Upon Vestia: Chapter Ten

Matt pulled him into a tight hug. "it's okay..." He sounded more like he was trying to reassure himself.

Asher wasn't entirely certain how to act around Kay in this form yet, but he figured he'd try his hardest to be a good boyfriend and take this all in stride. "Can I get you something to sit on? We have some time before you need to be in the cell," he said.

As Kay was put into the brig and night fell while the moon rises the party went off without a hitch. Thaila would happily snoze as everyone enjoyed themselves.

Yet, across the galaxy sorrow would fill the stars, a battle lost the echos of a planet exploding would reach across the galaxy. Only a few would escape to tell the tale, while those vessels blessed with their creator gifts would feel a darken sorrow and pain within their hearts. The party room would have a flash of light as a double winged being collasped to the ground, the wings burned and smoking as they seemed to be sheilding something other then the owner's body.

Softly chirping of fear could be heard.

Kay looked amused, held up one hand and focused. He may not be able to hold a form for long, but it beat being stuck like this and unable to communicate properly.
The transformation reversed as he reverted back to his regular form with a horrible crunching and cracking of bone.
He exhaled deeply as his jaw clicked back into place, rolled his shoulders and tugged down his slightly torn up shirt. He'd selected fairly baggy garments that could withstand a lot more abuse than his usual attire.

He shot Asher a half smirk and picked up his tablet. [I can stay like this for about an hour, which is more than enough time. ] He winced and rummaged through the bag for painkillers. He was going to feel all this shifting in the morning that was for sure.

Starr had headed to the brig before the strange appearance to help get things set up and ready for the night.

Shane looked to the being as it appeared and made his way over to them "Hello?" He said cautiously, moving to see the winged creature and what had happened to it.

For a moment, Asher was afraid that his chronometer was wrong, and Kay was becoming a wolf already. Thankfully he quickly saw that the form Kay was turning into wasn't canine, but instead humanoid, and he relaxed.
"I didn't know you could do that," Asher said. "I suppose it makes sense though."
He looked toward the hallway, "Hopefully Starr gets here soon, since we don't know much about her plans."

The creator muted hearing heard a gargle of words, warily she lifted a wing with a painful hiss show her face, in her arms three young avian hatchlings look at shane with curiousity as she weakly said, "W-where...merith?" Her eyes look drained, exhausted from the combat she just escaped. Yet there was sorrow in her eyes, pain of not the body but of the soul.

Starr paused and looked around for a moment then headed for the brig again "Did either of you fee something?" She asked when she saw Kay and Asher together

Shane turned and looked to Merith, calling the keeper over then looking to the younglings "Are they alright?" He could tell she was hurt a lot

Kay nodded. [I'm a shapeshifter Asher, I can become a lot of things. I just don't enjoy doing it because it hurts. ] He dry swallowed the pain pills.

Kay nodded to Starr as she came in, writing. [Let's get this over and done with then.]

Her blurred eyes tried to focus on the three, two males and a female. Weakly she nodded, "C-couldnt save them...all..."

The three were obviously not that old, perhaps at max a week with all the fuzz over their body they started to chirp louder at being expose. So young they couldnt understand what of happened as one of the boys wobbily stood before plopping back on his bum.

Asher nodded, slightly embarrassed that he hadn't figured out how Kay's shifting worked sooner. He would smiled in greeting to Starr, and would help her to set up whatever she needed set up.

Matt rushed over too, but forced himself to keep back so as not to crowd the injured women. She looked like she needed medical help, but damnit, the medics were busy.
And more kids?

"Heeey?" He spoke softly, crouching down. "What happened?"

Armin frowned out at the stars, then at the woman. Where had she come from?

"She requires medical assistance, where are the medics?" He asked.

Shane glanced over to the hawk girls, watching them come forward to pick up and wrap the young in their wings gently as Shane handed them over then looked to the female again

Starr didn't have much to set up, it was mostly watching for her

The creator struggled to stand ignoring searing pain that filled her body, she kept a protective wing around the younglings but let the hawk girls take them. "The, Family attacked us...so many of them came...we couldn't stop them." She said softly, the reality settling in, "Avia...is gone.."

The little ones looked up curiously at the girls, their hands trying to grab at the wings while their clawed feet tried to gently grasp their arms.

Kay checked the time, looking to Asher. [Remember, no matter what happens, save everyone else okay?] He looked grim, glancing to Starr as if trying to decide something, then he pulled Asher into a kiss and made his way to the cell with the sedatives. He was perfectly able to inject himself, well, would be able to if his hands weren't shaking. Eugh. Frustrating. He did manage it though, handing the needle back to Asher. He just hoped the drugs would be strong enough to stop him doing any real damage, and that this cell would hold.

Shane frowned then growled a little "The family?" He looked over to Merith and called to the keeper again. He held a hand out to help her since she insisted on standing

Sky took two of the young while Moone took one, gently holding them and keeping them from getting hurt as they watched her

"Yes, they came unprovoked but wanted death.." Two of her wings hung limp, both obviously broken as the two were clearly burned. While she could heal they used some type of special weapon just for her kind. Tears started to well up, "Those..three were the only ones I was able to save..My energy was too drained to move more." She at this point was standing by sheer stubborness alone.

Asher nodded. "It'll be all right," he said softly, taking the needle to dispose of.

Starr looked away with a smile, glad those two had worked out whatever they had been arguing about. She sighed and watched him as they waited for moon rise.

Matt growled at mention of the family.
"Bastards." He spat. What had the avians ever done to them? Then again, what had most of this crew ever done to those psychos?
Rage rekindled in his heart, he really wished he'd had a chance to kill those assholes.

Mourn meanwhile was being pragmatic, searching through news reports on a tablet to see if there was anything yet.

Armin looked grim, bowing his head in respect.

Like for Luka across the galaxy the news was grim as stations were flooded with the information.

The girl silently stared at the one who held her, her eyes softly blinking as she let out this single hungry chirp sound, the two boys heard it and would soon start a choir for food.

"T-they are hungry." The creator said, with gritted teeth she used her free hand to attempt to create something for them to eat only to just have a puff of smoke appear, "Bastards.."

"What do the babies eat?" Shane asked gently, moving closer to her side.

Skye and Moone looked to the creator "Do they eat crushed insects? Because we just got a shipment in for another passenger" She said, motioning to Aramin

With the cell safely locked, Kay took a seat against one wall. He closed his eyes as he waited for the inevitable, and it wasn't long before the sun set and the moon rose.

He gasped as the moon came up, even though they couldn't see the moonlight here, he could feel it. He pitched forward onto his hands and knees as the change overcame him, bones cracking and snapping, grinding as they moved and distorted.
As before, he didn't scream, though his expression was one of intense agony. After a minute, it was over, and all trace of the person who had been there was gone. The wolf-like monster in that cell had nothing but rage in its eyes, and it fixed that gaze on Starr and Asher and threw itself at the bars.

She nodded yes, "Normally in a goo of sorts. Added fruits is okay too." She swayed a little at her attempt to use power.

Starr raised a hand to him at the begining of the transformation and watched though watching him in pain was hard enough. When she had the information she needed, she started packing her things away and glanced to Asher. "Can we sedate him anymore?"

Skye and Moone nodded and turned "Then we will take them to the galley to eat, you should sit down"

Armin joined the hawk girls. "If I may, I believe I may be able to help here. And it looks like you may need an extra set of hands." He bowed his head.

"No, he's already on the maximum safe dosage," Asher said wearily. "He may be up all night."
