Upon Vestia: Chapter Sixteen

"All those aliens, always hyping up how great they are, and it always turns out to be a lie," James said sagely. "I'm not like that though, I mean I've been known to punch minotaurs. I'd be a proper villain, I wouldn't lose."
He watched as the guy went back into the train, "Ooooh nooooo. They so should not have done that. It is ON!"

"We'll handle it, one way or another." Ethan watched Dawn, "Need any recommendations?"

Dawn chuckled softly and looked over to Ethan "I am more used to studying than reading for fun, but I made myself a promise to not study today...at least before this butterfly thing, so now I am stuck on what to do. What would you recommend?"

Ethan smiled weirdly at Dawn and got up from his office chair. "Well when you do read or watch movies for fun, what do you usually enjoy?" he asked, coming over to join her.

Dawn thought about that for a bit before answering "Adventure stories."

"Hmm," Ethan considered that, pleased. He did like a challenge. "Historical adventures? Modern day? Futuristic?"

Dawn shrugged a little at that, she liked each of them. "I guess historical for today, the time period isn't really important to me."

Ethan nodded, looking around at the shelves and considering. Hmm, yes, historical was fun. He hadn't explored the genre too thoroughly, but he'd made a point of acquainting himself with as much of the library as he could, so he had a few ideas. He headed for the historical fiction section, and began looking through the books.
Oh yes, a Western, something from the early space age, and a medieval quest to find a sword. "Here's some stuff to consider," he told Dawn, handing them to her, "Of course there are lots of other options if those aren't right."

Dawn followed him, looking at the bio on the backs of the books in thought "This should be good" She said then shrugged and smiled at him "Thanks."

"Good, if they're not, ask me and I'll find you more," Ethan told Dawn, heading back toward his desk. He paused, noting that some books were out of order, muttered under his breath, and went to fix them. Children, bah!

Dawn followed him to check the books out so she could go to one of the lounges nearby to read.

(Lots of bean bag chairs and stuff in the library. It's very nice)

Dawn would see the beanbags and go over to sit on one of them to read the first book, the ancient one about a sword.

Ethan fidgeted with things on the shelves for a bit, then returned to his history book. He was reading about ancient China currently. After reading a few general world history books, he had realized it would be good to learn more about specific areas of Terra. Besides which, China involved a ton of reading, and the more time he spent reading, the less chance Kaylr had of sneaking back into his thoughts uninvited.

Ethan was pausing his reading to Google something about the Three Kingdoms period, when his computer suddenly beeped and shut down. He swore. Stupid computer.

Dawn looked up from the book, setting it down, it was a bit confusing anyway. She came over to him "What's wrong?"

"Computer just died." Ethan eyed the thing in annoyance. He wasn't an IT guy, why did this have to happen to computers in HIS domain? He prodded the power button with no success.

Dawn came over and looked at the thing then looked around "That is odd, maybe the power cord came undone?" Easiest solution first, right?

Ethan nodded, that sounded sensible. He crouched down and stuck his head under the desk, trying to unplug and replug every cable. "It had better not be a hardware problem," he grumbled. "I never learned to fix computers like this."

Dawn nodded and waited, flicking the power button though the computer did not come back on. She sighed "Well, internal problem it is, got any tools to take the casing off?"

Tala and Esk returned from the Capitol. Vestia gave them the standard spiel about the butterfly.

Tala snorted. "That is silly, Vestia."

Ethan made a 'hmm' noise. "Yeah, probably in the supply closet. Come on, let's have a look." He headed for the supply closet to look for tools.

Dawn followed him, curious what was in there

"A butterfly?" Esk just rolled his eyes. "I'm with Tala, that's fucking stupid." He came aboard anyway. Hey it was kinda nice to have one problem sorted and be away from floating dogs who asked endless questions.

Book glues, wash cloths, spare cables, barcode scanners, and a toolbox, as well as plenty of boxes of unidentifiable stuff. Ethan picked up the toolbox, which he hadn't really used before, and peered into it, before showing it to Dawn. "See what you need in there?"

"I'm just passing on the news, I don't review it for whether it's dumb or not," Vestia said cheerfully.

Tala snorted and ambled down the hall. "If a butterfly tries to make me regret things, I shall bring its attempts to a rapid end."

Esk snickered. "It won't stand a chance against your hoof i'm sure."

Dawn looked in the box and took it then looked at the other boxes "Yeah, but if the problem is hardware, we will need new boards." She said before turning to go tot he computer to start taking it apart

"Nothing like that in here I'm pretty sure," Ethan frowned. "Vestia, where can we find computer repair shit on this ship?"

"You could try the store rooms near the shuttle bay," Vestia suggested.

Ethan nodded and went to watch Dawn open up the computer.

Tala wiggled her ears. "I am sure its powers would be a fine energy boost as well for you."

"I dunno, butterflies are pretty tiny right? Probably one of those die as soon as I touch it situations." Esk shrugged. He didn't much like talking about his power.
