Upon Vestia: Chapter Thirteen

"Probably," Asher said. "That's the consolation prize."

Vestia would notify Kay and Asher to come check on the boy, quickly explaining about where the heck the boy had come from.

Asher was had been brushing glitter specks off himself, so he immediately headed for the med bay.

Kay headed for themedical bay, frowning deeply. Another creator? Great.

The Swarm was intrigued by this, pooling into their humanoid form and following Starr and the Creator curiously.

Still, the boy did not stir as he was set down on the bed. Nothing wrong appeared with him physically, he just seemed knocked out. His chest calmly rose and fell with his breath, the deep intakes beginning to shorten, as if he would wake soon...

The Creator stood right next to the bed, her eyes narrowed. Her hands twitched as if she were ready to strike at any moment...

Starr watched calmly though she was ready to do what she could to help if it came to that. She returned to her star dragon form and watched the boy, curious about him. "You said you know him, who is he?" She asked, wondering about his name if he had one

"He is another of my kind. A Creator, like me." She explained, hesitating for a moment with a blink. "He does not have a name, like myself and my Other. If you are wondering what his creations are, he and his Other had worked together to create the techno-magi."

She suddenly looked concerned, "However..."

Starr looked to her, concerned "Techno-magi? They have been in hiding for a while."

[However what?] Kay had been working on figuring out what was going on with the boy, but magical beings, who the heck knew?
[It'd be useful for you to explain everything, before he wakes up. So please, talk.] He looked irritated.

Asher arrived at about that point, fairly up to date with the situation thanks to Vestia. He'd let Kay check on the boy, and being Kay anything he needed. And listen in.

The Creator sighed, "He is... how to describe it... The, er, dark Other of their pair. You see, each Creator is matched to a pair, such as myself and the Creator of the Keepers. However each pair is made up of both a 'light,' Other and a 'dark,' other. I am considered the Light Other to my pairing, and this boy you see in front of you is the Dark Other to his.

"Don't be alarmed, most of us tend not to meddle with affairs not our own, and since he and his Other have the mind of children, at most we should worry about heartless mischief and... unsavory language." She looked disgruntled, "Or so I hope."

Kay looked unimpressed. [Oh great, just hormonal teenaged tantrums from entities with god-like power. Sounds wonderful. ] He shook his head, exhaling deeply. [Please tell me you can deal with him if he becomes aggressive. In the meantime, it may be worth keeping him well away from the rest of the crew. The last thing we need is a creator in a bad mood.] He waited for the boy to wake, moving a little closer to Asher just in case. He was starting to think that maybe taking in every stray they found wasn't such a great idea.
[What was he doing in the middle of space anyway?]

"Starr says she found runic chains among the debris..." The Creator hesitated, looking back down at the unconscious pre-teen, "It is likely he had come into contact with the Family..."

The boy actually began to stir, and immediately she tensed again.

[So the family have chains to bind their own gods? And weapons they can hurt you with too. Not very reassuring is it?] And not a great testament to these creator's godhood in his opinion. [Why are you so tense? ] He looked suspicious. The woman's behaviour was not the behaviour of one who thought the kid lying there was no threat, quite the opposite in fact. [What aren't you telling us?]

"Even a Creator who has the mind of a child can still be dangerous." She said bluntly, "I do not think he will be overly aggressive, but I will not take the chance of lowering my guard."

She then looked annoyed at his words, "Well, 'tis what happens when we allow species to advance in technology. Would you rather us keep you under our thumb?"

"Or, or, you could not make your creations immortal so that they don't have the lifespan to create such things." A youthful, aggravated voice emitted from the bed and the two Creators angrily stared each other down. The room's atmosphere seemed to thicken.

Kay tilted his head at the boy. [I hate to say it, but he makes a sound point. Immortality and only one clear weakness is a pretty major design flaw. Of course, simply not creating people in the first place would be the ideal solution.] He watched the boy warily though, concerned by the female creator's worry. [But arguing isn't going to help right now. ] He turned his attention to his patient, the young man. [Are you alright? We found you floating in the vacuum of space. What happened?] He tried very hard, but bedside manner was NOT Kay's strong point.

Starr watched the boy, waiting for him to wake. She held her wings close to her back, her talons curled against the flooring as she tensed. "Immortality is a tricky thing, not many can handle that responsibility well."

