Upon Silver Devil: Chapter Two

Deeply Acus sighed as he paused and turned around, arms crossed. "Yes?"

The third of the group who weren't flying and were just sort of laying on the floor and wall edged toward the liquid. The others would help them.

Dawn watched quietly, hoping that it was the right amount for the tiny insects

James watched nervously and fidgeted with the seam on his arm. It wasn't like they'd be able to tell right away if the painkiller was poison to Swarm or not. The insects might take minutes, even hours, to start dying if the effect was bad.

"Will take a while to take effect. Nothing we can do if it's wrong." The swarm told the two medics. It wasn't like you could resuscitate small insects. "Thank you."

"Off to find Tala then?" Dawn asked, looking to James then back to the insects that had come to drink "I hope it's the right dosage"

James just nodded; he was a bit too worried to say much at the moment. He'd follow Dawn to go find Tala.

Dawn watched Swarm for a moment or two longer before turning to go find Tala to see if she wanted painkillers and water this morning.

They would find Tala pacing the hallways, tugging on her ears to relieve her headache, and squinting at the light. She started at the sight of Dawn and James, bleary eyes at first mistaking them for intruders, then soft of halfheartedly flicked her ears in greeting. "Hello, humanoids," she said, not really remembering their names at the moment.

Dawn looked at Tala and frowned a little "Hi Tala, did you want some painkillers this morning?" She asked gently to not make her feel worse.

"I am a great warrior and require no painkillers," Tala said, tossing her head in a dignified manner, then wincing as her aching brain throbbed a bit more sharply.

"Even great warriors can take painkillers sometimes" Dawn said then sighed softly "If you won't then you need to drink water and try to rest until it passes."

James shook himself out of his worries about Swarm, and nodded agreement. "We know you can handle the pain, but Captain would say you should use the painkillers, right?"

Tala snorted and pawed the ground.

"Besides, in medical matters, Dawn outranks you."

Tala thought about that, then nodded, grunting in pain at the motion.

Dawn held out the pills and waited for Tala to choose which she wanted to do, sleep or take the pills.

Tala took the pills. Acus would have ordered it if he had been himself, after all, and she believed in following the captain's orders even if they conflicted with her beliefs. "My gratitude to you both," she said.

Dawn smiled softly "Your welcome, just take it easy for now, I don't think we are going anywhere yet."

Tala lumbered off to try and get some work done.

James smiled at Dawn. She was so good at this, it was amazing. "This we should go bother Acus?" he asked.

Dawn looked to him and shrugged "I thought you already took care of him" She said truthfully

"I've been looking after him, but since you're sort of head medic now..." James looked embarrassed.

"Head medic?" Dawn asked then chuckled lightly "If you say so, I guess I could be, but I am not as learned yet as I should be for that position." She wanted to learn a lot more though.

"You'd be better at it than I would," James said with a grin. "If you think Acus is probably okay, I can check him again later."

Dawn smiled and dipped her head then nodded "Alright, I can check on him too" She said and started that way

James followed her. His good mood had basically returned, despite his worries about Swarm.
He kind of wanted to tell Dawn how attractive her niceness was, but again, that would be unprofessional.

Dawn knocked on the door to Acus' room and waited for an answer

"Come in." He sighed sitting up groogily.

James opened the door for Dawn. "Hey Captain, how you doing?"

"Shitty... Havent had a drink in over 24 hours thank to you two." He grumbled, ah yes the captain was under redrawal too.

Dawn came in and smiled at him though she didn't like his answer to James "We had to make sure you wouldn't use that to do something irreversible."
