Planet Genesis -- The Capitol

She chuckled, "It is, trust me I been there." Softly her face faltered before returning back to normal. "anyway... i uh have no clue what else to ask." Thaila said sheepishly.

Ethan pulled a couple of books off the shelf to read the backs and flip through them briefly. "I can't say I know a lot about having magic, but it seems like something that has to be controlled really well. Nice that around here, people usually actually try to control it."

Dawn nodded and smiled. "Yeah, you have to control magic or it will control you." She agreed, pulling some other books down to look them over.

"Especially with the more dangerous magics, that could be very bad news for everyone," Ethan agreed. "Even if you have control of your magic, you can use it for evil, but at least you won't be killing people by accident." He picked out a couple of books and settled them comfortably on one arm so he could keep using the other one. "Your species has magic, doesn't it?"

"Yes, elemental magic."Dawn said and held a book out to him. "Is that a good adventure one?"

"You have elemental magic, sort of like the kevali?" Ethan looked at the book with interest. "I haven't read that one, the author is good though, usually writes less goofy stories than Kay and Luka prefer. Probably worth trying out."

"I can control air." Dawn answered and smiled, glad she had found a good book. "I may try to read it once you get it in the system. Oh yeah, I have some I need to bring back soon. Don't let me forget when we get back, please."

"What's that like?" Ethan asked, "Do you feel some sort of connection to the air or something? Have you and Matt compared notes on your powers?" He smiled oddly, "I'll be sure to add that book to the collection then. And I'll be sure to remind you. Nice to have someone on the ship who wants to return their books on time."

"I haven't really talked to Matt much" Dawn said with a shrug, looking at other books now. "It isn't really on time, I should have gotten them back a few days ago I think. I lost track of the days with all the cramming I have been doing lately, but I will get them back."

"You should discuss elemental magic together, then we can listen in and find out how your species are different," Ethan said. He thought it could be fascinating to find out about. "Compared to some of the others on Vestia, you're a pretty good library patron. Some of those people don't even think about returning the books, much less actually return them."

Dawn thought about that then shrugged "I guess I could try, though from what I know of them, they were all self-taught."

Ethan considered that. "I guess I can see how that would make a difference." He picked up another book to add to his stack. "Give me the one you got, I'll add it to the system. Next we need to head to the astrology section."

Dawn looked to the one she was holding then handed it over and chuckled softly "Yeah, it makes a difference. I'm a bit surprised they all survived with such opposing powers, but I'm glad they did" She said as she turned to head for the astrology section.

"Fire and water, things must have been pretty interesting at their house for a while," Ethan said drily. He followed her, keeping his eyes open for books to get. He already knew exactly which one he wanted though. "Did you always have your power, or did it manifest when you were older?"

"We have a weak version at birth, sometimes so weak that we don't know our element, then when we reach puberty, it grows and we have to start learning to control it." Dawn said softly.

Ethan nodded. "Magic is such fascinating stuff. It seems to be different for every race." He spotted The Science of Astrology and took it off the shelf to add to his stack of books. "There. The Professor will find this one invigorating, I'm sure."

Dawn shrugged and looked at the other books, pulling one off the shelf to page through it "Starr might like this one." She said then glanced to him "It does make sense that our powers would be different, since our biology is, the way we access magic and the genetic differences that make it so that we can only use it a certain way." She shrugged a little and handed him the book

Ethan took the book and added it to his stack, which was getting quite tall now. "Once I'm tired of Terran history, maybe I'll learn about magical species," he said. "We should buy these soon and bring them to Vestia, it'd be tricky to carry them all around the capitol."

"They can deliver them to Vestia for us" Dawn said and nodded, looking to the stack then chuckling "They can do that for anything you buy here it seems."

"Oh, well that makes things simpler," Ethan said. He hadn't thought of doing that, hmm. He headed for the front desk to buy the books, and requested the store to have them delivered to Vestia.

Dawn chuckled and looked at the books again, curious. She picked out one to buy for herself then came back over to Ethan once she was done "Alright, where to next?"

Ethan checked with his chronometer to make sure he wasn't late yet, and saw he still had a fair bit of time. "We could just explore the city for a while."

Dawn nodded and looked around once they left the bookstore "Let me know if you have to leave for your appointment, or rather when."

"About forty minutes," Ethan said, "It's not that far away either, so I'm not going to have to run." He looked around for something interesting to investigate.

Dawn nodded and motioned to what looked like an all in one type of store "Shall we browse there?" She asked, looking to Ethan again. It didn't seem very busy there, especially with so many still sleeping off the festival.

"Yes, let's take a look," Ethan said. He looked in the window curiously before heading in to have a look around. It was nice how quiet things were today.

Esk had no luck finding Acus, and now he was really feeling the walking. In too much pain to continue walking he'd slumped onto a bench and sat there, focusing on keeping his breathing steady.

Damnit, this was frustrating. He wasn't the sort of person who COULD take it easy, and much as he hate to admit it, he wanted to confirm the captain wasn't going to do anything stupid. He was pretty sure he wouldn't, but there was always the chance he was wrong.

At least it wasn't crowded, in his current state it was getting hard to resist the instinct to just grab a stranger to steal their energy to heal.

Dawn went in, looking around the place curiously. It kind of reminded her of those open air markets from her homeworld.