"Alright? Alright?" The youthful Creator asked, turning towards Kay and narrowing his eyes dangerously, "No, actually. I'm not alright. I'm actually pretty pissed that my kin," he off-handedly waved towards the elder female, "Can't control her own Other. And now there are creations running around, that should only be mortal like the rest of you, with the power to topple the rightful order of things."

"You should hush." The elder Creator said warily, "They do not take kindly to the idea of gods here."

"And you're following that?" He bursts out in pitied laughter, "We both know we could erase this place from the very fabric of time itself if we wanted."

Kay tensed. [So she's right in assuming the Family got to you? If it's any consolation, they got to her as well. Hopefully they'll get to their other creator and do a better job with him. Or he'll wipe them out. Either way, wouldn't that be nice? Bickering about what's done won't change it, they screwed up and the entire universe has paid a heavy cost. It would seem we might actually be on the same side, we want the family and their insane quest for godhood stopped. Don't you?] He ignored the bragging, yeah yeah kid, not gonna stroke your ego.

"I would." The boy mumbled, still glaring at the other Creator in the room. "They need to be put in their place..."

Kay nodded. [Exactly what we believe. We can continue to blame her till we're exhausted, it won't fix it. But maybe if we all work together we can stop them. ]

Swarm pooled into their humanoid form, fascinated by this new entity. "Two entities of such power, surely the Family would have no chance against such power." "Oh yes, could definitely put them in their place."

Kay shot Swarm a glare to shut up.

Swarm just looked serenely back at Kay.

"There are good ones, the bad ones are perversions of what she tried to make." Starr said, looking at the young creator.

"Usually they wouldn't," the male Creator agreed, smirking at Kay's obvious agitation, "But unfortunately somehow they managed to create anti-magic runes, and they completely cover every inch possible on the chains. It was infuriating, but they didn't manage to bolt me down completely."

He rolled his eyes, "Ah, yes. And how many Avians now have to suffer in their minds for her flawed decision on making them all connected to their homeworld? How many battle with those negative emotions and pain because of it? That emptiness and void? Truly, such a terrible price to put on a creation, wouldn't you think?" He stared at the other Creator, who seemed to have lost face and cast her gaze to the floor while gritting her teeth.

Starr, you didn't happen to pick up some of those chains did you? That kind of magic might be useful at a later date. Kay spoke to Starr telepathically.

To the boy creator he wrote [Yes yes, we know, she screwed up.. a lot, multiple times. Won't fix it. If the Family aren't stopped, Avia won't be the only world to suffer such an awful fate. ]

"They failed to restrain you, as they failed to kill her. But mere mortals cannot stand against them, not alone. " Swarm bowed their head.

Kay frowned. [Why did they come after you? Because of what you are or did you defy their insane plans?]

"Because of what I am." He answered simply, and yet even that sounded haughty. "The Creators are magic powerhouses. Not only that, our very existence of freedom defy their petty idea of being gods themselves. If you can chain a god, you've overcome a god, and hence, are gods yourselves, you see?" He shook his head, glaring, "They really do need to be knocked down a rung or two..."

Starr looked to Kay then grinned "No, but it will not take long to get some" she replied then headed out quickly "Everyone makes mistakes, some big, some small." She said aloud before leaving the room

The boy suddenly looked tense, "What's going on?"

Even the other Creator looked a bit worried...

Kay tensed at the god remarks and tried to keep his expression neutral rather than full of the contempt he felt for these arrogant lunatics. [Starr's extremely good with magic. If she can reverse engineer those chains, then they'll never be able to bind you again.] Lying came so easily to Kay, he shrugged. [Or we may be able to use their own magic against them. Which would be rather satisfying.] Okay that was the truth. [You're quite right, they do need to be brought down. ]

"We are certain both of you will have no trouble doing so, but we offer our services if you so desire." Swarm added.

Kay frowned at them, why were they even HERE?

"We devour knowledge." They seemed to sense his silent question. "What better place to seek it than the presence of two such powerful and immortal beings?"

[The Family are not and shall never be gods, but they'll tear the universe apart trying to claim it. They need to be stopped, sooner rather than later. Before any more worlds fall.]

Starr left Vestia again, going out into space to pick up chain fragments and anything else that sparked her interest while she was out. She sent them to the shuttle bay before returning to Vestia
