The Guild Capitol: Chapter Two

"Now we can find something for kids." Dawn said and moved to look around the place.

Matt made "awwwww" noises at Kay.

Kay glowered at him.

"Totally adorable. Oh man, you're gonna teach her the glare if you keep doing that. She'll think it's the way you just look at people." Matt chuckled. "Wait.. that is mostly how you look at people."

Kay's eyes narrowed.

"okay okay. I'll stop teasing you." Matt laughed and bent down so he could be eye to eye with the baby dragon. "Hey little one, so.. your daddy's totally cranky but don't worry about it, under all the glares he's a sweetie really. Trust me. You might have to dig a bit, there's a lot of mean to get through."

Kay rolled his eyes.

"So what are they gonna call you huh?" Matt continued, finding Kay's annoyance rather amusing.

The baby looked to Matt as he spoke, chirping softly as she listened. She couldn't understand him, but she knew he was talking to her now.

Asher smiled softly. "She knows he's a good guy, that's why she likes him." He looked at the baby, "How is she going to pick her name? Can you tell them to her, Kay?" He assumed she'd like them best if Kay told her them telepathically. Was that even how telepathy worked? He didn't know. Hmm.

Mandeep stiffened slightly as the baby drake was brought closer, suddenly looking a bit worried, "Oh... I don't know if I should..."

Kay shrugged. He could try? The others had chirped right?

Little one, you need a name. She couldn't understand him but he tried his best to convey some sort of context for that.

Matt straightened up. "What were the options again?"

Asher frowned at Mandeep's worry. Hmm.
"Danika, Opal, Eira, Inanda or Nera," he said helpfully for Matt.

Starr smiled at him "His scales are hard, it is safe and they do not bite." She said gently "He is curious about everything right now. I can keep holding him though."

Kay repeated that list telepathically to the dragon, to see if she'd react.

(Somebody roll a die!)

The baby chirped at Danika then again at Nera when Kay gave her the list

Kay smiled softly. [Danika Nera, or Nera Danika?] He wrote carefully, trying to balance tablet and dragon.

"Nera's a pretty name." Matt nodded. "Hexenfolke right?"

Kay nodded.

She chirped at the first one then tilted her head at the second as if it confused her that the names could be reversed.

Kay smiled softly. Danika Nera then. He told her.

Asher smiled softly at the baby's confusion. "Does that mean she prefers the first one?" He asked. "Who knew naming dragons was so complicated?"

"Names are hard." Matt decided. Eugh, he was not looking forward to that either.

Danika chirped again, happy with the name he gave her. She rubbed her head against his hand again.

Kay smiled and tapped the screen. [Danika Nera]

"Well awesome. Welcome to the family Danika." Matt grinned. "I'm uncle Matt and I am gonna teach you SOOO much awesome stuff."

Kay shook his head and shot Matt a warning look.

Matt chuckled. "No faith at all. "

I know you Matt, you're the worst influence possible.

"Oh you wound me brother. I'm an excellent influence. I bring FUN."

Asher eyed Matt suspiciously. Oh boy, he wasn't all that into the idea of Danika being turned into a delinquent by Matt. He could just imagine how dangerous that would be for a magic-using dragon.
Then again, escape skills would be good for her to have...

Danika didn't care about all the words she didn't know, holding Kay's thumb and watching the others with interest before looking to Kay and chirping, sending the 'hunger' thought to him.

Kay nodded and looked to Starr. I think she's hungry. It was strange, he wasn't overly used to this sort of telepathic conversation.

Matt grinned at Asher and sidled over as Kay went to Starr to get the food.

"So, are you absolutely terrified of sudden fatherhood or are you cool with all this?" He asked quietly.

Starr chuckled and looked to Kay "We will need to sit down at a table, if these two see the food, they will want some too." She said in warning, glancing around them back to Mandeep "Let's find a table. "

Is food permitted in here? Kay looked around worriedly for a sign.

Asher smiled a bit at Matt. "I'm not even sure if I'll be any sort of father figure to her," he said, "She imprinted on Kay and Starr, so Starr is sort of her mother." He glanced over at Kay and Danika, "I'm not opposed to helping to raise her at all though. She's wonderful."
