Upon Vestia: Chapter Five

"All right... right, we'd better get him to the med... the med bay," Asher said. "And... and do some tests to see what's needed."

Asher paused, then nodded. "Starr's permission would... would be required."

"Starr.. owner?" Mourn tilted his head. "Owned" He snorted. "But against slavery. Silly robot." He shrugged again. "Find owner, get permission. I can find computer. When you're ready, come find me." He smiled and patted Asher's arm. "If you survive the process, you will be free."

"You don't get much choice when you're programmed to... programmed to behave a certain way," he said, folding his arms defensively. "But thank you. If she agrees, I think I'll take you up on the offer."

Mourn looked satisfied. "Don't worry robot, we can cut those chains."

"Well I can't let you do that," the android said with a weary smile, "But if you can stop me from making pointless calculations for the remainder of my life, I'll be grateful." He turned to go check on Kay again.

Mourn nodded. "Do my best." And he took the bandages and went off to find Moone.

Kay pulled himself into sitting position and looked at Asher quizzically. What was that all about?

However you do seem very defensive right now, Sulon. Maybe there is something that could perhaps prove your innocence, you could show it now? However that would leave your brother in boiling water..."

"You are honestly going so low to black mailing?" She scoffed, "The cameras have the proof as simple as that love."

"Oh, but you went so low as to murder, because I don't believe your story. And not to mention those cameras were looping, showing you in there when you blatantly weren't. If blackmailing is what it takes, so be it. Quinn, go find Thalia. I'm sure we can work this all out together."

The black vulpine complied, floating off to fetch the other Keeper.

Thaila was busy tinking with some random parts Vestia let him have when Quinn found him, "Hey." He said clueless of what was going on.

Kay pulled himself into sitting position and looked at Asher quizzically. What was that all about?

"Just discussing robot things," Asher said, guessing what Kay was wondering about, "Apparently our cyborg... our cyborg friend thinks my brain is an interesting place. You look... look like you're starting to feel better," he added.

Kay nodded slowly and found the paper and pen again [Painkillers and sleep are amazing things. ] He still didn't feel great, but he felt a lot less like he was dying. He smiled a little at the remark about his brain, the cyborg was right.

"I'm glad you're beginning to... to feel like yourself again," Asher told Kay. "Will you be able to get up soon? Supposedly food really does help hangovers, although I haven't tried it myself." He laughed.

[You're lucky you can't get hangovers.] Kay still looked a bit queasy. [I think.. just toast. The idea of eating anything else makes me want to throw up again.] He winced and tried to get up, blinking a few times against the spots in his eyes. Right.. time to get up, and have a veeeery quiet very gentle morning. No medical emergencies, no crises, no kidnappings or attacks. One could hope right?

"One of Vestia's bots can send some toast over," Asher suggested, watching the other medic worriedly.

He managed to get to his feet and steadied himself on the edge of the bed. Was the floor supposed to move like that? Ew. He never thought it was possible to feel seasick on a spaceship.
He took a deep breath, hating to feel so vulnerable like this.

It was rather difficult to write AND cling to a bed for balance, so he abandoned the pen and paper. This whole communication barrier was getting pretty frustrating.

He glared at the floor, trying to scare it into behaving and keeping still and took a few wobbly steps. Okay, it was fine, he wasn't going to collapse as long as he took it slow and didn't move his head too much.

He gestured toward the door. He was going... to get toast damnit. And nothing was going to stop him. Well.. except the iv he was still attached to.
Argh.

The android detached the IV helpfully, held the door open, and otherwise stayed out of the way (although close enough that he could catch Kay if he started to fall). Kay's behavior earlier had suggested that he would rather avoid physical contact if possible, and Asher could respect that. Besides, he was obviously taking on this epic quest to the galley as a matter of pride, and who was Asher to stand in the way of such an important mission?

He was still going to worry though.

"Hey, Thalia..." Quinn said slowly, looking tired, worried and slightly angered, "Do you think you could come with me to Vanessa, Corvus and your sister? There's an important matter we need your... Opinion."

He blink and stood, "Okay, sure?" He said wondering what was up, "Lead the way.."

Quinn escorted him to Vanessa, who's sickly figure turned to look at him calmly. "I will keep it short. There is a spy for the Family on this ship, and since you two are Keepers yourselves, you two are prime suspects. Your sister even more so with what has recently happened, but she claims innocence. What about you?"

He threw his hands up, "I been on the run from the family since our home was destroyed, my mom died fighting them to protect us so no way in hell would I destroy her sacrifice by joining them." He said firmly, "Scan me if you want with the medic I will lower my guards so he can read my thoughts if need be."

"Oh." Vanessa replied devilishly cheerily, turning to Sulon, "Will you do as your brother, Sulon? Id love to see what happened from your mind."

Sulon gritted her teeth and shot a nasty look towards her brother, "Very well."

Vanessa noted the look and the sudden defensive maneuvers from the woman and a smile twitched I her lips. "How about we start right now?" The arcana around her thickened, "Prepare to lower your barriers..."

"I thought we were going to use the medic?" She said defensively, she knew how to lie to telepaths like them, but magical scanning she never delt with.

"We shouldn't bother them, they're busy enough as it is." Vanessa said, the air around her began to develop a blue hue. "I can handle it. We'll just take a little stroll in each of your heads together. Now, are we all ready? I'd like you to release some of your arcana energy and I will link it to my own, and we will use that to travel through memories."

Thaila took a deep breath as he did what was requested but sulon hesitated at first..

"Sulon?" Vanessa said sweetly, "We're waiting on you~"
