Satare Empire - Melanoc Lunar Colony

One of the central lunar colonies orbiting the vast, water world Satare.

A farming colony, what isn't walled farmland is dense forest and woodland.
There are 12 moons in the sky, though not all are visible at any one time and the enormous blue ball that is the planet.

Don't go out after dark, there are monsters in the woods.

Jarral tilted his head, then nodded to Danika and Vela. He had no real understanding of this form shifting thing, so wasn't really going to be much help in this discussion. "I have finished sorting the boxes." He told them.

Danika smiled and looked back to Vela. Vela shook her head and stood too. "Not yet." Vela said, heading to the kitchen to get a snack. Danika sighed and watched her go then shifted, going over to Jarral. "You did? That's good."

Jarral nodded. "It is very strange to leave so many useful things behind. Do you think they intended to return or simply could not carry everything?" He didn't ask about Vela, he figured it was none of his business anyway.

"I don't know, probably a little of both."Danika said with a shrug

Jarral still looked troubled, but he was unsure how to articulate what he wanted to talk to Danika about. He sort of trusted her judgement, but at the same time he was scared to admit what he wanted to admit.
He looked away and managed. "What... what happens if my Lord does not return?"

Danika frowned at that then reached over to touch his hand "Then you will stay with us until he does come for you." She said gently.

Jarral tensed at the contact, he doubted he'd ever get used to physical contact. Kevali just weren't tactile. He frowned deeply, pulling his arms around himself. "Sometimes... I feel like I should go home, shape space and see for myself what has happened but.. my Lord told me to remain in this place, to defy him would be blasphemy. " He lowered his head. "and yet still... I am tempted..." He sounded guilty.

Danika sighed and nodded. "I can understand wanting to go home, I want to go home too. But we were told to stay, so we have to stay."

Jarral nodded, that was the confirmation he needed. "Yes."

Danika smiled at him and nodded. "That's settled then." She said then glanced around. "What would you like to do today?"

Jarral frowned again. "I... do not know." He admitted. Spontaneity wasn't his strong point, he'd spent his whole life being told what to do. "is there no more work to be done?" He struggled with the idea of not having to work or be useful, just sitting around made him anxious.

Danika shrugged and looked around. "I don't know, we aren't really given anything to do."

"What do children do where you are from then?" Jarral asked, genuinely curious.

Danika shrugged a little "We were born on the ship we call home. We were the only babies at that time. I don't know what kids are supposed to do normally."

Jarral tried to wrap his head around that. "How long have you been here?" She wasn't a baby now, least, she didn't look like a baby. This was all pretty confusing though.

Danika shrugged a little "We were only here a little while before you came." She said, trying to think

(What month/day is it? They were born on March 6th, trying to work out their age now)

(I uh... I don't know omg. Uh... *looks at vestia thread* Late june?)

(Yeah, assuming we're syncing this thread to Vestia time-wise, that sounds right. They're a bit over three months old then? Omg)

Jarral looked even more confused. "You age differently." He reasoned.

Danika nodded and grinned "We hatched about three months ago, but we age fast the first months."

"I.. think I understand." Jarral nodded, wrapping his head around this. "Yet they do not find you jobs to do? " That he found odd. Rapid aging struck him as very useful, the sooner a child ceased to be dependent, the sooner they could be productive.

Danika shrugged again and glanced around "They haven't yet, but then, we are in an odd situation here."

Jarral mused that here, of anywhere, working was more useful. "I do not believe I understand."

Danika thought about it a minute before speaking again. "I think it's more that we only really have one adult and she isn't that interested in telling us what to do, Moone is still a kid herself too."

"we should find a task." Jarral decided. "Every member of a group should be useful."
