Upon Vestia: Chapter TWENTY

Heny stood there and listened as the two spoke, her heart beat rising. She had visited him a couple of times but found it too painful with eveything going on.

James held still so Luka could put the clip in, but protested, "But Luka, this clip was part of your outfit! Will your look be complete without it?" Not that he minded wearing it, but what if Luka neeeeded it?

Asher was honestly a bit concerned about Danika's lack of interest in flying. It was kind of to be expected, what with two of her parents being flightless, one of her parents being scared of heights, and her own wing having been hurt, but even so, she should probably be practicing more. He'd have to talk to Starr about tutoring her at some point, maybe they could work something out.
For now he petted her reassuringly and tried to not show any sign of concern.

The chicks would play with their toys before one girl tried to start hoarding the toys and run off with them. Just like a real live chicken chick when they best treats are handed out. This of course lead to the boys chasing after her.

Danika leaned into the petting, happy to just stay on his shoulder since she couldn't fit in his pocket anymore. That hadn't helped the learning to fly part much either

Sky and Moone watched the chicks, making sure they wouldn't get hurt in their little chase game.

Luka laughed. "No no, it suits you." She smiled at James.

James looked around for a reflective surface to admire himself in, and eventually found a reflective patch of window to use. "I look lovely," he told Luka gravely, "Thank you."

"all I ask James, is that you give me some of your riches when you find your prince" Luka smiled at him. For whatever reason the image of James with a prince was just hilarious to her, probably because it was just so random and ridiculous.

Suddenly the flock of chicks ran between Luka and james, all three of them chirping loudly.

"Of course. I'll lavish upon you jewels and riches like you can't imagine, and invite you to all the balls," James said. "My prince will be a bit worried at first but he'll get used to it." He looked at the chicks and held still so he wouldn't bump into them as they scampered about.

Asher laughed softly. "Your uncle is very silly," he told Danika.

Luka squeaked a little at the sudden rushing toddler chicken people and stepped backwards as they ran through.

"Uncle silly" Danika parroted then looked to Luka and the chicks.

Skye shook one of the rattlers to call the chicks back over towards her side of the room, smiling at their antics.

"Man, those guys are hyper," James said. "When I was a kid, I was nothing like that, I was very calm and polite and composed." He nodded sagely.

"Very silly," Asher said, smiling at Danika, "Come on, let's see if there are any pretty fireworks yet." He carried her over to the window so they could look out. Hmm, last time Vestia's crew had watched fireworks during a full moon, a Creator had appeared carrying three baby avians... funny how they were in the same place again. Hopefully not with more incoming avians.

Danika looked to the window, standing on her hind legs to see all around "Fire works?"

"Colorful lights that sparkle in the sky," Asher explained. He looked around and spotted a burst of colorful sparkles in the sky. They couldn't hear the sound from in here, but they could see it fine. He pointed to it. "That's a firework."

They would come, though one had a rough landing as it tripped and summersaulted. Absently it got up and kept in going like nothing happened.

"Oh, pretty, pretty" Danika chirped, bouncing a little in place.

Her call drew the attention of Kerr and Vela and they climbed up to stand on a table to look

Skye chuckled and pet the three, giving them a small snack as she looked at the one that tripped to be sure he wasn't hurt. Yeah, a few tumbles were to be expected at this age.

There was a small nick on it arm but that was it. The girl dropped the toys to enjoy the snack happily.

Skye gently cleaned the nick but would leave it open since it was so small.

"Look at the fireworks" Moone said, sitting then pointing out the lights to the chicks.

"Oh James, you weren't a proper kid though." Luka told him, then realised how rude that sounded and covered her mouth. "Oh i'm sorry, I didn't mean that!" She fretted, eugh.

Asher went over to the other dragons so they could watch the fireworks together.

"I know what you meant," James said, looking more amused than insulted, "It's okay, I'm just trying to convince these kids that back in my day, children behaved themselves. You know, so that they'd want to live up to my good example and behave themselves too."

Asher tried to stifle his laughter as he listened in. "Somehow I don't think that's going to convince the kids to behave."

The three dragon babies were fascinated by the light show, since they couldn't hear the booms inside Vestia, which was a good thing. The booms would have scared the three babies, but the lights were very pretty.

Skye was trying hard not to laugh at James' logic there. It rarely worked like that

"I don't think any of us are good role models." Luka chuckled and looked up at the fireworks. Pretty.

"I dunno, Asher and Dawn might be good role models. They have work ethics and don't pick fights too often. The rest of us though? We're all terrible," James said. "You okay with being terrible, Moone? Like me?" he asked.

Moone giggled and looked to James "I'm still a kid, so I can't be a real role model, can I?"

"I guess not. You're exempt from judgement on this topic," James told Moone. "We may need to do some math here to see who actually qualifies as a role model."

Moone giggled again and looked back to the chicks to see if they were done with their snack or watching the fireworks.

Luka shrugged. "Anyone over the age of majority?" She suggested. "if you're legally an adult, you count."

"That works. Can we say androids are adults at twenty two so I don't qualify as a role model?" James asked.
