Upon Vestia: Chapter Eleven

She blinked and nodded, "Yea...?"

Merith stopped in his tracks, before his shoulders slumped and he sighed, "God damnit, I just can't stay angry with you..." He turned around, smiling softly at her, "I'm just... Stressed, okay? It's been rough for me internally since Avia's..." He shook his head again, going silent.

Sara frowned slightly, "Well, anyway... You think I could try to talk to talk to Mourn? It's been on my mind for a while, now..."

"Not alone, he might try to just catch and ignore what you have to say" Shane said then smiled "It would be good for you two to clear the air though."

"If your stress then why dont you talk instead of take it out on others?" Heny asked in a confuse tone, "It..hurts when you do that.." She mumbled.

Asher nodded in agreement. Being a medic wasn't all bad, in fact in many ways, it was one of the best jobs he could imagine having.
He was also glad that Kay didn't seem to be having regrets about what they had done before the full moon; that would have been sad. Of course, with Shock in the room, he couldn't say that directly.
Instead he said, "Everyone's patient files should be fully updated with everything you'll need to know, and I took the liberty of placing a few orders for things we had on the shopping list." He smiled, "I also did a bit of research to see if there are any good long-term ways to strengthen immune systems. There are a few possibilities I saw, and I can send you the links if you're curious."

As they spoke The creator would (as quietly as ine in a wheelchair could) come into the med bay, the reset draining more then she would desire to admit she had in her lap a memory orb.

Kay nodded, frowning slightly at mention of immune systems. <thank you> Asher was of course right, anything that could help him to not get so sick so rapidly was a good idea.
[Hopefully things will be quiet enough to allow me some time to read up on everything.]
He looked up as the creator came in, tilting his head at the memory orb. She looked tired.

[How did everything go?] He asked her.

Asher tensed a bit as the Creator came in, then forced the friendly look back onto his face.

"Asher, please dont bother trying to hide feelings that you can't." She sighed, then looked at Kay, "It went well, all her previous memories are in this orb, just in case we need information." It was obvious she was still torn on the subject herself.

Kay looked at the orb warily. [So exactly how much CAN she remember?] He asked. [And where's the safest place to store that so it can't be lost or damaged?] It was eerie to think that all of Heny's memories were in that thing, how much of her was left?

"I tried to leave as much as possible about her previous family, vestia crew, her relationship with Merith, and general manners and so forth. Sadly though a lot of her memories have been..tainted. And I am still thinking about that." She sighed refering to the storing of the orb.

Asher valiantly maintained his pleasant professional expression and let Kay talk. He was a medic, and he would be polite, whether it fooled anyone or not.

Kay shook his head, it was pretty obvious he wasn't happy about all this either but given he'd walked out of the vote itself, his displeasure was no secret.
[How fragile is it? We have a safe on board.] Actually they had several, for storing cash and valuables had this even been a proper cruise ship. [And what do you mean tainted?]

"Bitterness, anger, hatred. All things that would of lead to a currupt keeper if her sucide mission plan failed." She shook her head. "I pray I never see my counterpart because if I did there will be a tear in this galaxy for the battle to come." The Creator remarked harshly, "What, he did to her before the fall..." She shook her head, "And a safe should do, I may as the protectors to store it."

[Suicide mission?] Kay looked alarmed. He'd known Heny was depressed but this was news to him. [Will she be alright?] That really was what mattered most in all this. That she was going to be okay. Unsettled as he was by what had been done, it was sounding more and more like it was necessary. It didn't mean they had to like it, but maybe it made the pill a bit easier to swallow.

"Yes, I do think so. She will be more...sweeter." She mused weakily, "And different but I believe it'll be helpful in the long run...much better then her plans for next year." She sighed.

Yes, most likely this was better than Heny going on a suicide mission. A despicable violation of her rights, but perhaps justifiable given her previous state of mind. Poor, poor Heny, Asher thought unhappily.

[What was she planning?] Kay asked, swallowing hard at the Creators words about Heny being sweeter and different. Life experience was such a huge part of what made a person who they were, without those memories... was she even Heny any more?
Funny, he felt he'd almost miss their arguments and the battles of will. He shook his head, this was just depressing. [Let's go find the safe, get that orb somewhere secure before something happens to it.] That orb contained what had made Heny Heny, it was precious not just because of the information it contained, but because it WAS her as far as Kay was concerned.

"To take the family on one on one after she gave birth..she planned on leaving the twins with Merith and more or less vanishing. If she lost..well they would of gotten their hands on a dagger finally." She weakily sighed, nodding as she followed kay, "I suspect she will develop some of her old personality, hopefully more willing to accept help at least eitherway..."

Asher would stay behind. He had no desire to be near the Creator, and wanted to be in the med bay in case someone needed help, anyway.

Kay glanced back at Asher reassuringly. He'd be back, once he was certain Heny's memories were safe.

once they were away from the medical room Kay had only a few things he wanted to know.

[Can she defend herself? and Did she consent?]

"I believe she can, and...honestly she didnt say eitherway." She said truthfully in a soften voice, "I tried speaking to her but she admently refuse to say a word other then it wasnt time for her check up." She look away, "Kay...I truly wouldn't of done this if it wouldnt of help her, I know very well the android hates me fof this, and so be it."

Kay nodded slowly. [You have to understand, from his perspective, this is rather close to home. The terrans do awful things to androids, wiping their minds, scrapping them when they're no longer useful enough. It's an upsetting and difficult thing for all of us to come to terms with. The woman we knew is for all intents and purposes gone, and now we have to get to know a new her. Our memories and experiences shape us, for better or worse, they make us who we are and without them, without them she's someone else. Everyone needs a chance to grieve for the person we knew, and to come to terms with this new life she has. It will take time and it's not going to be easy. To be honest with you, I wish there had been another way as well. But there's nothing we can do about it. Except keep her memories, this part of her safe. Maybe one day she can have them back safely, who knows. ] He couldn't quite meet the creator's eye. [We should never have been asked to vote on this, that anger will take time to cool. I still feel like we betrayed her, and it hurts. I just hope you're right, and this was the only way to save her and the rest of the universe from whatever she would have become. I really hope you're right.]

She nodded, "Fair enough...It was Merith that requested that, I simple brought the suggestion." She deeply sighed.

Kay nodded. [Then i'll save my frustration for him.]

They'd eventually reach the area of the ship where the safe boxes were kept.
Kay hesitated, unsure how to go about doing this. Did he trust this woman with the code?

"Here." She gently handed it over, "I can leave if you like..."

Kay tucked his tablet away so he could hold the orb as carefully as possible. He nodded to the creator, and focused on getting the orb safely locked away in one of the safes. They had trays inside them, but he still wasn't sure how strong this orb was. It was precious after all.

He set it down in the tray, took his knitted vest off and wrapped the orb in that before setting it back down. Hopefully it would be safe here, least safer than being carried around.

He locked the safe, taking careful note of the combination.

He returned to the creator and smiled softly, it was done.
