Upon Vestia: Chapter Nineteen

Asher took the tablet and wrote, [Thanks for telling us. Tell us when they arrive, okay? ~Asher]
He sent the message, and looked at Kay again. What terrible timing for Web to show up. Darn.

Ethan smiled oddly. "Well if she complains, we can remind her that she DID invite us and you DID tell us we were unwanted. So you did your job well enough."

"I'd like a scone please!" Ellie said. "And is it okay to bring beer in here?"

Kay smiled weakly. <unexpected.> He signed.

Amity smiled and nodded. "People are extremely complicated." He complained. "im not entirely sure I understand how inviting someone you don't want to see is more polite than just not saying anything." He shrugged.

Hewitt laughed. "People are idiots."

"Do you require any help sir?" Amity asked.

Hewitt waved a hand dismissively. "There you go again, fretting.

"Well sir, it IS my job." Amity explained calmly.

Hewitt snickered and reached out a hand to the hologram. "Let's go gatecrash a party"

"I don't think you can gatecrash if you've been invited sir."

Hewitt snorted. "I can and will."

"Very unexpected," Asher agreed. "I wonder why he's here, hopefully he just felt a sudden urge to come visit." He handed over the tablet again in case Kay wanted to use it.

Ethan snorted. "People who have the time or funding to party are a very odd breed," he said, "A few of my owners loved parties and they were all horribly catty and confusing people. Social events are like minefields." He headed out with Amity and Hewitt.

"Yeah, and also, he doesn't blame you. At all. His exact words were 'quit the pity party and get over it. Shit happens, i'm fine.'" Shane said and chuckled, shaking his head at that. Esk was one of a kind.

Sawna looked to Ellie and tilted her head "Beer? What for?" She asked, though she got the scone for her

"We were wanting to have a party/get together for the crew" Moone said

Kay booted up the word processor so he could write [Just decided to visit after four years? Seems unlikely. ] He chewed his lip thoughtfully. [I suppose we'll find out soon enough.]

"Yes, that's why you throw a party, to show how much BETTER your event is than your rivals!" Hewitt explained. "It's all a contest."

"I don't believe that's the case in this situation." Amity began.

Hewitt waved a hand dismissively as he let Amity guide him. "Of course it is."

Luka frowned. "IS he fine though?" She didn't trust that, she didn't trust Esk really.

Asher sighed. "Yeah, I guess that does sound like wishful thinking." He hugged Kay a bit. "At least it sounds like we don't have to go running out to the city about this."

Ethan nodded. "It's a chance to display wealth and status, and to show how more people will come to your parties than anyone else's in your social circle. Although a cafe is an unusual venue for such an event."

"Thanks!" Ellie said, taking her scone and tossing some change in the tip jar. "Yeah, we're partying here before the festival tonight, because here is safe and the people we like are more likely to attend. I want beer because I like beer, Moone doesn't get any."

"See, he gets it" Hewitt sounded smug.

Amity rolled his eyes. "Of course sir."

They headed for the cafe.

Shane shrugged "He's not fully well, but he is better' He said "Besides, you know Esk, he'd rather hide out here than be in a hospital, or anywhere public like that."

Sawna chuckled then shook her head "I suppose, just don't bring too many, I don't want everyone drunk"

Ellie smiled at Sawna. "No getting blackout drunk, got it. I'll be right back!" She headed for the door and almost ran into Hewitt. "Shi-I mean, oh hi!"

Ethan snickered.

Hewitt smirked at Ellie. Oh look, the idiot terran who didn't want us here.

Amity looked apologetic. "They wanted to come just to spite you, I apologize, I couldn't talk them out of it."

Luka nodded. "Well uh... thanks? I'm sure i'll... see him at some point." Eugh.

"Just to spite me? Of course they did." Ellie glared at Hewitt's thoughts and tried to block them out. "Welcome to the party, guys!" She said in a fine imitation of happiness, and tried to give Hewitt a hug without stabbing herself on his leaves.

Hewitt looked pleased, but was a bit uncomfortable with the sudden hugging. His leaves ruffled and he tried to pull away from her.
She'd probably get a few insects crawling over her, having disturbed the nest of ants and other bugs that lived in his leaves.

Ellie let him go after a couple of very short moments. Yeah, spite hugs weren't something she really wanted to prolong. Especially not with bugs crawling onto her. "You want these bugs back?" She asked Hewitt, eyeing one on her sleeve. She wasn't super freaked out by them, she was a farmer after all.

