Asher nodded sadly. {We'll figure that out later, don't worry about it for now. First we'll try to help you.} He reached out hesitantly, not sure if Mourn would find physical contact comforting or not.

Mourn closed his good eye, the way his optic continually clicked and whirred was annoying as all hell, he couldn't tune it out. He tried to cover his ears with his hands but it wasn't overly effective. the bulk of the implant in his ear got in the way on one side and his robotic arm, though stronger than it had ever been, was still without any tactile sensation and he jerked away from the claws before they could stab him in the face. Damnit.

He didn't cringe away from Asher's touch though, he just looked miserable, fur all on end, tail swishing.

Asher patted Mourn's shoulder gently, then paused to write to James [Get him some earplugs?]

James nodded and headed off to do that. A small, naggy part of his mind was worrying about how all this would effect Ethan's being freed, but for the moment he focused on Mourn.

Mourn kept his arms over his head, his eye tightly shut, shuddering.

James returned with some earplugs, opening the door as quietly as he could and coming over.

Asher lightly tapped Mourn's shoulder to get his attention.

Nutrix bobbed her head once in affirmation, falling silent as requested and ready to follow to Mourn's location.

Kay would get the directions from Vestia and then lead Nutrix that way. [Can you try to warn them we're coming, use morse or something.] Yeah vestia's voice suddenly coming out of the walls was likely to just cause more panic.

Mourn shifted slightly so his one bright blue eye peered out through the fur of his arm. He whimpered and winced, his own voice was freaking him out.

"Will do," Vestia said.

{James has some earplugs you can try,} Asher told Mourn. {They won't take away all the sound, but they should muffle it. They'll be loud to put in though.}

Vestia joined the conversation at this point, ---An anamcara who says they can help is coming to see you, and Kay is coming too.---

Asher nodded gratefully to the ship.

Mourn blinked, nodding slowly and very carefully uncurling. His optic was annoying him a lot. He reached up, twisted it and yanked the lens part out, which stopped the whirring and clicking noise at least, but left him without any vision on that side. The implant it clipped into sealed shut like the shutter on a camera with a soft final click.
He dropped the lens into his coverall pocket and reached for the earplugs.

Kay would lead the anamcara to where Mourn, James and Asher were and eased the door open very carefully, knocking seemed like the worst possible idea right now.

James handed Mourn the earplugs, then looked over at the door and waved as the newcomers arrived.

Asher looked up at them and smiled slightly.

Mourn tried to ram the earplugs into his ears. He got one in, but the other was a lot harder because of the coclear implant in the way. eugh.

Kay nodded to Mourn.

{Can I help?} Asher tried to take the other earplug for the poor guy. It'd probably be easier for someone else to put in.

Nutrix bowed when she wandered in. Another waved of her hand and the yellow ribbon of light formed into words yet again. [Greetings, I am Caretaker and Master Healer Nutrix. Mister Rusty has informed me of the situation and I am here to help any way I can.]

Mourn's eye narrowed and he hissed, ears flattened.

Kay frowned. [Mourn, she means you no harm. She thinks she can help]

Mourn glared. "No... sent.. by Canid." He struggled with the words, hearing his own voice was distressing and bizarre.

Kay winced. Yeah, maybe he should have mentioned that Mourn really hated Canid, but it hadn't seemed relevant at the time.

Nutrix tried to look reassuring as the yellow ribbon twisted and curled again. [Need not worry; I have little connection with Mister Rusty. The only relationship we had is that he had warned the Healers of your predicament. I otherwise talk to him or converse with him very little. I mean no harm, felid. I can help you.]

Asher didn't try to insert the earplug for the moment. Couldn't really do that when Mourn was hissing and furious. He didn't have the pad of paper at the moment so he didn't try to say anything to anyone.
James wrote, [She's okay, Mourn, give her a chance to talk.]

Mourn stopped hissing but he glared at the woman and his ears remained flattened, his tail swishing threateningly.

Kay tried to look reassuring. [We won't let anyone hurt you Mourn, You trust Asher and James not to let you come to harm yes?]

Mourn nodded slowly.

[Thank you.] Nutrix smiled gently, her legs floating upward as she shifted into a sitting position, yet still hovered in the air. [Now, before we begin, does anyone have any questions we'd like to start with?]

Asher confiscated James' pad of paper, [I'd like to try and put in this earplug before we discuss things.] He looked to Mourn for his okay on this plan.

Mourn looked annoyed and wary, but he tilted his head so Asher could try. He DID trust the robots.

Asher tried to insert the earplug, which really was pretty difficult to put in. Hopefully he succeeded though, his hands were very steady.

It was hard to do but he'd eventually get the stupid thing in. It muffled sound a little, but there was still too much noise for Mourn's poor mind to handle.
He pulled himself into sitting position and hugged his knees, staring at the Anamcara warily with his one eye.

Asher patted Mourn's shoulder comfortingly, then looked to the anamcara. [You think you can help?] he wrote on the notepad.

Nutrix bowed slightly. [I believe I can, yes. I mean you no harm, only good.]

"Make... stop..." Mourn's voice shook.

[We can do that.] Nutrix had a gentle smile on her face. [If you're familiar with how many empires use cell death to dispose of cancer cells in the body, we are willing to offer a similar treatment -- this will destroy the tissue in your eardrums to render you not to hear. Normally I'd suggest the idea of crippling your own body to be unethical, but it is apparent to me that your own mental state is in greater need of care.]

Kay flinched, but nodded. Years of medical training and an oath to do no harm meant he couldn't do this, but he also wasn't about to stop anyone from doing it. It was Mourn's body, and much as he refused to let anyone else force him to speak, it wasn't fair to force Mourn to hear if it brought him this much mental anguish.

Mourn tilted his head. He looked uncertain. He went to talk again, thought better of it and grabbed for the paper and pen.

[Will it involve doctors?]

[Mourn is not overly fond of medical procedures, what would this procedure entail?] Kay explained.

Mourn nodded, he wanted to know every single detail.
