Upon Vestia: Chapter Fourteen

Kay rubbed his temples and shook his head. [We better make sure those things are actually locked up this time, clearly Vanessa and Merith seem to think they're completely tame but i'm not convinced and would sooner not take that risk. We've had too many mistakes like that recently.]

Asher nodded and headed after Vanessa.

Kay followed Asher.

Esk stood in a doorway with a cup of coffee and watched this weird procession with a faint smirk on his face. Yeah this was bizarre.

Asher smiled brightly at Esk. "Hello again," he said.

Vestia lead the group down to her brig, and opened one of her biggest cells for the animals. It really was pretty large, it was one of the ones where they'd stored the slavers, and it was really intended as a place for groups of dissenters to be tossed while the cooled down. Pretty darn good for housing weird animals.

Esk kinda shrugged and stayed where he was, sipping his drink as they moved past.

Kay ignored his brother completely.

He kept back when they reached the brig, not really wanting to end up catching the attention of Merith's "pet" again. Once was quite enough thank you. Also he wasn't overly fond of this place anyway, it was somewhere he associated with pain and misery. Not fun.

Vanessa closed the door behind them as she and the two animals entered the cell, scratching a bit more until the boar snorted in satisfaction. She slipped through the bars like liquid and looked at the medics. "We are satisfied, yes?"

"That does a lot for my peace of mind," Asher said with a small smile. "Thank you. Now, with that out of the way, what can we do for you?"

Kay nodded grimly and turned to head out, expecting them to follow. The less time he had to spend in the brig the happier he'd be.
[Most everyone is still out touring the city, Esk, Tala, Skye and the chicks are here but on the whole the ship should be pretty quiet. If you want to take some time to yourself, we can handle people's questions until you feel ready to do so. Otherwise... well, welcome back.] He tried to smile but it just looked awkward.

"I think... I just need something to do to get it off mind mind." Vanessa said quietly, shaking her head and repeating her words, "That idiot..."

Asher nodded. "We know the feeling. Want to visit the holodeck for a bit? Or can you shapeshift so you won't be recognized in the city?"

A small group of Swarm's insects arrived at Vestia's ramp, buzzing excitedly amongst themselves. They spelled out a single word for Vestia --Medics--

"What do you need them for?" Vestia asked, puzzled, "Where do you need them?"

--here?-- they couldn't write words that easily with so few of them.

"Okay." Through the speaker where the medics were, she said, "Can you medics go to the main airlock? Swarm wants you there."

Asher looked worried at that. "Okay, we're on our way."

Kay frowned and hurried that direction.

Swarm seemed delighted at this and did a little loop the loop for Vestia.

"It must not be too bad, Swarm is doing loop-the-loops," Vestia told Asher and Kay.

Kay looked confused. Swarm was weird, but this was particularly odd.
He headed for the ramp and tilted his head at the fragment of the Swarm.
Swarm surged up the ramp so they were inside and told Kay

"Robot liberation league, Mourn is bringing him here to speak to you. Trying to convince guild to make Androids tier 3."

Kay frowned and wrote that down for Asher.

Asher read that nervously. "Oh. This should be interesting." He tried to look calm.

Kay chewed his lip and gently touched Asher's arm reassuringly. [it's progress at least. ]

Asher nodded gratefully. "Can't make progress unless you take a few risks," he said with a weak smile. "I'm sure it'll be fine."

Starr would come back to Vestia with Cassie and Sara, looking around as she landed then going to Asher and Kay.

The swarm again reintegrated, chittering and buzzing excitedly as their memories merged.

Kay nodded his head in greeting to Starr and waited anxiously on the ramp for the others. They could be told about Vanessa later he decided, give her a few hours to get her head together before she was bombarded with people.

[I hope so.] He told Asher.

The others arrived before too long, Ethan staying near James and giving him warning looks whenever it looked like he was about to speak. James gave Ethan an annoyed look, then ran to Asher. "Hey bro! Sorry, we kinda made a mess for you. Hope you don't mind! Love ya!"
He tried to vanish into the ship before Asher could notice his sudden lack of a badge.

Asher frowned. "What did you do, James?" He asked.

"Nothing! I just made you a friend, I swear!" James tried to vanish again.

Ethan had somehow already disappeared. How did he do that?

Moone looked to Asher then back at the ground as they came in. She wasn't sure what to say or do at the moment.

Sawna moved back to one side, out of the way but able to watch and hear

Esk had wandered out to watch this latest drama unfold from the safety of a doorway. Of course they couldn't JUST have a tour right?

Swarm fully reintegrated and swept aboard the ship.

Armin was limping a little from all this walking. Too much running around today had caused his old injury to flare up. Oh well.
He bowed his head politely to everyone and then put out a hand to Moone. "Do not feel guilty little one, there is no harm done. Shall we check on your sister and the chicks?"

Mourn dragged the poor Drakkan Android up to Asher, finally let go of his arm and declared "Robot medic!"

Luka shook her head as James ran off and followed him. She didn't have anything to add to this political nonsense.

Matt shook his head and came aboard. "yeah sorry guys, we kinda.. made a mess. But it's okay, this guy seems on the level, he's some sort of freedom fighter. Play nice!" He grinned, patted Asher on the shoulder and waved to Esk. "What the hell happened to your shoes?"

Esk's eyes narrowed and he disappeared back into the room.

Matt laughed and followed him.

Moone looked to Armin and took his hand to go with him. She remained silent though as they left the room together

Poor spring was dragged in by his actual hand (the others had disappeared, retreating into the gem on his back), and when he was finally let go he looked around, nervous and bewildered.
