll say it was an unprovoked violent attack because the butterfly thing was 'just a prank, bro!'."

Kay smirked. [Well all the more reason to encourage contraception and responsibility on board no?]

Luka snorted. "be worth it. "

"True. We shall educate this ship for our own mental well-being," Asher said. "Hopefully it'll work."

"Yeah, maybe so. Unless they, like, do life sentences for all crimes here. They seem like the types, right?"

"Life sentences, that's stupid." Luka shook her head. "Such an inefficient use of time, unless they set them to work but I bet they just let them sit there doing nothing for all eternity. Lazy."

Kay nodded. [We have to hope at least some of them listen to sense. If not, i'm sure I can obtain birthing videos.]

James snickered. "Would it be out of character for these guys? They love their bureaucracy." He drummed his fingers on the laptop keyboard, typing out random gibberish, "Heck, they don't need the workers anyway. They have magic!"

"good point" Luka agreed,

Dawn came into the library, looking around then heading over to the shelves.

Ethan had been in the capitol, but eventually he headed back to Vestia. He headed for the library, because he liked that place better than his room for hiding in. He didn't seem to be worrying much about the butterfly by now.
He went into the library, and after a moment spotted Dawn. "Hello," he said in awkward greeting.

Dawn looked to Ethan and smiled "Hello" She greeted then looked back to the shelves "That news about the butterfly is keeping us inside, so I came to find a book."

Ethan smiled oddly. "I think they might be exaggerating the risk a bit, but if you want a book, I get that." He went to his desk, and pulled out a Terran history book from underneath it. "You got regrets for the magic butterfly to prey on?" he asked.

Dawn looked down before nodding "Yes" She said and rubbed her arm, thinking about the slaves she hadn't tried very hard to help when they freed Rigel

Ethan nodded and leaned back in his office chair with a comfortable sigh. It was good to be back in the library again. "Good to know. I'll drag you away from it if you get mesmerized. If I get mesmerized, just stay out of the way or try to smash the butterfly."

Dawn glanced to Ethan and smiled a little at that "We can always say it was an accident to smash it."

"Can't control ourselves when we're under the effect of our most miserable memories, can we?" Ethan smirked. "If they didn't want someone to accidentally hurt the stupid thing, they should have kept it contained." Not that he specifically wanted to kill butterflies, but if they threw Kaylr at him, he wasn't going to play around either.

"Or saving a friend from it." Dawn added then nodded "Yeah, that should not be able to get free in the first place."

"I went to a butterfly garden once, they made you go through an airlock, and a guy patted you down to make sure the butterflies didn't stick to you when you left," Ethan said, flipping open his book and absently reading a page. "Either this butterfly is highly intelligent, or its keepers aren't." He looked up at Dawn again, "You have air magic, don't you?"

Dawn nodded at that question, thinking about what they kept the butterfly in to begin with. hm. "Yes, I can control the air"

"Well then, you should be able to keep it contained so it can't get us," Ethan said thoughtfully. He looked pleased with that idea.

Dawn shrugged a little "So long as it doesn't 'trap' me in it's regret power" She said then looked back to the shelves again. Hm, what was a good book?

"We'll handle it, one way or another." Ethan watched Dawn, "Need any recommendations?"

Dawn chuckled softly and looked over to Ethan "I am more used to studying than reading for fun, but I made myself a promise to not study today...at least before this butterfly thing, so now I am stuck on what to do. What would you recommend?"