Ethan very casually edged away from her. No spite hugs for him, please and thank-you.

Shane nodded then shrugged "If he doesn't hide away again, we likely will. I guess I'll see you around later" He said, taking a step back to leave her

Sawna and Moone were at the counter, trying not to laugh at the scene the others made

Hewitt chuckled lightly. "Oh no, you can keep them." He smirked. "But be careful, they bite."

"Sir..." Amity sounded weary.

"yes yes, don't provoke the other guests." The Professor rolled his eyes and extended a hand so the insects could crawl back onto him.

"Do you require assistance?" Amity asked Sawna.

Armin came in, bowing his head politely to the assembled.

Luka nodded. "I'll see you later Shane."

Ellie looked a bit relieved to have the insects off her. She bet Hewitt was just joking about them biting, but still, she didn't want to have bugs living on her, okay?

Ethan also looked relieved, since Ellie seemed to be distracted now. Good, no hugs for him. He slipped past her into the cafe and found himself somewhere to sit.

Ellie waved to Armin and then went to go get beers.

Monne smiled and waved to Armin and went over to him "Hi Armin, how have you been?"

Shane left to find the others and let them know that Esk was coming along with another brother.

"I am well, thank you my friend." Armin joined Moone, bowing his head politely. "The new workspace is working well, I have a lot more space to tackle multiple projects simultaneously, and no Trygve to tell me it's not profitable." He laughed.

Hewitt went to examine the various things at the counter, he didn't eat, but he was curious about what the heck these things were.

Amity smiled serenely and stood to one side, watching and waiting just in case someone wanted help.

James and Tala came in, Tala with one arm thrown companionably over James' shoulders. "Friends," she declared, "We have arrived!"

James rolled his eyes and pulled himself free to look around. "Man, I didn't expect this gathering to get so big," he said. He smiled at Moone, "Hey kid, good to see you again."

Amity smiled broadly. "Welcome." He told Tala and James brightly.

Armin bowed his head to them both.

Hewitt found somewhere to sit down and relax.

Moone smiled, glad so many had come just to be together. "Hi James, Tala." She said then looked back to Armin "I'm glad you like your new store."

Sawna was at the counter to get anyone snacks or drinks if they wanted any.

"Yeah, medical school is good" Dawn said then shrugged, starting up the ramp

Tala sniffed happily at the air and wandered over to Hewitt. "You smell most satisfactory," she informed him.

Ethan looked around the room a bit uncertainly. Why had he decided to come in here again? Annoying Ellie wasn't that good an idea, not when there was so much noise and so many people all of a sudden. He focused on staying calm. This was fine. Really.

James went to find a table and looked around delightedly. This was fun, seeing so many people here at once.

Ellie came back with beers.

Hewitt looked up at Tala suspiciously. "If that means you intend to try to eat me, I ask you to please restrain the urge." He told her dryly.

Armin nodded. "thank you my friend. " he paused. "Where is your sister today?" He asked curiously.

Esk nodded. "I suppose. Never been." He smirked.

Matt raced ahead up the ramp "Hey Vestia! We're back!" He called.

Web followed cautiously, looking up at the enormous ship apprehensively. She was quite er... massive, and quite a bit more so than any other ship he'd ever seen.

"I shall not consume you, that would be most uncouth," Tala said with an ear wiggle. "I simply approve of your scent."

"Hello guys!" Vestia said happily. She turned a camera to Web and translated to Satare, not knowing he had a translating device already, <<Welcome aboard.>>

Hewitt snickered. "Uncouth? Well it hasn't stopped some I assure you."

Web looked a little confused as to where the noise was coming from until Matt pointed to the camera.

Web smiled politely up at the camera and bowed his head. <<My thanks. I'm most relieved to be here.>> Yeah the hospital room hadn't been greatly appealing as a place to be stuck long term.

"Where is everyone?" Matt asked.

Esk grumbled. "Who cares?"

Moone frowned and glanced around then facepalmed "She must still be at the Artuvian festival. I gotta go get her" She said then ran off to the door, heading for the ramp quickly.

Shane stepped to the side to let Moone past then came in and went over to Ellie "Hello everyone, just a bit of news, Esk will be back on Vestia soon"
