Upon Vestia: Chapter Twenty-Three

"You have a tablet at least, right?" Asher asked Dawn.

"I don't need your help dealing with the idiot janitor." Esk snapped.

Kay barely suppressed a smirk at that and kept walking. He'd get as far as he could, away from the medical facility, before dropping the animal and panting heavily. Damnit, he was NOT fit or particularly strong.

"Okay, sorry," Asher told Esk. He waved to Dawn, then followed Kay out and down the hall until Kay dropped the goat. "Sorry I can't help more. I would, but I don't think it would work well," he said. "Seriously, we can have Vestia get James to carry that."

Dawn looked back to Esk after the other two had left. "So, want to watch a movie or something?"

Esk frowned a little, considering that. "We got a projector or anything?" Because huddling close together to watch one screen was always awkward.

Kay caught his breath. Shaking his head. No point getting James to come all the way up here. And he was stubborn and bloody minded when it came to proving he could do things. He looked around, held up a hand indicating Asher wait, and went into a side room to get changed out of his clothing and shift into a stronger form.

He came back out as a Minotaur, with reddish brown fur. Short for a minotaur, but still pretty damn intimidating. He nodded to Asher and tucked his folded clothing under one arm, hefting the goat up into his arms.
Much better.

Asher had to take a few moments to get used to the fact that Kay was a minotaur now. It wasn't that he'd forgotten he could shift, it was just, you know, always a little odd to see your significant other suddenly look completely different.
Kind of awesome, though. Asher looked a bit admiring as he followed Kay to dispose of the goat.

Kay glanced to Asher, yep, damn right he could do this on his own. HAH.
It was pretty wierd to be this tall though. Hmm.

they made their way to the kitchens to hand the carcass off to a bot who could butcher it.

The bot wandered off with the carcass to who knew where.

"Now that's definitely a useful form," Asher said with a smile. Kay was so tall like this, wow. "The hooves must feel strange."

Kay nodded, reaching out for his tablet again. [This is rather surreal. The floors are surprisingly slippery.] He wrote slowly, struggling a little with his new form.

"I think I've noticed Tala wearing rubber treads on her hooves before, I guess you must be facing a common Minotaur problem," Asher said. "That tablet also looks incredibly small in your hands."

Kay's ears twitched, he nodded. [Can we leave the kitchen? The smell of everything is a little overwhelming.] How the heck did Tala cope with this?

"Oh right, I suppose that would be a problem," Asher nodded sympathetically. Yeah, new or heightened senses could be pretty hard to handle. "Lead the way, I can't smell anything so I won't be much use finding a less smelly place."

Kay did so, trying not to slide on the floor as he moved. Yeah, he wasn't going to stay like this long term, it was far too awkward.

He headed for his room, so he could turn back to his humanoid form, get dressed and relish in nice dulled senses and grippy feet.

Dawn looked to the camera to ask where a projector was they could use. He was right that it would be better

Asher followed along, a little concerned that Kay might fall. If Kay fell, he'd probably not hurt himself too badly, but still, Asher wouldn't be much help if he did, and that made him a little nervous. Much better for him to go back to humanoid form as soon as possible.

Vestia told Dawn where she could find a projector.

Esk watched Dawn for a few minutes, Asher's concerns were bugging him. "Asher thought you might be upset. You aren't are you?" He asked.

Kay slipped a few times but managed to catch himself. Eugh, this was like trying to ice skate.
But they made it back to Kay's room without anything catastrophic happening.

Dawn thanked Vestia then looked to Esk and shook her head "You survived" She said before leaving to get the projector. She would return with it and get it set up for them to watch on the ceiling, so he could stay laying down.

Whew. Back to safety. Asher was glad Kay seemed to have survived transporting goats without any major falls, at least. He'd take Kay's tablet if needed for the shift back.

Esk nodded. "That's what I said." Good, she was going to be sensible. He didn't want to have to rethink his opinion of her.

Kay set everything down, giving Asher the tablet and nodding. He hesitated, then focused and shrank painfully back to his humanoid form. He winced, shaking his head and stretching his joints before acknowledging he was actually totally naked. Oops. This was the problem with non magical shape changing clothing. He smiled coyly and started to get dressed.

Asher kind of looked away while Kay shifted back and got dressed. Not that seeing Kay naked was anything new for him, but it seemed a bit impolite to watch. Yeah, he had no idea, it wasn't like he had any idea about shapeshifting etiquette, so he just had to guess.

Dawn made a pallet when the projector was ready, giving him a tablet loaded with movies to pick from and laying down to look up at it too. "Alright, you get to pick, and this tablet can stay in here with you. Or rather, it stays in the recovery room. There was a whole pile of tablets, so I took one to be nothing but movies and games."

Kay got mostly dressed again and touched Asher lightly on the shoulder so he knew he could look. He looked amused.

Esk nodded, bemused by the apparent pile of tablets. This lot did seem to get through them pretty quick.
He browsed movies, he didn't know much about films to be honest, especially not the mostly terran ones. No musicals, that was a given. Nothing too sappy. Hmm...
He shook his head. "Does this have a play at random function?"

Asher looked at Kay again, smiling sheepishly. He offered the tablet back. "Must be a relief to not be a minotaur any more," he said.

Dawn nodded and chuckled "Yes, I made sure of it, you can even have it do a specific genre for the play at random." She got up to show him the random function and how he could choose which genre or choose from all.

Kay nodded. [Hooves are not very well designed for these sorts of floors, that's for certain.] He smiled softly. [Still, at least I know I can take that form now. It might be useful one day.]

"Anything you won't watch?" Esk asked, tensing a little as she got close. Damn he felt exposed without his long sleeves and gloves and everything. Eugh.

"Hooves look absolutely terrible for smooth floors," Asher agreed. "But the strength could certainly prove useful again." He smiled, "We're lucky to have shapeshifters on this ship, no doubt about it."

Dawn shrugged and went to sit back down on her pallet once he had figured it out "Not really, it's all interesting in one way or another."

Kay ducked his head, looking slightly embarrassed. [Unfortunately i'm not overly good at it.]

"Alright, then if this movie sucks, you don't get to complain." Esk told her flatly, setting the thing to play something at random.
