Mourn shrugged. "No my money."

Hewitt laughed. "Ahh yes, it's always easier to spend other people's money."

Mourn shrugged again. "Be helpful. ship very big, crew very small. Lots of medics, no so many engineer. " He eyed up each of the androids. "You sure want come? Can stay in beach place, retire."

"Retirement is overrated." Hewitt interjected. "But if they only have a few years left they're hardly a solid investment."

Mourn made a face at the Aketi. "Work on that, figure out plan. I good fixing robot remember."

Hewitt looked unconvinced.

"Retirement?" asked Bess.

All six androids looked confused. That wasn't a term they'd ever heard in relation to themselves. You worked, or you were decommissioned. There really wasn't any other option.

"We don't want to stay on this planet, there are too many people here who want to hurt androids," another android said.

Mourn nodded. "Okay." He looked to Scott. "Why you stay?" he asked. Business couldn't have been good here right?

Hewitt waved a hand. "Yes yes retirement, when you stop working and relax. Play chess, take walks." He shook his head. "It's rather dull." He was starting to seriously consider Ethan's suggestion about teaching, Uh oh.

"This is the family business. My parents sold robots, so I sell robots too. And the beaches are great," Scott said.

"I don't think I could manage being retired, it sounds like a good way to become unnecessary," the Seven said.

"We can work, we're good, hard workers," a Five male agreed.

Mourn snorted. "lots of people unneccisary, still keep going." He looked back to Scott. "How much?" yes, the thought of actually asking permission to buy a load of androids didn't even occur to him.

Scott frowned in thought, then picked up a calculator and started running numbers. "The Seven is going to cost thirty-five thousand--"

"Hey! You only asked thirty thousand for me! Is it because she's a girl? I'm calling gender discrimination!" James protested.

Ethan facepalmed.

Scott rolled his eyes but continued. "Those two are valued at fifteen thousand because they have over ten years left on their storage drives, and have no behavioral problems. That one is seven thousand since he has three years left, and no behavioral problems. Naomi is five thousand. Altogether, that's a total of, ah, seventy-seven thousand credits, not including tax."

Mourn did some quick calculations to see if he had access to that sort of money.

Hewitt looked amused. What the heck was Mourn going to DO with a load of androids? And how would the rest of the crew react when he came home with his new entourage?

"What, no discount for taking them all together?" Skye teased with a grin.

Mourn totally didn't have access to that much money from Vestia. He'd have to text her about this to see if she was actually okay with, you know, buying a whole herd of androids.

Scott looked thoughtful at Skye's suggestion. "Good point. I'll knock the price down to seventy thousand plus tax, since you're buying so many at once." No doubt MegaBrainTech would send him replacement stock in short order after this success. Maybe they'd even send him a used Eight android or two...

Mourn messaged vestia with a simple message [found robots, need money.] and the amount.
He simply couldn't see how she could say no.

Hewitt shook his head. "How long have they been here?" He asked conversationally.

Skye blinked, she hadn't actually thought that would work. She moved over to Mourn "What's wrong?" She asked quietly.

[HOW many androids are you buying????] replied Vestia.

The five androids whose fates were in question here waited, watching Mourn write.

"The ones your friend is trying to buy have all been here a year or two, except for the Seven series one, who arrived after I sold James," Scott said. "And my android, Daniel, has been here my while life."

"You're fond of him aren't you?" Hewitt asked, he smiled. he was fond of his robot too. even if Amity wasn't actually technically HIS.

Mourn showed Skye the text and wrote back [4 fives, 1 seven. Can fix, show how fix ship too.]

"He helped raise me, it's hard to not be fond of someone you've spent that much time with," Scott said, smiling.

[Okay, gimme a second to double check] Vestia had to think about this a bit, was there some reason not to buy a ton of Androids?

Skye read it then nodded and smiled "If we have to, I could buy one of them with the money I have saved up." She said gently

[Okay, you can access the money now. Have fun,] Vestia said after a bit.

Hewitt nodded. That made sense he supposed, familiarity was a funny thing wasn't it?

Mourn clapped his hands and looked to Scott. "Ship say okay." He nodded. "I buy."

Scott smiled. "All right then. Guys, line up, we're changing your owner files."

The androids did as they were told, helpfully unrolling their data cables for Scott to plug in.

"Type in the owner and payment information on the display, and I'll get these guys updated," Scott told Mourn.

James and Ethan watched. James excitedly, Ethan with mild interest.

Mourn typed everything up eagerly, giggling with excitement.

Hewitt leaned on his cane and looked bemused. This wasn't at all what he'd expected his day to become.

It took a few minutes to get all the androids updated, but finally Scott had them all transferred over to Mourn, and the money transferred to him. He looked delighted.

"Sir?" Daniel asked.

"Yes?"

"You may have forgotten the android parts order," Daniel said.

"Oh! Crap." Scott looked at the boxes of parts. "Right. You still want these too?"

Mourn nodded. "Maybe even more useful now." He grinned. "You like ship, she good ship." He told the androids.

Scott rang everything up and had Mourn pay for it. "Okay, you guys are good to go. I'd ask you if you wanted help carrying those boxes, but with seven androids, I think you can manage just fine."

James grabbed an android by the hand. "Come on! Let's meet your new home!"

The androids looked to Mourn. Hey, he was their owner now.

Mourn nodded. "come come, we go back ship." He thrust the boxes at whoever was closest.

Hewitt chuckled. "Are we going to be picking up strays everywhere we stop?"

Skye chuckled and shrugged "With this crew that is very likely" She replied to Hewitt

The androids picked up the boxes. Well, Naomi and Ethan and James didn't, but the others did.

Ethan nodded, agreeing with Skye. "These guys love stays. The more, the better."

The androids started following Mourn. A few paused to give Daniel one-armed hugs despite their boxes, or bid Scott goodbye. Apparently they were kind of fond of those guys.

Skye smiled at the show of friendliness then turned to go with them only to pause and look back "You wouldn't happen to have (insert part that Asher needs)?"

(I forgot what he needed, lol)

"Your felid friend already asked." Hewitt pointed out. "Sadly, a trip to mars is indeed inevitable. Don't let him buy all the androids there too."

Mourn practically skipped as he led this odd procession of androids, a hawk girl and a plant person back to Vestia.
